Sony actually asked Raimi to comeback after the Marvel deal fell through. Guess Sony is finally realizing they aren't Marvel and can't keep stepping on every directors toes anymore.

Quick disclaimer I'm not saying Raimi is superior as a director to Marc Webb, I am simply saying Sony appears to be regretting their my way or the highway style of overseeing the production of the franchise (both Raimi and Webb's films included).
