Spike TV Developing Kim Stanley Robinsons Mars Trilogy As TV Series
Spike TV is venturing into sci-fi with Red Mars , a scripted drama series project based on Kim Stanley Robinson s bestselling hard science-fiction trilogy about the colonization and terraforming transformation of Mars into a place where humans can sustainably live. The TV series adaptation, named after the first book in the trilogy, will be written by HBOs Game Of Thrones co-executive producer Vince Gerardis . Robinson will serve as consultant. The heart of this series tackles the question of what it means to be human and can we sustain our humanity under incredible duress, said Sharon Levy, Spike TVs EVP Original Series.
The three novels Red Mars (1993), Green Mars (1994), and Blue Mars (1996), which have won Nebula and Hugo Awards are regarded as the best books written on the subject, and a holy grail for science fiction fans.
