Okay, my apologies to everyone in advance if a separate thread wasn't needed to discuss this subject, but I had to ask... why is SHIELD even being rebuilt within the MCU?
I mean, after learning that the previous SHIELD was compromised by Hydra and how Tony Stark is in the process of privatizing world peace, along with positioning the Avengers where they can pick up the void that SHIELD left upon its dismantle, why is Coulson going through all the trouble of rebuilding SHIELD?
As Maria Hill said, Stark would take Coulson under his wing within a heartbeat? I mean, wouldn't it have made more sense for Coulson and any leftover Loyal SHIELD remnant to join Stark and the Avengers group rather than try to rebuild SHIELD from scratch?
