Phobia's / Fears

What are everyone's phobia's or things that frighten them...

My two main phobia's are claustrophobia (absolutely chronic level) and heights or more to the point, ledges, with heights and my biggest 'fear' is clowns. masks, animatronic, robot humanoid stuff. I was terrible as a child, scared of most things but I put this down to having a very afertive imagination.

Do you like spiders?

What's really ironic for me is that growing up, Spiderman's always pretty much been my favorite superhero, but I HATE spiders. I wonder how many others relate, or disagree.

What don't you like about the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Spoilers)

I decided to make this thread because while I love the fact that the mcu exists, I don't like all of the things they've established in its respective universe, and all the liberties they're taking in changing from the source material. I realize that obviously comic book adaptations can never be a panel for panel adaptation, but I'll get into my specific complaints.

I'll start from the beginning. Iron Man, is a great film. Great, great film. I'll go so far as saying it still seems like one of the best MCU films. No major complaints here.

tih is also a good film. I didn't love it, but I liked it. No major complaints here either, however, I don't like how they've downplayed (what becomes of) the secondary villain. I heard there is a marvel one shot, or something of the sort that explains and deals with the evil dr. samuel sterns? Honestly, I'd rather they just make a sequel and feature him there somehow. but overall, this was a good installment to the mcu.

iron man 2 - the fact that this film came when it did is my main issue. people try to argue that tony stark isn't the main character in the mcu, when...he had the biggest role in avengers, and he's the only superhero to have two films in a single phase. the film didn't even do much to advance the mcu narrative imo. as for the film itself, i did not like it that much - i don't like how justin hammer's actor didn't find the necessity to do the british accent. i don't like how terrence howard was recast - i know it was done because he badmouthed marvel about not being paid as much as rdj. if i were marvel, i would've just gone to howard and told him to watch what he says if he wants to keep his job, instead of recasting him. i didn't much like the plot or the final act - i think finishing off whiplash would've been cooler in a combat duel between him and natasha romanov instead of the hand to hand beam between the iron superheroes.

OK, next up is thor. I think this film was really good too, but it came with some miscasting, but the first is a bit personal. i don't think stellan skarsgard is a good actor, I wish they'd've cast someone else as the professor. the other thing is heimdall. i hate how they skipped over the whole sibling thing with sif, just to racebend the character for no goddamn reason. now since the asgardians aren't exactly human, so it's not exactly the same as fant4stic, I would've been fine with it if they just included one line from heimdall calling sif "sister" or vice versa with sif calling heimdall "brother," or her showing more concern than everyone else when they got back to asgard at the end, but they didn't. it was changing a character's race and neglecting to incorporate other things about the character.

now the film was great, but here's another hting with that - it very largely felt like this film was there to set up and build up for the avengers. the reason being, the fact that the end credits had a line saying "thor will return in the avengers." what was the purpose of this message? wouldn't people just find out the following year? iron man 2 didn't end with "iron man will return in avengers"

captain america was pretty good. i'm not crazy about it but I think it was a good movie, overall. my only complaint is the same as thor. the ending very much felt like an indication that this film was just buildup for the avengers. correct me if i'm wrong but the post credit scene was pretty much just a teaser for the avengers.

avengers is one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. and it was great. admittedly I didn't pay much attention when phase 1 was still happening because my favorite superhero (spiderman) was being kept separate from it all. so during the previews, I expected the villain to be one that was so powerful, it would take several superheroes to fight against it. but it ended up being an overwhelming army instead. but, that's that. the most important thing was that it was the first piece of massive fruition that marvel studios showed us. i'm also not fond of how they faked coulson's death. makes it meaningless in this movie. i liked the character, but if this movie gets the viewer and the avengers to believe him dead, he should've been.

after av1, I heard that it was said that cap2 was gonna be the phase 2 film that had most to do/most affect from av1. why the hell did iron man 3 come first then? now I think the final act of this film was kickass, but I certainly was not a fan of the mandarin twist. people are just saying things like "people are just whining the mandarin twist was fine/okay/nothing to complain about" to me, that comes off as people feeling like the mcu can do no wrong. well, hell no. i was not fond of it, and that's that. yes, it grossed $1.2 billion, but I think it was hot coming off of av1. I wonder how much higher cap2 would've grossed if it was released in IM3's slot.

cap2 was amazing, I loved it. what I didn't like is how they were making cap look so perfect though. he had the upperhand in his battles with the winter soldier pretty much every time they fought. I'd have rather seen the winter soldier get the upper hand more of the time. he was intimidating, and that would make it even more intimidating. i also don't like how falcon didn't have all the aspects he did in the comics - such as the connections with actual birds. i'm hoping they'll touch upon that in the future, but I don't see it.

