What movie gave you the most hype pre-release?

The first upcoming movie I ever felt tremendously excited about was Asterix & Obelix vs Caesar (1999). I was a huge fan of the Asterix comics as a kid and I found out about the movie in the most old-fashioned way possible: catching the poster at the theater. I hadn't even touched the internet back then, so that poster was a huge revelation to me: "They're making a MOVIE??!" I remember going to the mall just to stare at the thing. Then when the trailer came out it was my first taste ever of something being translated from the page into REALITY, with actors and music and actual voices coming out of the characters' mouths. It was such a feeling, God, I can't even tell you.

Then Harry Potter 1. Obsessive fan of the books, found out about the movie late in the game. As soon as I did I developed a weird mixture of envy and admiration for Dan Radcliffe. Then the trailer - whose audio I recorded in cassette to listen and re-listen, so to this day I can still recite it verbatim - and the many moneys spent in HP swag. Weird dreams were had, even.

Then finally Superman Returns. I had followed the development of the movie exhaustively with a :/ face all throughout, so when they announced Bryan Singer as director it was as if the friggin clouds had parted. The very first glitch was the reveal of the horrendous costume, but even then I was 100% confident in every single decision about the movie. No super villain, not much action in the trailers... I didn't give an eff. To make it all better, during the summer of 2005 I was doing internships in Germany in a nice Smallville-esque town full of wheat fields... and the girl I liked at the time looked EXACTLY like Kate Bosworth's Lois, glasses and all. I think I may live to be 100 and never again be as excited for a film as I was for SR.

Sorry for the novel. I like reading this kind of stuff from others, so I'm curious about hype stories. Feel free to share.
