Novice Bane Cosplayer looking for feedback

Greetings! So I've been a comic book fan all my life, enjoying the explosion of superheroes in the movies and tv there is right now. Been going to comic book conventions for years now. One of the coolest things in comic book convention is taking your picture with all the creative people that come dressed up as their favorite character or just one they might look like.

I've finally decided to make the jump from cosplay fan to cosplayer, hoping to hear any opinions/advice before this Friday when I hopefully will have the guts to cosplay, or maybe get persuaded against it, lol.
