Imagine if xmen days of future past had a marvel one shot?

What would you like to see?

I would want to see more of the future mutants. I kind of felt like there was a spark between blink and warpath for example that I would love to see more of and it would be great to show the general audience how bishop got his M tattoo.

It could begin with a jail break from one of the concentration camps.

What would you guys like to see?

The Supporting Cast Thread

I thought there should be a thread to discuss the supporting cast of Daredevil. Which characters do you want to see and who should play them.

Obviously Matt Murdocks father, Battlin' Jack Murdock, needs to be on the show. At least for the pilot but maybe for flashbacks as well. Dunno who could play him though.

Also, it would be nice to see Turk. Im drawing a blank on an actor for him too.

Khan (Into Darkness) vs. Darth Vader (ROTS)

Another poster gave me this idea when he said Vader would wreck the Federation. I see no reason not to put the most formidable supersoldier from the Abrams Trek verse up against his Darth Vader.

Khan has his two guns that he decimated the Klingons with. Vader has his light saber. Battle starts with these two 100 feet apart.

What do you think of Marvel's four choices of Netflix shows?

Don't know that much about Jessica Jones but I have no problem with her headlining a show. Daredevil is a dream come true and while I've always envisioned Power Man and Iron Fist a "Superhero Rush Hour" movie, the individual solo shows have lots of potential.

Would you change any of the four if given the chance? If so, with who?

Current and Next Issue Listing.

I fugure, with the somewhat erratic scheduling, the miniseries, the web series and the main book or books... It'd be nice to keep an updated post that tells you What the Most Recent Previous, Current and Nest Issues are with the release dates are.

So, refer to the first post from now on. this posting will be moved to the second post, to keep it cleaner...

Oh and if anyone catches something that I missed, please, let me know.

A few of mine...

Adam West cameo (Surprised Schumacher didn't use him)

Dinosaur robot and giant penny displays during a fight scene in a museum

Previous movie Batmobiles in the Batcave

When should we expected any casting annoucments?

Filming starts in October and I'm pretty sure that Jamie Foxx was announced as Electro 5 months before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 filming started so should we expect any casting news in the next couple of weeks

Scenes/Moments that need to be in

This is a bit less ambitious than storylines. Obviously, people have different ideas of which storylines should be season 1 (or season only) of Daredevil and most of the ideas won't appear. However, small moments or scenes from the comics can often be quite iconic or would be very dramatic on screen. So this thread is for that. I'll leave out the obvious, like Matt Murdock saving a man crossing the street and getting blinded.

The one that instantly comes to mind for me is Daredevil fighting Bullseye and "sees" him go into the Subway. He pauses for a second, knowing his radar sense would be useless with the oncoming trains and then proceeds anyway because, duh, he's the man without fear. Generally, Bullseye had the upper hand. However, Daredevil started winning through sheer determination:

And then, he had him defeated and had to choose whether to let him die or let him live:

The payoff here is he let him live because, in Daredevil's mind, the law ("following the rules") is too important. When his Dad hit him and "broke the rules" he realized that no one can be above those rules. Bullseye had to be tried by a jury even though he was dangerous and even though he probably would win at trial, it didn't matter. And, in the end, Bullseye was acquitted at trial, came back out on the street, and killed Elektra (although, in the comics, I think he was arrested again and escaped, which defeats the narrative somewhat, so I'm ignoring that).

So, any moments that stood out to you as iconic or just really fun to see?

Favourite moment in DOFP

It's that time!

What was your favourite moment or scene in DOFP?

For me it was the opening in New York and the bang of the X-Men theme. At that moment I knew that DOFP was the return of the franchise we love so much, and a big winner right off the bat. That theme is just iconic, and the opening titles? Perfection

Charles meets Charles Trailer vs. Theatrical

I've noticed a few differences and figured it might be fun to talk about.

This shot of Xavier is missing and I assume as he's looking in the mirror young Charles walks in front of him and becomes the reflection.

Also the line "I remember" seems to be replaced with "and Cerebro knows it" though it could have been used later and thats just trailer editing.

I also noticed that the performances are different. The trailer offers a more casual conversation tone (as if older Xavier was talking to anyone else) while the movie version is in whispers.

However, I really love the final version. It was like a dream and the whole tone really got to me, you could really feel the pain and hopelessness of younder Charles and Xavier taking a more nurturing tone than what we've seen before.

However, I am sucker for trailer cuts, alternate takes, and all that lol

How Would People Feel About a Zack Snyder Batman Movie?

The title says it all, but given that we know Snyder is in charge of putting the DC Cinematic universe together this question just struck me.

For you Batman fans - and by that I mean those people for whom Batman is their favorite superhero above all others. How would you feel if tomorrow WB announced that after Justice League they would be doing another solo Batman movie with Zack Snyder at the helm?

Josh Brolin Is Thanos, The Mad Titan

Josh Brolin To Play THANOS in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (?)

http://ift.tt/1hHwsxP

There's one major Marvel Character in Guardians of the Galaxy that hasn't even been teased in any of the official trailers or stills, and that's Thanos, the big bad guy of the Marvel films.

Thanos made his first appearance onscreen (played by Damion Poitier) at the end of The Avengers, giving an insidious smile when told that attacking Earth is courting death. Or "Death," with a capital D, as the comic book Titan is in love with the physical embodiment of Death.

Thanos is a member of The Eternals, a group of god-like beings with immense power, far beyond that of humans. Thanos is referred to as the “Mad Titan” in the comics for attempting to wipe out the entire human race with his Infinity Gauntlet, capable of manipulating, time, space, reality and even the human soul.

We don't know how big Thanos' plan is, but we know from Thor: The Dark World that The Collector is collecting powerful mystical objects that most speculate will make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Infinity Gauntlet. If the Gauntlet is coming to screen, so is Thanos.

