The Evil Within: Some May Call It an Evil that is Resident

Figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for this since the release is fairly soon. It's the newest game by famed director/designer Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, REMake, Resident Evil 4, Vanquish). It is thought to be a sort of bridge between the two "schools' of Resident Evil (in reference to pre-RE4 titles and RE4 and onward titles), but early impressions seem to be showing it's evolved pretty different from either. Gameplay is not just about survival, but also incorporates the use of traps and randomized encounters. The story at this point seems to be a mystery. All we know is that you play a detective who is going to investigate a mass murder and finds himself in a deranged, strange world filled with creatures and terrors of the night. Trailers, demos, and hands-on footage have been deliberately vague in giving story details. The game is also titled Psycho Break in Japan.

Some earlier footage was met with lukewarm reception, especially due to framerate issues, but newer hands-on impressions have said this seems to be fixed and much smoother (Mikami's games are known for going through several changes before release, so this wasn't ever a real issue of worry).

Benstamania reposted a hands-on account of the game via NeoGAF, here is. It is lengthy, but gives a good idea of what the game is shaping up to look like.
