Why Does Marvel Shorten the Run Time of Some Films?

Why does Marvel, on the Thor movies, for instance, insist they can only be 2 hours long, when more time would have helped those 2 films. GOTG also would have benefited from some more time IMO. Why does Marvel insist on making certain movies fit within a specified time frame?