for thor 2, i thought it was okay, my main gripe was how they're handling loki. similar to coulson. like, I don't like what they're doing with his character. i could write more about it but here's a blog that explains it pretty well
https://ponderingsofacinephile.wordp...-world-ending/

guardians of the galaxy was fantastic as well, but as I mentioned in the beginning of this post - what I most dislike about changes from the adaptations, are the characters' origins. as I understand it, peter quill does not have quite the same origin as he does in the comics because his father isn't the same.

i have several complaints about av2, first being the romance between black widow and bruce, and writing hawkeye to have a wife and kids. smh. i wanted black widow and hawkeye to continue being a thing, and i HATE how they're pretty much letting betty ross go. i also don't like how they killed off quicksilver. for once, i hope that was a fake death though. his actor did sign a multifilm contract, so yeah. the only other thing is: i heard that originally, the plan was for av2 to be the infinity war, and av3 to be the civil war. but because of issues, they just wrote av2 to be another film against an army. this time of robots.

from my understanding, ant man was supposed to be the first phase 3 film but because of certain issues that are unclear, it became the final chapter of phase 2.

and cap3 is next up - I really don't like how the title is captain america and the subtitle is civil war. it's becoming so clear how this should've been titled as an avengers film or marvel's civil war - because if there are several main characters here, it really does not do justice calling this a captain america film.

The What Did You Do Today Thread! Are you productive or wasting life away? :p

Not my most productive day ever, but still did a fair bit. I took a final for one of my classes and passed (yay). I went on a trail run with my dogs. I was off from work, so watched some episodes of Pawn Stars. :D Currently working on a Power Point presentation for one of my classes, but distracting myself with internet and tv. :sly:

Close Encounters of the Conspiracy Theory Kind

I voted the 4th option because, even if my head screams to vote the last one, my humbleness say for me to vote that i'm not certain (which is true).
So, at this point in time, i'm 90% for "it's bs" and 10% for "i don't know".
But let me be clear in one thing, i utterly believe in alien life, i do not for a second believe we are the only intelligent race in the universe...i just don't quite believe they are here or did they ever.

For years, i was a big believer in all of this, i read a lot of books about this theme and even if my brain said to take things with a grain of salt, my superstitious side would always win.
After a few years down the road, i stopped reading/watching things about it.
3/4 years ago, on the internet, on a message board, i came in contact with a conspiracy theorist, which made me go back into it and making some research about it....and....to my own amazement...i found that my opinions had totally changed.
I came to that conclusion since my first reaction to the conspiracy theorist was of strong doubt and skepticism.
I realized that i never actually questioned myself, i just accepted it due to the fantastical nature of the idea and human superstition.
Now, i have very strong doubts and actually believe this to be one of biggest hoaxes in human history (i have a theory on why all this hoax, but i pray that i'm wrong).

I have no real respect for conspiracy theorists...
Not for them as people, but for their opinions about certain topics.
I have all respect for people that believe in something, i would be really hypocritical if i didn't since i believe in the afterlife, but the thing is that conspiracy theorists don't BELIEVE...they KNOW. They don't want the army or the government to agree with them, they want the army or the government to confirm what they already know to be true, and they will not accept anything else.
And that usurpation of knowledge is cringe-worthy.
--------------------------------------------

Now that we got that out of the way, my post goes about some stuff i found online.
Notice that this is not a PROOF OF ANYTHING, but it makes one think...
Let's start with Julian Assange, the once big guru of the conspiracy theorists community.
In June 7, 2014, Assange gave an interview in the “Live People’s Conference” and this is what he had to say:

Quote:

“I have said in passing there is information about UFOs in Cablegate. And that is true, but these are only small passing references. Most of the material concerns UFO cults, and their behavior in recruiting people. For instance, there is quite a large cable, which we’ll try and release in the next few days, concerning the Raelians, a UFO cult which has a strong presence in Canada and was of concern to the U.S. ambassador in Canada. At that time, the Raelians claimed to have cloned an individual, and fantastically, the press all around the world ate this up and turned it into front page stories.”
Continuing from the site i took this from:
Quote:

In other words, the WikiLeaks UFO cables are most likely predominately made up of inside dossiers regarding one of the most infamous UFO cults in the world: the Raëlians, who are well known for eccentric sex rituals, cloning experiments, and their belief that aliens created the human race and actively record our memories and DNA. Assange claims the WikiLeaks information pertains to the group’s recruitment practices.

So, after all this build up–no Area 51 gossip, no flying saucers, and no alien moon base Vines. And here’s the bigger irony: the WikiLeaks UFO cables are supposedly very critical of the Raëlians, who just last year awarded Assange the title of “Honorary Guide to Humanity”! Spurning their good will towards his group, Assange claims the Raëlian “weirdos email us about UFOs or how they discovered that they were the anti-christ whilst talking with their ex-wife at a garden party over a pot-plant.”

