Why doesn't Hollywood make classic movies anymore?

Seriously, during the last years the majority of movies that come out are a big disappointment and even if some films get a good reception, they divide its fan base at the same time and generate a great number of haters. A recent example that comes to my mind is the TASM2 fiasco.

I mean, I reminiscent some older movies from the 60's during the 80's where they are universally praised for being genre classics.

Films such as 2001 Space Odyssey, The Terminator, Alien, Honey I Shrank the Kids, Back to the Future, Robocop etc, are being loved and praised even today after all these years. Films such as Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane, Casablanca etc. No one hates those movies. At least those that are fans of their respective genre.

It seems to me that in the old days of film making, the crew and cast put a lot of thought and creativity and they treated their product more as a piece of art than a quick cash grab like today's directors do.

I am really pissed with the new trend where the cgi fest overshadows the quality of the movie and the douche studio execs that have the final word on the movie's direction and spoiling major parts of the plot in the trailers. Anyone else with me?