An article on James Gunn's post-production process reported a scene with Thanos on a rocket throne in Act 3, which suggests an appearance long enough that someone is going to have to voice the Mad Titan, someone that could take the part into Avengers 3 as a major villain.

That meant Marvel was looking for an actor of some caliber, someone that could give a performance to a very complex, but very purple-skinned alien villain.

Our sources tell us that person is JOSH BROLIN!!

He'll be providing the voice of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and with a name and reputation like that, it's likely he'll join James Spader and Tom Hiddleston as actors who have tried to kill The Avengers.

We reached out to Brolin's representatives at CAA and they're giving us the run around.

I've went through several pages looking for somewhere to discuss my favorite topic with my fellow Hypesters, and unfortunately couldn't find one.

Thriller about a Tuscon cop that joins forces with two mercs to track down a deadly drug lord in Mexico. Plot is kinda by the books but those three together....worth the money.

Quicksilver's Flash speed!!

Yes. Quicksilver has the best scene on the movie.

And it has raised the bar in superhero action movies.

But dam!! He is suppose to be only speed of sound but on this movie he was going light speed.

Even Flash in JLU has only done that when he has to try and it costs him a lot of energy.

While this Quicksilver does it naturally.

They made him ridiculously fast and unstoppable. I can't see any mutant beating him going at that speed.

So do you guys think the writers should have toned him down on this movie then go all light speed on the next movie??

There was a reason why he was only in few scenes for this movie because if he was in throughout the movie, they would have accomplished their mission easily.

So how can they write for a character like that if he will be part of the team?? With that speed they just gave him, he doesn't need the X-men at all.

Future villains for sequels

I don't see a thread for this, but thought it be cool to discuss who else could show up down the road. I am going to list first who hasn't showed up.

Mutant villains

Mr. Sinister

The Marauders (I suppose they could show up as a new group with Mystique in charge)

Omega Red

Avalanche (of all the Brotherhood villains he is the most prominent one we haven't seen)

Human villains

The Friends of Humanity

Graydon Creed

The Purifiers

Stephen Lang

Cameron Hodge

Aliens

Shi'ar:

Emperor D'Ken

Deathbird

The Phalanx (of course they don't have to be aliens could just be the virus that Cameron Hodge created)

Other

Mastermold

Bastion

Nimrod

Arcade

Mojo

Any other thoughts or others I missed

I personally could see a good movie around Bastion and maybe Mastermold mixed in, could be a different approach to the sentinels. The Phalanx would work as villains, although they do resemble the Borg. Not sure about the alien stuff.

Artificial Intelligence-Do We Have A Plan?

We've all seen Terminator, and we've all seen the progress that we as a society are making on Artificial Intelligence. The Pentagon has a plan for Zombies, do we as a society have a back up plan for an AI uprising? Is there a way to prevent or stop it if it were to happen? What do you all think?

My tidbits for the movie

Here are my thoughts on what can happen on the film:

- Apocalypse will be like a Sebastian Shaw. A very powerful man, with lots of resources gathered through millenia. I think we will only see his grayish skinned form until the film´s end.

- Mystique will be convinced by Apocalypse to join him (since she is now on her own).

- Mystique will deliver Logan to Apocalypse.

- Apocalypse will fund the Weapon X project alongside Stryker and put the adamantium on Logan (finally we will have the REAL Weapon X project, leading to an amnesiac Wolverine).

- The young X-Men will fight Apocalypse, Mystique and Wolverine as a horsemen.

- Magneto´s will show Mystique that Apocalypse is not the way, and save her from him, thus leading them to be together once again.

- Wolverine will end up in the wilderness without Xavier being able to track him due mental blocks that Logan will have (this is, I think, the best way to go, since an interaction with Wolverine and the young X-Men might look a little bit off, specially with a young Jean).

So mostly, the film will feature two plots: the recruit of the young X-Men, and Logan undergoing the Weapon X Project.

I really hope that X-Men: Apocalypse will finally lead Mystique into her darker path. A compassionate, emotive Mystique, is just NOT her. I think we had enough of that. Also, the film can bring back Liev as Victor, and again, a young Gambit being captive by Stryker.

What do you think? What do you hope to see in the movie?

Ahab - The Horseman Famine

I've posted a thread about how I believe Wolverine will be used as the Horseman Death in the X-Men: Apocalypse movie.

This got me thinking about who could be used for the other Horsemen. I've speculated on Mystiaue, Gambit and others; but one that really makes sense to me is having Ahab...

Ahab, IMO, is a pretty cool villanous character that has yet to be used. Introducing him in this way, as a Horseman, makes using him ina future movie (whether X-Men, X-Force or whatever) easier.

Let's first talk about Ahab as a villain...

Ahab is a guy names Rory Campbell, who was a psychologist who joined Moira MacTaggert's research team on Muir Island during the time Excalibur was stationed there.

He discovered that in an alternate future of Earth he became the mutant-hunter Ahab, creating and leading the mutant trackers called "Hounds." He tried to prevent that future from coming to pass. Later, when Rory lost his leg in a laser accident, he realized that things might be heading towards him becoming Ahab. He later got a bionic leg from Sebastian Shaw of the Hellfire Club.

Ahab can generate powerful energy harpoons that are formed from, and attached to, his own life force. Anyone who attempts to grab a harpoon gets burned. Each harpoon is keyed to its target's genetic structure, and cannot be moved or deflected by energy; it only stops when it strikes its target, or a close blood relative thereof. A hit from one of these harpoons can kill or seriously injure the target. A person who survives finds their neural pathways burned out and unable to move.