If you combine this with their critique of Scientology–not to mention their alignment with Anonymous, which has long since declared war on the Church of Scientology–it seems Assange and WikiLeaks are mobilizing against fringe conspiracy groups just as much as they are taking on governments and transnational corporations.

That is supported by something else Assange said: “I’m constantly annoyed that people are distracted by false conspiracies such as [those that surround] 9/11, when all around we provide evidence of real conspiracies, for war or mass financial fraud.”

We agree with this sentiment. Though we are voracious supporters of continued independent investigations into the countless anomalies that occurred on 911, we believe the struggle against corporatocracy and government corruption is far more pressing than alien speculation based on scant to non-existent evidence.

Furthermore, it’s a little odd to us that, despite heavy indications that the WikiLeaks UFO cables will not disclose anything in the way of contact with extraterrestrials, UFO enthusiasts are still trying to quite literally twist Assange’s words into alien conspiracy memes by, yes, playing his 60 Minutes interview in reverse to reveal encrypted messages from extraterrestrials.
http://ift.tt/1DG2Z0A

In other words, the man that found a lot of information about government secrets was unable to find anything alien related

Now, let's go to Edward Snowden, the second conspiracy theorist guru.
A couple of time ago (don't remember the date or year), this title appeared in several sites: UFOs Finally Turn Up in Documents Leaked by Edward Snowden.
But the truth was not out there, because the truth of what he found was:

Quote:

That document is a Powerpoint presentation from the British intelligence agency GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), titled simply enough "The Art of Deception: Training for a New Generation of Online Covert Operations", in which three of the fifty slides are images of 'UFOs'. Unfortunately, there is no text related to the images, so there could be a number of reasons for them being included - from pointing out people's belief systems, through to them possibly being part of actual psychological operations (psy-ops). The only clue might be that the images are listed under a heading of "Influence and Information Operations".
In the link below, you can see the 50 slides from the powerpoint presentation (the ufo ones are the 35, 36 e 37)
http://ift.tt/1DG2Z0E

In other words, the ufo are inside a powerpoint about DECEPTION. Someone in the British intelligence agency GCHQ made a parallel between ufo and deception.

And last, but not least, we have the research paper released in 1950 titled "Exploitation of Superstitions for Purposes of Psychological Warfare".
It doesn't say anything about ufo or aliens, but it's fairly easy to make the parallel and imagine that those practices are still used today by the army.
What other reason do you find for the government to be so interested in the psychological effects of the "War of the Worlds radio broadcast", that they gave a grand to the Princeton university to study it a few months after the event?
Here is the pdf: http://ift.tt/1DG2Z0G

Bottom line, we are very superstitious and easily deceived. We want to believe in the fantastical, in something bigger than us, since we don't have an answer to the two biggest questions of all, the ones that we are looking for an answer since the dawn of time: "What is out there" and "what happens after we die".

Question About Year (Spoilers)

Time and time again I've heard Wells (Eobard) say to some people they have been "dead for centuries", or something like that.

But the newspaper in the hidden room says 2024, which is less than a decade away.

When Eobard says 'centuries', he means at least 200 or more years. So the only year that makes sense to me is 2214 and above. So Eobard is from 2214 or above? Then what's the deal with the newspaper being from 2024? Why would Barry be living in 2214? This doesn't make any sense to me at all, but I think I just need it to be explained to me.

What Non-Big-2 Comics Would You Like to See Adapted?

Forgive me if this has been done before, but there are some indie and smaller studios that have made stuff that would be great on the big screen.

Two Image titles pop to mind immediately: Proof (Bigfoot as an FBI agent) and PirateNinjaViking. Chew might not be a great movie but would be a fantastic TV series.

Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor revealed as Yooka-Laylee, Kickstarter launching tomorrow
Published 3 mins ago. 0 comments.

Meet Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat.

Playtonic Games’ Project Ukulele, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, is officially titled Yooka-Laylee, the studio announced.
The game is developed by a team of former Rare staff who worked on the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games.
Yooka-Laylee stars Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat. They’re designed by Steve Mayles, the character artist who designed Banjo-Kazooie‘s Banjo and Kazooie.

Together, the pair will use their unique abilities to fight enemies and traverse the word. Yooka can use his tongue like a grappling hook, while Laylee can pick up Yooka and fly for a short period of time, or unleash a sonar blast.
A Kickstarter for Yooka-Laylee will launch tomorrow, giving backers the option to grab the finished game for $15 / £10. It’s planned for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC, though the exact timing of each version depends on the success of the Kickstarter campaign and its stretch goals.
View the first gameplay of Yooka-Laylee below.

Season 4 episode 1. Olissa: this is your ship

Shippers unit! Oliver and nyssa! I love it. Who is with me?!?? They could be a hot TV couple and if anything would end Olicty. I'm all for it. Would be a great "re-write" and having them have a kid named Conner to close out the series that Ollie has in the comics. I know he has one floating around but to me this works better.

Anyhow, all aboard toot toot!!!!

