Not many people seemed interested in a tourney, so I just did the usual poll.
2014 has been a pretty disappointing year for a lot of gamers. Many huge delays. An unacceptable amount of broken releases. And more than a few high profile disappointments.
However, there have been some bright spots as well. I feel like this is the year where the "middle class" of games struck back. Where the AAAAA games disappointed, games that would normally be overlooked like Wolfenstein, and Shadow of Mordor, The Evil Within, and Lords of the Fallen delivered.
It was also a great year for independent developers. Whatever you think of them, games like Shovel Knight, Broken Age, The Banner Saga, and Goat Simulator to name a few, were huge successes.
So, what was your favorite game of this year?