Finally he succembed to the influence of Apocalypse and became the Horesman Famine. As Famine, Ahab drains his victims' lifeforce resulting in emaciation and worse.

Obviously we can't use the Muir Island concept since Moira is ruined, but everything else about Ahab as Famine could be included.

What I love about using Ahab as the Horseman Famine is that it can be used to tie in the Age of Apocalypse timeline (a possible future) that includes Hounds, and specifically Rachel Summers.

I'm not saying this should be used in this movie, just that by including Ahab it opens up as a tie-in this future possibility.

Also, the other Horsemen (assuming Death will be Wolverine) shouldn't just be throwaways. Yes, some of them will need to die/be defeated, but at least one or two of the other Horsemen should be semi-developed characters and they can get away (possibly with Apocalypse) so they can come back in the next movie.

The "X-Men" role in the movieverse (Prime and Sigma)

So essentially, in the movieverse Timeline Prime the X-Men are not Superheroes. They are Charles' bodyguards and supporters, professors of the School and occasionally members of a TASK FORCE aimed to stop any mutant threat.

It seems to me they are:

1- Teachers, apart Logan who is a sort of "technician/supporter" for the School.:BA

2- Xavier's bodyguards.:BA

3- Members of the "X-MEN" task force, but they have had very few missions because no many mutants had the balls to challenge society and government.:ninja:

Largely speaking, they are the "Men of Xavier", as hinted by Moira in First Class. His "bishops".

I just think they will turn the X-Men in a version closer to the comic books now that we're following Timeline Sigma.

Do Sony regret rebooting now?

Would look awesome as a senator for naboo like her grandmother

Would you watch a brotherhood movie?

I would be tempted to give it a go. It would be interesting to see the brotherhood go up against the purifiers for example with maybe a cameo from the xmen as they get chased by them.

It might be an interesting perspective. What do you think?

As for casting choices I would want to see mystique, pyro, a proper sabretooth, avalanche, quicksilver, wanda and Ian mckellans magneto

Should bolivar trask return?

Spoiler warning I guess.

Do you guys think it would be cool to see peter Dinklage return as bolivar trask for xmen apocalypse? I think it would be great if apocalypse agitated the conflict between humans and mutants with magnetos brotherhood on one side, bolivar and the humans on the other and the xmen caught between before finally they all have to team up to take on apocalypse.

What do you think?

Kelsey grammer as beast

I was listening to the podcast simon Kinberg did for empire magazine and he brought up dark beast which got me thinking what an amazing idea it would be to bring in Kelsey to play dark beast.

Kelsey is so great at playing villains and we've already seen that moment of darkness when he grabbed magneto by the throat in xmen first class.

Do you want to see dark beast? Or would you prefer nice beast?

X-Men Mutant Massacre

X-Men Mutant Massacre. This would probably never happen, since this would push things into rated R territory, though. I wouldn't mind seeing the definitive death of various Morlocks and assorted other mutants. I wonder who would play Mr. Sinister, though, or how that "name" would even work.

You could see several members of the X-Men gravely wounded, maybe one or two could die.

I'd like to see the Marauders and Reavers, with an expanded lineup. Also include the mercenary "Cole" that Wolverine seemed to know from way back.

I could see the fight with young Storm and Callisto.

I could see the New Mutants introduced, also X-Factor.

respect for Cyclops? (finally)

I'm the most excited about Apocalypse because we get another shot to give Cyke respect and to show off his leadership abilities as well as no holds barred full on optic blasts. .

I do have my concerns though. What Cyke will we get? I'm afraid we'll get an unsure teen. Hopefully not. It would be interesting if we got a young hardened cyclops already battle trained joining the academy to stop the Apocalypse. Now some will throw a rock at me stating profess x trains Scott to maximize control over his powers. I think Prof X can help him get to the next lvl like he did with Mags in FC.

Marvel Canceling the Fantastic Four Comic Book?

I knew it could come to this and from a business standpoint, I can't blame them

Quote:

http://ift.tt/1mO0RPm

Well this is an interesting one. Recently we ran a piece looking at the absence of comic book characters associated with Fox Studios on the Marvel 75th Anniversary Magazine cover, in favour of the likes of the Inhumans and Captain Marvel.

Well, now I’m being told from a Marvel source that Marvel are intending to put the Fantastic Four comic books on hold, both Marvel Universe and Ultimate. The characters will still appear, but in other folks’ books such as Inhuman and Avengers. And that artwork featuring the Fantastic Four is even being taken down in the company offices.

Twentieth Century Fox pretty much has an eternal claim on Fantastic Four and X-Men movies, if they keep making them, after the deal was done during Marvel’s bankruptcy days, with very little benefit to Marvel.

The belief inside the higher echelons of Marvel is that promoting these properties in comics only benefits Fox’s movies at the expense of those from Marvel Studios. Which is why the Inhumans are being pushed as mutant replacements in the Marvel Universe. And Marvel have been pushing Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy and other comics over the X-Men. And while X-Men comics remain solid sellers, they are no longer the focus of internal promotion unless, as with the upcoming AXIS event, the Avengers get equal billing.

If this story is true, we should be able to watch for an absence of Fantastic Four from upcoming solicitations. Will we get an Ultimate FF for September? The August solicitations seem rather final…

The Fantastic Four is Marvel’s longest running comic book and is the foundation of the Marvel Universe. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961, even if its sales have varied, it’s considered the cornerstone of the comic books. What will happen if it goes away…?

Marvel gave an “no comment” when approached.

Understanding everything that happened (time travel/timeline etc)

Ok. I've seen Days of Future Past, and I absolutely loved it. I love how the mess Last Stand left us with has been cleaned up. However, the more I think about it, the more confused I get! Here's a few questions that are baffling me and others when I've talked about it with them...