When does season 2 get put on netflix?

Thanks

After this movie comes out the TASM movies will become cult classics

Just watch lol. I'll be in the front row of the theatre day 1 lmao'ing at how much this ****'s gonna be ****'d up royally, and lol'ing hard at everyone who hated on The Amazing Spider-Man 1/2

They're going to turn Peter Parker into a Big Bang Theory character, calling it right now and they'll cast that butter kid. Will be full of lame jokes and be kiddy as hell. Come back to this thread after the movie is released.

Lmao @ everyone thinking the Marvel deal was a good idea, Sony was GOAT on their own

Unproduced planned prequel discussion-

So sources have been reporting over the past few days that Sony had planned on producing a prequel film to the Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Kraven the Hunter and Norman Osborn as the classic Green Goblin. A lot of people are bashing the idea of the film because the last film was poorly received (just like people complained about SM4 and many now admit it may not have been a bad idea), but from the sounds of it the premise could work. I mean yeah it's weird to go 1,2,1.5, but hey if Indiana Jones can skip around (2,1,3,4) then it could easily work here too. Might have even made TASM2 better in retrospect. However I don't think it would have been as profitable as the negative reception pretty much lead to fans demanding Spidey be brought into the MCU. Anyway your thoughts? (link to an article describing the un-produced flick bellow)-

Al Sam-Him in Central City

If Ra's is obsessed with getting rid of Oliver's identity then why is Oliver in League of Assassin garb fighting alongside Flash, Oliver's friend, against the Reverse Flash in Central City in an upcoming episode?

Which changes in the Special Editions do you like (if any)

I'll be honest, while I don't like many of the changes in the Special Editions, I grew up with the 97 edition and I can't take the Nub-Nub ending of Jedi seriously.

Who was the most accurate Bruce Banner?

Out of the three actors (Bana, Norton, Ruffalo), who was the most faithful portraying Bruce Banner from the Hulk comics?

(The Quicksilver threads inspired this.)

Your viewing of Phase 2 movies leading into Avengers 2?

For me:

Iron Man 3 - To see Stark being traumatized by his near death experience.

The Dark World - Cliffhanger with The Collector.

Guardians Of The Galaxy

The Winter Soldier - Cliffhanger with The Twins

Bottles in the Maximoff living room

There is one thing I wonder about since the movie came out: Is Pietro´s mom supposed to be an alcoholic? Or just untidy? There are so many bottles in that living room, one is Mountain Dew, but the rest look somehow as if they could have contained wine or some spirits or such.
I know silly details... but ... what do you think?

21 Jump Street Spin-off

http://ift.tt/1JBItX9

Quote:

After putting into motion a female-centric Ghostbusters, Sony Pictures is looking at gender-bending another one of its budding franchises, 21 Jump Street.

Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, writers who are working on Comedy Central’s buzzy Broad City, have been hired to write a female-driven Jump Street spinoff.

The move is aimed to broaden the franchise base for the franchise-light studio that is seeking ways to create its own cinematic universes.

Ghostbusters is on the forefront of the expansion, with not only a female-centric version that shoots this summer under the direction of Paul Feig and stars Melissa McCarthy among others, but a whole universe is being planned.

Men In Black is also getting a broadening of its definition with a cross-over being developed with 21 Jump Street for a feature to star Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

The two Jump Street movies have grossed over $530 million for Sony.

Aniello and Downs are repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment.

I don't see how it's possible for Marvel to do Civil War properly...

Ever since Civil War was announced I have been thinking that it is a terrible move by Marvel. What great Phase 4/5 material it would have been. Instead it is being stuffed in before Infinity War.

Here are my predictions:

- This movie is just going to basically be Cap VS Iron Man, not an all out war.

- They will make up for the fact that they are jumping the gun on this by using it to introduce Spidey. Everyone will be so thrilled they will forget the fact that this "war" has about 6 heroes in it.

Lets analyze potential heroes and villains in this "WAR":

- Cap
- Iron Man
- Black Widow
- Hawkeye (maybe)
- Spider Man
- Scarlett Witch
- Ant Man
- Black Panther (highly doubtful that he'll be in costume much)
- Vision
- Falcon
- War machine
- Hulk (doubtful)
- Thor (doubtful)

This is a skirmish, a bar fight, not a war. I am seriously wondering how on earth they can portray this as a civil war and not have it be laughable or a disappointment when your average Joe movie fan goes to see it and expects an actual war. In the comics, you have hundreds of heroes and villains fighting.

Because they are jumping the gun on Civil War, here are the heroes (and villains) they are leaving out of this:

All of the Inhumans
All of the Guardians
Captain Marvel
Fully fleshed out Black Panther
Dr. Strange
Thor (pretty sure he'll be dealing with Ragnarok)
Hulk (pretty sure on this too)

Thats roughly about 8 characters from Inhumans, 8 from GOG, and an additional 4-5 individuals NOT counting the other heroes and villains they would no doubt introduce once they have their own movies. Nearly 20-40 characters that will either not be in it at all or MAY suprise with a small cameo. Now I get it, some of these films don't hit for 3 years.

