AoU is nearly perfect in my eyes, but a few things have surfaced in criticism: it's 'overstuffed', has a few pacing issues, 70 minutes were cut that (while the may have further affected pacing) contained useful information. So it occurred to me that perhaps two films would have been a more efficient way to tell this story. I realize that some will claim that the two-part IW will have prohibited them from splitting AoU, but I disagree on the grounds that Marvel can pretty much do whatever they want with these films and still be wildly successful.
More Thor/Selvig would have been wonderful, and I certainly don't feel like this film (despite being very information dense) had any unnecessary information. Some may argue that Banner/Widow was unnecessary and took valuable screen-time, but those people don't seem to understand that Bruce needs a powerful catalyst to work towards "Smart" Hulk. I can see no better candidate than the one woman who doesn't let him run away, and who can actually keep him from hulking out.