WHEN exactly did Wolverine wake up in the mansion? Was it in 'our' present day, so in a year after Last Stand would have taken place?

Does the new timeline (or whatever you want to call it) mean that X1 & X2 didn't happen either?

Did Wolverine still go through what he went through with William Stryker (working alongside him and sabretooth etc, the experiments/metal claws etc)?

When Mystique rescued Wolverine at the end from the river (disguised as Stryker), what happened from there for Wolverine in that timeline? Did he go on to live in that timeline??

It's the last question that baffles me the most. I feel like I'm going insane!

What are your Top 3 favorite movies?

What are your top 3 movies that you absolutely love? No matter the genre, time period, or quality if it's your favorite then list it. Plead your case as to why everyone should see these 3 films if they somehow haven't viewed them already.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Can't imagine there's anyone on this message board who hasn't seen this, but it's my absolute favorite movie. Without a doubt my Batman fan hood makes me bias to having TDK at the very top, but with such an incredible cast with such an exciting and tragic story told along side it makes it one of the most eye opening movies of my life. To see characters I grew up reading and viewing in cartoons in such a realistic setting that if I walk down the streets of Chicago (where it was filmed) right now I could spark the excitement of what this movie offered. It's honestly inspired me and changed my life in making me pursue more with my life.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

I remember watching Raiders almost every other day as a kid on VHS in the early 90's, it was just a fun ride with such a charismatic lead in Ford. An unlikely hero who had to make up plans as he went and would get shot and beaten up worse then Bond has in 23 films. The music is just as exciting as the film and hearing it makes me feel like a kid again taking part in the adventures of Indiana Jones. As I grew up I learned to appreciate the effort and craft to come from such a movie, it went on to spawn on a 3 more movies but I still hold Raiders in highest regard to all of them.

American Beauty (2000)

It's a movie that I saw fresh out of high school in 2006, I felt like a learned so much appreciation for life after seeing this twisted story. I felt like I had matured years by the time the credits were rolling. Instantly became my favorite movie until TDK took its place two years later.

Have anyone here read this? I have only read one issue, way back in the 80s but i was hooked. Im looking around online to see if its available in a collected hardcover edition or something.

Best performance by Hugh Jackman of Wolverine

You might love him, you might hate him, you might think he has too much screen time, you might think he should get more and those other darn mutants are just getting in the way, you might think he should put his backside away, you might think he should get it out more often, but you probably have an opinion on him....

Simply, out of the seven times (a record on film) that Hugh Jackman has played the character of Logan/Wolverine which has been the best portrayal/performance of the hairy one, Bub?

Oh and make sure you say why you think that particular one is the best yet, cause you know, for fun:woot:

(This poll was someone else's idea so credit goes to them for it, not sure of the name)

What difference would it make if this film was 3 hours like TDKR

I'm not knocking the film at all I enyoyed it but I wasn't blown away but if it was longer than what it was it would have given characters more development and the story might have been better

A question?

Let's say tomorrow Marvel get the rights back will they reboot it again? Because this franchise is still fresh and new and I feel another reboot is still too early come on Spider-Man 3 is only 7 years old do people want to see two reboots in less than 10 years

If there's time in the future what do you want to see?

What do you want to see?

I'd like:

 • Wolverine's man-out-of-reality thing to be touched on. Unless they go a route where after a little while in the new timeline, what would have been his memories in that timeline come to him, he's basically in a whole new world with no memory of it and for the rest of the X-Men, their friend doesn't remember anything about why they are friends.

 • Blink.

 • Storm to keep her DOFP costume. Yes, it's black but I like it.

 • Jean being green phoenix and not having any problems with it.

"Man Out of Time"- The Cable Thread

With Cyclops back & Apocalypse coming, it's inevitable that Cable will appear in the next film. I really hope he plays a big part in the movie too unlike Bishop; Cable is one of my favorite X-Men so I hope we get to see him done justice. If Fox wants to do a X-Force movie, the best way would be to launch it off Cable having a big role in this movie.

Who would you guys like to see play Cable? I really hope they get Michael Biehn, he'd be a perfect fit & since part, if not the whole, movie takes place in the '80s it'd be cool if they got one of the biggest action stars from that decade into the movie.

Basically in Timeline Prime mutants hid for 40 years

Without Trask and his genius, they took 50 years to develop useful Sentinels.

There must have been ONE EPISODE where the X-Men faced the Sentinels, before Wolverine would even join the team (2005). The simulation of the Danger Room at the beginning of X3 was based on this earlier encounter. They were just giant robots with no powers whatsoever. I'm pretty sure the X-Men (Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Jean Grey, Emma Silverfox) kicked the crap out of them.

Said that, mutants hid from public eye for 40 years. Supposedly, Magneto escaped from his prison in early eighties, joining Xavier for a brief/long truce, but he did not commit any terrorist attack in the nineties anyway. Or... if he really tried, the pre-Wolverine X-Men stopped him.

The events of the original trilogy are really the start and the further development of the "mutant issue" for the general public. Nobody knew one mutant killed Trask in January 1973. Nobody knew they pretended that Erik Lehnsherr killed JFK.

What do you think about it?

What if the New Green Lantern is... Alan Scott?

What if they use Green Lantern but not involving the corps... yet

As you know the power of this Green Lantern is similar to the others but comes from earth power hiden that at the same time involves the Guardians but they can ommit the all sectors for now and maybe introduce them later.

It's a possibility but what do you think?

The could mix some things of both creating some interesting character.

What do you think?

I suspect the news report that most "resident" complaints came from a handful of addresses, the hundreds of factory workers who came to the city council meeting and the dastardly attempt by Texas to 'steal' the factory were factors here.