TL DR

My point is that they are jumping the gun. Civil War could be a 2 part movie and the next big thing they push after Infinity War. I don't understand why they are rushing to do this.

Can someone please explain how they can possibly do this even justice?

Greatest Cinematic Experience....

If you can, appreciate it's hard, but is there one cinematic viewing above all that defines or stands out for you as the most complete cinematic viewing experience and the reasons behind it.

For example, above and beyond, its seeing the original Superman (1978) in the cinema as a young boy, it set me up as the film maker I am today, made me wnat to be the film maker I am, is and to this day is my favourite superhero, the score, the experience, those scrolling titles, Reeve performance and the feel of it all as a child was just magical. To this day, I can remember my Dad taking me and the special time I hold dear to me.

How is Success measured ? After all it's a case of personal perspective....

We are told in life by all forms of media, what it means to be 'successful' and how that is measured by tangible goals or objectivity of material items, status, our level of job, standing in society etc. but really, what is success ? or it's measured form, it can come in many forms to people's life experiences and the start they had in life determining what follows ? How should we define our path & personal success in what we pursue in life.....

I did a good thing. But also probably a stupid thing.

Last night I got really drunk and met a nice homeless person that I bought dinner for. He had a huge dog. I talked to him and he didn't seem crazy, just a down on his luck person in his 20's. So I invited the guy and his huge dog to sleep on my apartment floor. This morning as I started to sober up (about an hour ago) I started to get really paranoid he would rob me or something worse while I was alseep. And I also worried about his dog being detected which would be grounds for immediate eviction. So I gave the poor guy the bum rush (whoa, poor phrasing there) and got him and his giant, against apartment code dog to leave before 7am. But he was cool with it and then I felt bad. And now I'm kinda mixed. If I could go back, I wouldn't do it again. Because it was an incredibly stupid, drunk decision. But I'm kinda proud of myself for giving someone shelter, even if I kinda kicked him out really early the next day. On the other hand, so much could have gone wrong. I hate to admit it, but I'm…. kind of relieved he's gone. I don't know…. has anyone else here ever done something well-intentioned, but in hind sight incredibly dumb? What do others think about this kind of situation?

Unstable Musical Cues- Glass and Beltrami's Score

http://ift.tt/1Ft7wtc

One of the things I'm most curious about is the score, and I asked him how that's coming along and how it affects the finished film. "The Philip Glass score and the music in general is a huge part of the tone of the film. It's something that Josh had in mind from the beginning of the process. The fact that we got him is insane. We used his music as the temp score. We talked about what we wanted the tone of the music to be, kind of thinking we wouldn't get him and we'd end up playing his music for whoever was scoring it. Marco Beltrami is working with him, so we have this really neat partnership. It's a unique tone for the movie. There's nobody else who has ever composed film music like him. There's a drama behind it that we're definitely going to try to get onscreen."

This is one of the things I'm really excited for!

The use of Glass in Watchmen was one of the highlights.

New Coke - From Zombieland/Deadpool Team

http://ift.tt/1Ft7wt6
Quote:

‘Deadpool’ Scribes Wernick & Reese Uncap Pic On Disastrous New Coke Launch

EXCLUSIVE: Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, the scribes behind Zombieland and the X-Men spinoff Deadpool, next will craft a movie about the disastrous launch of New Coke, perhaps the worst product introduction since the Edsel. Last week marked the 30th anniversary of when Coca Cola veered from the secret formula that had been around since the 1890s, to unveil what the company hoped would be a new and improved drink for a younger generation. It went so flat it imperiled its venerable market leading soft drink.

The scribes have used their own money to option the Thomas Oliver book The Real Coke, The Real Story. Oliver was the business reporter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution who covered the company closely when the so-called improved formula was introduced and summarily rejected by Coke drinkers. The duo will write the script and produce a period piece set in the vibrant 80s that will convey how a perceived threat by number two rival Pepsi driven home by a clever “Pepsi Challenge” marketing campaign led to corporate panic, even though Coke was outselling its rival two to one. Fox’s Deadpool, with Ryan Reynolds starring and Tim Miller directing, is currently in production and will be released February 12, 2016. WME reps the scribes, who also scripted G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

This game seems to be a set that really splits community's, you either love it or don't, personally I love the lore behind it and while the games are repetitive and nothing really changes I'll admit I enjoy them

Though I did feel what made the series famous is its major fault simply that while its a great story and some interesting elements it's become to known to a bunch of muppets on YouTube mugging for he camera

And with the rumours of a movie version I don't see it stopping growing

So what do you think

The Elf-Men

The Elf-Men is a team of superheroes I have created whose members are the children of popular holiday characters.

