The topic of medical aid in dying is a contentious subject. The Brittany Maynard Fund was established to lobby for the right to death with dignity, working with politicians to legalizes a full range of end-of-life options. Good Universe also has optioned the life rights of Brittany's husband, Dan Diaz, who survives her. Diaz will serve as an executive producer on the film, and will be heavily involved in its development.