Gambit in the Apocalypse Movie

Well, we know that Gambit will be in the Apocalypse movie, and that he will be played by Channing. That's a different discussion.

What I want to discuss are possible plotlines for Gambit in an Apocalypse movie...

First, looking at canon, what we know about Gambit is that we first met him when he met Storm, who was the first X-Man Gambit met. Storm had been de-aged and her memory had been affected. Gambit helped her escape from the Shadow King.

When he first met her, Gambit seemed to recognize Storm in some manner, probably as one of the people that fought the Marauders during the Morlock Massacre or possibly because he already knew of the X-Men. We found out later that he was working for Mr. Sinister and was involved on the wrong side of the Morlock Massacre.

He wanted to help Storm and took her youthful version in as his apprentice, stealing from criminals and giving to the poor. (Storm having grown up as a street thief had skills, as did Gambit as a member of the Thieve's Guild).

Storm eventually remembered being an X-Man and returned to the team, with Gambit joining her. She and Gambit have an almost brother/sister relationship, and he stayed at first with the X-Men because of her and he eventually earned his own place on the team.

Of course this story can't work 100% since in the mid-1980's, when this Apocalypse story is supposed to take place, Ororo is going to be a teenager, likely around 15 years old.

But, there are aspects of this plot that could be used. If Professor X will be going around recruiting students, such as Scott, Jean, Kurt and Ororo; which makes a lot of sense, then having Gambit with Storm could work.

Now, how old should Gambit be in say 1985?

Well, the Wolverine: Origins movie took place in 1979 and my best guess is that Gambit was in his mid-20's to early 30's. That would make him around 30-ish, maybe mid-30's at the latest, in 1985.

So this could work...

I could easily see a 30-something Gambit in Cairo with a 14 or 15 year old Ororo, thieving and giving to the poor. Some plot point would happen setting up the two to meet Professor Xavier and them getting invited to the school. Does it need to be the Shadow King? Nope, just something that would help them develop their friendship. And that friendship, between Ororo and Gambit, could be a big plot point for those characters...

As far as the whole Morlock Massacre and Gambit working for Sinister, maybe it's possible to work it in, but would it be necessary? If they wanted the whole betrayal aspect for Gambit he could just be working for Sinister or Apocalypse without the whole Morlock plot. Maybe he was being used to find possible candidates to be Horsemen? Actually, making Gambit a Horseman himself could work as well. In Canon, Gambit has been the Horseman Death (though I feel that that will be Wolverine's role in this movie). It is possible to use him in this way, or make him one of the other Horsemen, such as War or Pestilence...

Obviously Gambit and Rogue's relationship can't work here, especially after what we saw at the end of DOFP, and the fact that Rogue will be too young to be in the Apocalypse movie.

The whole Bella Donna story might be good for a solo-Gambit movie, but not for the Apocalypse movie...

Now, thinking about the Egypt setting for Ororo and Gambit, imagine the two of them going into some pyramid (hmmm, didn't we see a pyramid in the after credits scene of DOFP?) to steal some treasure and instead finding some crypt and possibly awaking some major threat that would put them on the run while alerting a powerful telepath such as Professor X?

Hmmm...

Nobody Touches the Wrestling Thread's Lemon - Part 168

This is a continuation thread, the old thread is Here

Young Jean

Since they are starting fresh I'd assume somethings would remain the same. Such as Jeans power.

Since we're getting close to Jean joining the X-men, or at least Xaviers school. I wonder if her power will hold a key to fighting Apocalypse. Perhaps she'll be his equal in terms of power?

It would be interesting to see the first class cast reenact this scene from X3 with the "Will you control your power, or will you let the power control you" lead more towards fighting Apocalypse, them being more or less the same on the opposite spectrum.

Nightcrawler in the Apocalypse Movie

I wrote up a pretty extensive timeline summary as it pertains to an Apocalypse movie that is supposedly going to take place in the mid-1980's.

This got me thinking about Nightcrawler, who allegedly will be in this movie.

First, here are the approximate ages of possible Apocalypse movie characters, in say a 1985 timeline:

Jean Grey = 15-ish (1985 was when Profesor X and Magneto first visited her)

Scott Summers = 15-ish

Storm = 15-ish

Havok = 40-ish

Mystique = early 50's (though her power keeps her young looking)

Beast = 30-ish

Prof. X = 53

Magneto = mid-late 50's/maybe early 60's

Toad = 30-ish

Ink = 30-ish

Gambit = 30-ish

Wolverine = Doesn't really matter - doesn't age

So, what we know from the comics is that Nightcrawler is the son of Mystique and Azazel. Also, Azazel was killed by Trask.

Azazel died in 1963, giving less than 1 year for Mystique and him to, well you know...

That would mean that baby Nightcrawler was born in 1963 or early 1964, making him around 22 years old in 1985, which would be perfect. (That made him around 40 in X-Men 2).

So a possible cast for a 1985 movie would be:

Professor Xavier = 53 years old

Beast = 30-ish

Gambit = 30-ish

Nightcrawler = 22

Jean Grey = 15-ish

Scott Summers = 15-ish

Storm = 15-ish

Mystique = early 50's (though her power keeps her young looking)

Magneto = mid-late 50's/maybe early 60's

Toad = 30-ish

Ink = 30-ish

Wolverine = Doesn't really matter - doesn't age

Now one thing that would be so great about Nightcrawler is being able to get into his backstory.

Maybe seeing him in the circus. Maybe finding out about him being raised by Margali Szardos, a sorceress and Gypsy Queen. How cool would it be to see Professor X go to meet Kurt and see something happen that leads to an angry mob trying to attack Kurt. Prof. X freezes them and away we go. Maybe even get a little into the young love he had with Jardone (Amanda Sefton).