They are,
Kit Kringle - the son of Santa Claus.

Emit Biggles - he son of both Father Time and Mother Nature.

Isaac Frost - the son of Jack Frost

Ken Kringle - the son of the Halloween King, and cousin to Kit Kringle

And, Aurora Borealis II - the daughter of Aurora Borealis I. She will actually be going by her nickname, Aura, and she will be the girlfriend of Emit.

The team is formed due to a lack of holiday spirit. Kit decides to go to the human world and do what he can to revive the holiday spirit. When he gets to America, he finds he must also battle those who would cause corruption and thereby continue to diminish the holiday spirit. He is joined by his two best friends, his cousin, the girlfriend of one of his best friends and four reserve members.

Kit's superpowers are the same as Santa Claus'.

Emit has the combined powers of his father's (time control) and his mother's (control over nature) and is the most powerful member of the team.

Isaac Frost has the power to freeze things and is both the smartest and strongest member,

Ken Kringle's powers are mostly like Santa Claus' with alterations, he can tell what a person fears and, if necessary, use it to set them straight. There is a drawback to this power, if he uses the fear continuously or extensively, his victim can overcome their fear. Also, due to this power, he's taught himself to see the flaws in anything, and is the team's master strategist.

Aurora Borealis II can create light. I'm also thinking about giving her power over electricity and magnetism.

The group also likes to have fun fighting crime, as such, instead of giving them the traditional tights for their costumes, they will be wearing sports attire for their costumes, complete with a luchador style mask.

I also have four reserve members

The Sandman - the only member of my team who is based off the actual character and not the child of one. He can make people fall asleep, take sleep from people, and enter people's dreams. His role on the team is as mentor, he also records their activities and reports back to Santa Claus.

Peter Black - the son of Santa Claus' head elf. He is super fast, highly intelligent and can create anything. He created all of the teams' gadgets, weapons and vehicles. He is also the teams' sidekick/mascot.

Patrick Samson - the son of Uncle Sam. His powers are somewhat similar to Captain America's. However, just as the power level of Kit Kringle's abilities is dependent on Christmas spirit, Patrick's power level is dependent on the American spirit. And it's because the American spirit is also dwindling, he and his twin sister decide to join them. His position on the team is to teach them about American culture, a role he shares with his sister as he will mostly be aiding the American military

And,
Liberty Samson - the daughter of Uncle Sam. Again, her powers are similar to Captain America's, but her power level is dependent on the American spirit, which also adds to her beauty. Just as her brother's primary objective is to aid the American military, hers is to provide support to the families of the soldiers.

Paladin - The Anti-Vampire

From one man's paranoia comes a new breed of vampire, the Paladin.

Jonathan Saint was a man who lived a life of purity. He did not drink, smoke or use any other form of mind-altering substances. He also did not practice premarital or even extramarital sex, cuss, lie or cheat. He respected everyone he met, and believed in the golden rule. He had many friends and few enemies, but even thenk he wasn't perfect, he lived in constant fear of being turned info a vampire. Due to his paranoia, every few months, he would let out a pint of his blood, stored it in a cooler and than hid it where it would be untraceable by vampires.

After a few years, his paranoia become a reality as he was attacked and then turned into a vampire. When he awoke after being attacked, he resisted the urge to kill for his first taste of blood, and instead went to where he kept his own blood, and drank from it.

That night, Jonathan dreamed that he was approached by the angel Gabriel and was told that because he lived a life of purity and because he managed to resist the urge to kill, despite being recently turned, he would become a new breed of vampire, and as long as he continued to live a life of purity, he need never fear becoming a regular vampire.

Skype group for Marvel Fans. - Become friends and converse. :)

Hello Marvel Fans. :)

I've created a Skype group with the hopes of gathering people with the similar interest of loving Marvel productions, and creating a place where people can make friends and also dive into marvel discussions. In this group we talk about whatever we feel like, although most the time it's about the MCU, because that is the focus of the group. :)

I'm here looking for people that are interested in making new friends and that also want to talk about Marvel. :) For some of us, we don't have friends to geek out over the MCU with, and this is my solution to that problem. A skype group full of friends, geeking out over Marvel. If this is something you are interested in being apart of, please pm me, your skype name and i can add you to the group.

The only requirement is that you respect the purpose of the group. This means, being active in the group and joining in on the conversation as often as possible (we understand that you have a life, believe me. but try to check in AT LEAST once every few days). We are only looking for people genuinely interested in making friends and talking. We've gotten many members who join, never say anything and then eventually leave the group. I'm trying to prevent that as best as possible to build a nice community. We've currently 40 members and have just started doing Group Competitions, the first one being a Marvel quiz that you can take to test your knowledge. We look forward to seeing you in chat. :) :)

Are you a self-loathing nerd?