Also, with Mystique and JLaw being so popular, what a great storyline for her. The whole concept of Mystique being with Azazel, Kurt being born the way he looks, the people finding out, her discarding her baby and Azazel giving Kurt to Margali. Also, Azazel being killed or captured could play into this.

What an amazing story, especially if Nightcrawler figures it out, or the reveal becomes part of the story. Just imagine Mystique and Kurt fighting and Mystique dropping that bomb? Wow!

Hope they get this right and can't wait to see!

Anthony Mackie Plans Jesse Owens Biopic

http://ift.tt/Sgkt3E

Quote:

Although his Sam Wilson may have been repeatedly outpaced by Steve Rogers in the recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie is now looking to play a runner that no one is going to bet against. Deadline reports that Mackie plans on playing Jesse Owens in a still-untitled biopic scripted by George Olson. Mackie will also produce alongside Jason Spire and screenwriter Jamie Linden.

Owens famously took home four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, striking a major moral blow to Adolf Hitler's supremacist philosophy while, at the same time, becoming a powerful symbol for America's own struggles with racial inequality.

This Mackie-led project is just one of several Owens biopics in the works and it remains to be seen which one will make it to the finish line first.

Mackie can soon be seen next year in John Hillcoat's Triple Nine and recently signed on for a leading role in Jonathan Levine's still-untitled Christmas comedy opposite Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I'm not a big fan of biopics but this one would be an exception, fantastic role for Mackie if they can get this off the ground before the other versions.

Lionsgate Films Takes On Operation Avalanche

XYZ Films and Lionsgate Films have announced today that Lionsgate has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to the new thriller Operation Avalanche from filmmaker Matt Johnson. Johnson’s first film, The Dirties (which he directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in), won the Grand Prize at Slamdance in 2013. Johnson is reteaming with The Dirties co-writer Josh Boles, co-star Owen Williams, producer Matthew Miller, and has brought on Toronto-based producer Lee Kim. Nick Spicer will executive produce for XYZ Films, with Michael Paseornek, John Sacchi, and Jessica Switch overseeing for Lionsgate.

While specific details of the plot cannot yet be revealed, the film investigates the truth behind the CIA's involvement in the space race.

“The CIA, the 1960's and the space program have always been obsessions of mine. Working with partners like Lionsgate, who understand the scope and vision of what we are creating, has been a pleasure. This movie is going to leave audiences with a powerful and imaginative interpretation of what may or may not have happened within the walls of the US’s top government agencies,” said Johnson.

Production is set to begin June 30th in Toronto, Houston, and Washington D.C.

Certainly interesting material for a film.

Wolverine - The Horseman Death

So, in looking over the different storylines associated with Apocalypse there's really only one or two that would make sense for this X-Men Universe.

The first is The Age of Apocalypse, but with what we now know post DOFP I think it's safe to say we're not going to get this, and that's too bad.

Yes, this would have been "just one more" timeline story, but it's arguably one of the best storylines in the history of the X-Men and provides the ability to take known "good" mutants and put them on the wrong side, as well as taking known "bad" mutants and making them part of the heroes.

The fact that the Apocalypse movie is suppoed to be in the 80's, and the fact that we saw a glimpse of the future (2023) in the Wolvie wake-up scene, makes this story extremely unlikely.

The next is the Cable & Stryfe storyline where Apocolypse has his Riders abduct Nathan Summers (the son of Scott & Madelyne Pryor). This is the story where Apocalypse infects Nathan with the techno-organic virus, forcing his parents to send their baby to the future. In the future the Askani create a clone of Nathan, Apocalypse mistakes the clone for Nathan, tries to transfer his consciousness into the clone, and is then defeated by Nathan. Nathan grows up to become Cable and the clone grows up to become the terrorist Stryfe.

Again, good story and would give us Cable (setting up X-Factor), but this is more time travel and it's kind of hard to do the baby of Scott in the 80's, so this is a no go. This also takes away the X-Cutioner's Song since Stryfe is integral to it.

Next is The Twelve storyline. Again, a very good story where Apocalypse tries to use the energy of those mutants listed in a prophecy to become an effective god. He plans to use Nate Grey as a host and is defeated by Scott and Jean, etc.

Obviously the concept of Nate won't work, and really Scott and jean won;t as well since it was Nate they were trying to save, but the general storyline of Apocalypse using psychics (and other mutants) to try to become godlike might make sense. But without the Summers/Grey emotional arc I'm not convinced it's the best option.

The Four Horsemen.

This is actually the one I think they go with.

The storyline is actually a bit basic and focuses on Apocalypse recruiting mutants to be his Horsemen and him planning on destroying New York. The main emotional arc is based around Angel, who had previously lost his wings and having been saved by Apocalypse is altered to become Archangel, his Horseman Death.

So first, I can't see Angel being used. Since he was part of the X3 debacle, and this movie is supposed to be in the 80's, well looks like Angel won't, unfortunately, become Archangel.

But, that doesn't mean that the general storyline is unusable.

Look at the basis of what this story is...

1. The ultimate mutant, born in ancient Egypt, who believes in survival of the fittest, tries to destroy New York.

Ok, this would give plenty of cause for the X-Men to fight. Shoot, it could even be expanded to trying to destroy/take over the world if they want.

2. It gives multiple baddies in the four Horsemen, along with Apocalypse. The Horseman are as follows:

Death, Famine, War & Pestilence.

3. It has one of the loved X-Men altered into the Horseman Death. In this case it can't be Angel, so which mutant, of those in the First Class timeline (70s-80s) would be the best choice?

Actually, let's list the options:

- Beast

- Erik

- Charles

- Mystique

- Quicksilver

- Havok

- Toad

- Ink

And...

- Wolverine

Of all of these, I believe Wolverine makes the most sense. In fact, he's been the Horseman Death before, so it's somewhat per canon.

Now, is Hugh Jackman done? My guess is not so much, especially if they show him the money.

One draw to this is that we've never seen Wolverine as the bad guy. We've never seen the other X-Men have to fight against him. And I believe there is a draw to that idea...

Now, here's another connection...

Mystique was proven to be all about saving the mutants. And even though she didn't kill Trask that doesn't mean she wouldn't still care about the fate of her fellow mutants.

Now Apocalypse could be thought of as someone who is on the side of the mutants, and as such I could see her siding with him. Especially if she was shown that the choice is either the destruction of her beloved brethren, or serving Apocalypse and saving mutantkind.

I could see her ending up serving as an agent for Apocalypse, and possibly she is already serving in this capacity during DOFP.

Is it just possible that Mystique saved Wolverine at the end of DOFP so he can become the Horseman Death?

I think the answer is yes!

(SPOILERS FOR DOFP) How will Wolverine react to...

Losing what amounts to a few weeks of his life? I mean let's face it, the guy went from sleeping with a mob boss' daughter to suddenly nearly drowning in a pool in Washington DC.

I'd imagine that's going to piss him off a bit, so he'd want answers. He'd probably seek out Charles first, since he saw him in Paris in the brief moment when his mind came back. But do you think this'll be a major plot point, and will prevent him from trusting Charles intially?

So there is a worst experiences thread. How about best experiences? You know when you come out of a showing with a huge grin on your face, surrounding by other people with similar goofy grins on their face.

Or an experience that has a deeper feeling for you.

Avengers- One of the funnest times i've ever had in a cinema. Looking at it now, it's not THAT great of a film. But what it is unquestionably good at is creating that visceral thrill ride sensation. The part when Hulk punches Thor and smashes Loki? The cinema erupted in laughter. Hundreds of people all just going crazy at the same moment.

Children of Men- The feeling that film gave me at the end is hard to explain. A sadness but also a sense of joy. The scene where the soldiers and rebels stop fighting as Theo carries the baby out of the war torn building... I could sense the effect that had on people. It was tangible how powerful that moment was.

Pitch Black- I got my first blow job in the back of the cinema during a showing of this. Well, it was a great experience :)

List no more than a handful of movies that were so offensively dumb or incompetent that you found yourself mostly greatly irritated, and a brief reason why.

Do not list movies where you fell asleep (that can be viewed as a positive) or movies that were frustrating because the audience was rude or annoying.

***********************

Thor: The Dark World: They thought that Erik Selvig running around naked was so funny they repeated it several times. A dumb plot about the alignment of the realms and the shallowest CBM villain ever.

V for Vendetta: An adaption of an 1980s graphic novel as an unbelievably heavy-handed and impotent criticism of George W. Bush.

Contagion: Racist and misogynistic character and national portrayals, embedded with an American liberal fantasy about the perfect efficiency of government.

Thor 2 stands out in that I found it aggressively dumb in the first 10 minutes.

Original Actors returning - Official Thread

According to producer/writer Simon Kinberg, "some of the original cast" will be involved in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Let's discuss who we want to see, and speculate who they will bring back.

Obviously, Jackman will be back as Wolverine in the past, since it's set in the 80s, so the option above is for Jackman as the future version.

Also, I didn't put Blink, Sunspot, Warpath and Bishop in the poll as they aren't Original Trilogy cast, but we can talk about them in the posts below if you want them back, and nor did I include the First Class past cast - either the earlier ones (Banshee, Havok, Emma) or the new ones (Quicksilver, Toad, Ink, 'Spyke' or whoever it was).

For that year I think we have Batman vs Superman, Captain America 3 , X-Men: Apocalypse and The Amazing Spiderman 3(Marvel studios usually release 2 films a year so I'm not sure on what the other one is).

Which one do you think will be the best film and which one do you think will make the most at the box office?

On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline. The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was there I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games – I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, which I was working on at the time. We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. It was then that this project that became Battlefield Hardline was born.

There’s been a lot of buzz today about Battlefield Hardline – we’re getting ready for E3 and fans found some details on our website about what we’re working on for the show. We’ve been reading all of your comments and we’re excited to be going into more detail soon on the ways we’re adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer and more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player.

I hope you’ll join us for the official world premiere on June 9 at Noon PDT, and sign up for updates on the new game at our web site http://ift.tt/1oHbB2y.

Fans remaking Capcom's cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 prototype for PC

Tom Sykes at 10:00 on 26 May 2014

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

I've spent a lot of time over the last six years writing about Nintendo games, and my most crushing Nintendo-related disappointment during that time was probably the announcement, and subsequent cancellation, of Mega Man Legends 3. It was to be a game designed, in part, by the fans - Capcom spent a lot of time consulting with the fanbase on their now-defunct Devroom site. Their plan was to release a MGS: Ground Zeroes-style prototype/prologue version on the 3DS eShop, before following up with the full game at a later date. That seemingly-fairly-complete prototype was later axed by Capcom, along with the whole miserable, hopes-raising project.

Why am I going on about this, and how does it relate to PC gaming? Well the fans have decided to make MML3: Prototype Version on their own, in Unity - and based on the first blast of gameplay footage, it seems to be coming along extraordinarily well.

As you know, the X-Men films have not really been faithful to the comic story lines or character backstories. Obviously, all comic book films take liberties, but the X-Men films have taken more liberties than most.

- X1 was not faithful with the original line-up of mutants.

- X2 took a lot of liberties with the God Loves, Man Kills storyline like Stryker not really having a preacher background etc

- X3 REALLY changed the Dark Phoenix storyline.