Can you stand proud and proclaim your nerddom or look upon your fellow nerd without feeling the slightest bit of shame over it? Because I honestly don't know that I can.

Modern fan culture is just rubbing me the wrong way. Every time there's a Comic Con or something or other, there's always someone on stage saying that fandom is so great and yadda yadda yadda, but it really feels like the rage-prone psychos that you would find on Tumblr outnumber the more sensible fans.

There Will Be No Adam Warlock (spoilers)

If you've seen Age of Ultron, then you know that Vision has been combined with Adam Warlock, with the mind gem embedded in his forehead, and he will replace Adam Warlock in Infinity War.

The reason for this is likely because Warlock is owned by Fox because of his origin in Fantastic Four comics. I'm still unsure how I feel about this. They aren't simply sticking the mind gem in Vision's head to augment Vision and use him in Warlocks place-- they used Warlock's origin with the cocoon and synthetic tissue.

If this Animated movie is a success would they continue it into a series?

I doubt Ultimate Spider-Man will still be around by then so would this be the next animated Spider-Man series

Avengers: Age of Ultron Fan-Art

Let's have a thread for all the amazing fan art from Age of Ultron.

I will start by posting some artwork from a cover of an Australian newspaper.

Wonderful isn't it?

I can't wait to see how this thread will develop.

What if they created a MCU with Blade in 1998

Followed by X-Men and Spider-Man how different would things have been

Hunting Black Sky

Steven DeKnight said there is a visual clue to what Black Sky is in episode one and it's in one of Nobu's scenes. There is the meeting scene where Nobu doesn't do anything and the only things references about him are that he doesn't seem to feel cold and he's japanese.

"There is a mention of Black Sky in another episode that isn’t episode seven. If fans look closely at episode one, you will find a reference to Black Sky. It’s a visual reference to Black Sky and that's important to Nobu and his people.""

His other scene is at the end with a bunch of plans on a table, below are screencaps of them.

The only other thing I noticed was a symbol on his belt and the pin on the collar of this shirt.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys, i'm doing an article and I'm trying to figure out how many people has Spiderman actually killed.

I found this article (http://ift.tt/1PERDCS), but apart from a few obvious ones, is it accurate? I'm thinking he's killed 7?(whether they came back or not doesn't matter) Moondark, Drom, Charlemagne, Whisper-3, Shade, Digger and Morlun

Height insecurity

Okay, so I'm 5'6", and generally and objectively speaking, I'm short. The thing is, I shouldn't care so much about it, but I do. It really annoys me that I am the height that I am and quite honestly I'm...insecure about it. And I don't want to say this to be pitied - it's not like I am the only man in the world of this height, it just bothers me a lot and I wonder if anyone could relate.

It's bothered me so much that I was thinking of requesting a name change from XB to --> Shortman. deadass.

I like acting a lot and I've always hoped and wished someday I could be one, but it'd be hard enough considering I'm a minority, but the fact that I'm short destroys my hypothetical and potential chances even more. It's kinda depressing.

The First Reverse-Flash?

It's been on my mind since the big revelation about Eobard Thawne saying he's a distant relative of Eddie.
Is Eobard the first person to call himself Reverse Flash or could through some freaky chain of events Eddie gets powers and calls himself Reverse Flash as a villain? Could it be possible there could be some kind of family feud Eddie and Barry's families in the future?

did the particle accelerator really create Flash?

This has been bugging me for a while now in Thawne's original timeline he said Wells successfully activated his accelerator in 2020, meaning no explosion so how could it have given Barry his powers? Plus if we assume that it did, then Flash would only have been active for 4 years before he disappears in the crisis, not a very long time to have a long-standing rivalry with Thawne and train and master his abilities to the point where he can control jumping through time.

I believe that in the other timeline the lightning still struck Barry, it's his destiny to be the Flash Thawne moved up the accelerator's construction solely to give himself a way into Barry's life

Submerged

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Quote:

Submerged is a serene adventure set in a city that has mysteriously become flooded and overgrown. It follows the story of siblings Miku and Taku — the pair arrive in this strange place in a boat, and Miku has to carry her wounded brother Taku to shelter before she can start gathering the supplies she’ll need to nurse him back to health.

But to do that, she’ll have to find the supplies first! She will have to explore using her boat and telescope, locate the forgotten caches, then climb the crumbling buildings to retrieve them.

As she traverses the sunken metropolis, Miku starts to uncover the secrets of how this world came to be. And in turn, we begin to learn about Miku and Taku: what drove them to this mysterious city, where the only inhabitants appear to be malformed copies of the native sea-life?

Submerged is a game that we want players to immerse themselves in (no pun intended). We use Unreal Engine 4 to create the gorgeous graphics that you see above. We’ve enlisted BAFTA-Award Winner Jeff Van Dyck to provide the musical score. The gameplay is designed with no failure states: play at your own pace, safe in the knowledge that you’ll never die. It all adds up to create a relaxing, mysterious adventure that everyone can enjoy.