- Origins was not faithful to the Weapon X storyline at all

- First Class made A LOT of changes and had nothing to do with the First Class storyline and some characters like Mystique as Xavier's adopted sister etc

- The Wolverine I thought was pretty faithful and kept the spirit of the Japanese storyline out of all the X-Men films.

Simon Kinberg in recent interviews said that he regrets some decisions he made on X-Men: The Last Stand with the Dark Phoenix story arc etc

My question is do you think Simon Kinberg and the filmmakers redeemed themselves and did the DOFP storyline justice. Sure, it does change some elements like it is Trask they have to stop being assassinated instead of Senator Kelly and Wolverine is the one who gets sent back instead of Kitty etc, but I think they kept the spirit of the comic and probably is the most faithful out of all the X-Men films and is adapted rather well.

Windows Memory/Firefox issue

So, I keep getting this warning from Windows that the memory is running low and they need to close Firefox, yet looking at the amount of free memory I have this makes no sense.

I have ran Windows Memory diagnostic check and everything came back fine, so I thought I'd turn to the good tech savvy folks at SHH, any ideas what the issue might be?

Did you cry during the film?

I'm a guy, but I'l admit that during a few scenes I was tearing up

--Old/young charles talk

--Deaths of Colossus, Iceman, Sunspot, Storm etc..

--Xaviers speech to Mystique at the white house

--Seeing Jean/Scott in the altered future

New Ant-Man title (What do you want?)

might be a pipe dream. but i'm kind of hoping on Marvel being predictable and wanting to launch some kind of Ant-Man-related title after the movie (if there is a movie). what are your personal wants from such a title?

me, i want it to redefine Henry Pym as a character. we need a definitive backstory. i would like to learn more about Maria Trovayna; that part of his life. and i'd love it if they could re-envision his old rogues gallery/make them less silly. change and rebranding would be key. it needs to not seem so dated. here's a character that could truly benefit from a fresh coat of paint.

and i also would like it to be a double-sized book; half Pym story/half Scott Lang story. Scott's half could even be on a schedule to turn into Janet Van Dyne stories at some point. but i, personally, need an alternative to Hank.

Mystique the Mother

Is it time to finally acknowledge "Mystique the Mother"? Especially since she's the Mom of important characters? She gave birth to Nightcrawler, who was already introduced in the series. She also had an affair with Sabretooth and they had a son together, which of course makes Wolverine an uncle. This could be a good way to re-introduce Sabretooth into the series and give Wolverine some emotional/personal conflict. And, Mystique adopted Rogue. Since Apocalypse takes place in the 1980's, this is when she was born, and a way to re-introduce the character.

Insurgent -- March 20, 2015

Since the Divergent sequel started shooting today, I guess we can make a separate thread for this.

Seems like Octavia Spencer is the only new cast member, while the surviving characters are returning. Of course, Robert Schwentke is directing and the screenplay is by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman this time.

Could Fox make a deal with Sony for a Spider-Man F4 crossover?

Well, it looks like Fox has scrapped their terrible idea to put the Fantastic Four in the X-Men universe. However, I do think the Fantastic Four could work with a shared universe, and given that they're not that popular being in a shared universe would help with the audience.

Disney is run by greedy bastards so they probably won't allow the F4 to be in the MCU if they don't get 100% of the profits, but the Amazing Spider-Man films have been underperforming so Sony probably would accept an offer like this. The Fantastic Four would work great in a Spider-Man universe, since they interacted with each other in the comics a lot, and Doom could be considered a Spider-Man villain.

It will also create an interesting dynamic between the two, since the F4 are loved by society, while Spidey is mistrusted, although TASM2 seemed to fudge that up by having the city love him.

Either way I think this would work out pretty well, since Sony can't create a Spider-Verse making a stupid Sinister Six movie, and the Fantastic Four aren't that popular.

The Avengers vs X-Men: Days of Future Past

Which Crossover flick did you like more?

Syfy’s About-Face: Nine Shows That Might Help The Network Redeem Itself

Who thinks Spider-Man should lose during a battle scene

In every Spider-Man movie the movie always ends with the villian getting killed or arrested and I think it would make a change and be completely different if they actually make Spider-Man lose during the climax not die but get badly injured and the villian could escape

EMPIRE Podcast w/ Simon Kinberg

I didn't want this to get lost in another thread.

Here is a fantastic 1 hour and 42 minute podcast discussion with Empire and Simon Kinberg. It delves very deep into the film, so SPOILERS abound. A great listen all around, though.

An unaspected cameo...

Emma Silverfox! The blonde chick in the Timeline Sigma 2023! :word:

After all, she is one of the second generation of X-Men in the movieverse:

Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, Emma Silverfox, Storm

She was rescued along with Cyke in Origins.

She was at the very end of DOFP :) Nice touch, Singer! :BA:BA:BA

BvS villains... How many and which one(s)?

After reading a recent rumor that 3 villains would appear to coincide with the presumed 3 heroes (Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman) and a mix of cameos that foreshadow future villains/hero characters... I was wondering what villain or combination of villains makes the most sense?

I think for years people have speculated after success of TAS versions, that the following combination would be very good:

Lex, Metallo, and Brainiac.

It has been a popular fan choice trio. What other combinations would work? Or do you feel Lex and Bruce dynamic with the rumored robots/drone army would be enough?

Rock bottom

How many here have hit it? That moment where it's so hard to envision a future. I was once doing very well making money, gaining my self respect back, but alcohol re-entered my life. This is rock bottom for me. Time to climb.

I saw this series recently befor I had my pc fixed and upgraded it was really interesting.

And it was pretty good and I'm waiting on the sequel too. kinda shock that it might be exclusive to XBone we'll if that will be the case down the road.