No strings on me... Ultron's Origin (Spoilers)

Think it's time we discussed the origin of Ultron!

For me, I thought it was messy. I still don't know where he came from...

From what I remember;
  • Stark analyses the sceptre
  • He "discovers" an AI
  • He uses the sceptre as a memory dump of sorts to process it
  • Ultron just appears
So, was he stored within the sceptre? Was he an experiment of Strucker's? (he does hint at more work going on) And if he's in the sceptre, who put him there?!

Discuss :D

With an older Batman in the DCCU, would you support a Batman Beyond film later on?

After Batman v Superman, after Justice League, after The Batman and maybe The Batman 2, Affleck would be well into his 50s and his character would certainly be aged after those battles.

If the DCCU is still going strong by then, would you support them having a successor to Batman, with a film similar to the Batman Beyond series where we have Bruce mentoring a new Batman? I would, and it would be something new to Batman's big screen career. We've never really seen him have a successor except for the comics and on TV.

EDIT: Got another idea. Superman in his final solo film faces off against Doomsday and sacrifices himself to kill the beast. Batman retires, gives the reigns to his sidekick, Tim Drake, (or Terry McGinnis like BB) and as the Justice League fades out, a new group forms to replace them with new Batman and some other new characters (with Ezra as The Flash, they could make him the older leader). This then leads to a Kingdom Come type story where the OGs and Superman makes his triumphant return to stop the new irresponsible superheroes.

What was the best film of phase 2?

Now with age of Ultron added.

I think it's tough because phase 2 was wonderful, vastly superior to phase 1. I reckon he winner has to be captain America 2 the winter soldier though

Hulk vs. Hulkbuster discussion

FORGOT TO PUT "SPOILERS" IN THE TITLE, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE.

Can one of the mods edit the title to include "Spoilers"? Thanks. Then I'll delete this note.

One of the best fights in all of CBM history. Where do you guys rate it?

The beginning of the fight was very cool, when Hulk was rampaging throughout Johannesburg. It was actually quite terrifying when they showed it from the pov of those who were there (like the people in the car). It was almost like it was being filmed by a documentary crew or people from their smartphones.

And yes….Hulk did get KO’d but I interpreted it to be when he beginning his transformation back to Banner after the spell wore off, and he saw the destruction & terrified people. No way Hulkbuster would other be able to beat him otherwise.

Your thoughts? Agree/disagree?

Storm breaks the sound barrier in X-men #26

A confirmation that Ororo Munroe aka Storm can fly faster than the speed of sound. :)

Age of Ultron (Warning: Possible Spoilers)

Just saw it.
Loved it - fantastic.

BUT...

I think Marvel is shooting itself in the foot by showing too many previews/trailers on you tube etc - way too many. 2 before a movie is enough. There must be about 10 previews/trailers right now?

ALSO...(possible spoiler)

Thor is way, way understrengthed in the movies. He's supposed to be only just short of a calm Hulk in strength for goodness sake.

I will give AOU an 8.5/10. Would have been 9 if not the for the Youtube spoilers.

AoU Post-credits scene discussion (*SPOILERS*)

I think this deserves its own discussion (although if not feel free to delete).

So can we assume that Thanos has paid a visit to Asgard, possibly with the aid of Loki (disguised as Odin) where he retrieved the gauntlet?

This is a huge development. He is obviously going to be in Thor 3: Ragnarok, probably in a supporting role now as opposed to just a quick appearance.

Thoughts?

My life is pointless!

I don't know what I am supposed to do. I work a job I hate cant find a new job no matter how much I try yet other people try way less and get a new job. My boss wont movie me up and I cant stand her. Just stuck and fell hopeless and worthless. I need to movie up but I cant and I cant find a new job either. I just don't know what to do any more. I don't know why I am alive and what the point is for me to be alive any more. I guess I am just alive so I can streghts out all the time has all I do is work and streghts out. Fell like even god doesn't like me or something. I wish I was dead. My life has no purpose at all. I am 25 no GF never been out on a date only have a few friends. Fell like if I died right now no one outside of my family would even care. Life is just pointless and I should just end it now. I have nothing to live for and I just keep getting older and older and nothing ever changes. Yes I am only 25 but I fell much older because all my life is woreing about crap. What's the point any more!

Well now I at least know what will end me.

Do You Feel?

For all intents and purposes I'm essentially a robot. It takes something pretty drastic to make me feel emotion and it's been that way for over 10 years. I was always a bit of a hot-head growing up but nowadays even if I get angry it subsides pretty quickly. So my question to you Hypesters is do you feel? Are you a very emotional person? I often wonder what it would be like to run the gambit of normal human emotions like other people

Should all the defenders fight each other?

It's become a bit of a cliche that when superheroes crossover they always have to fight each other but I would still love to see daredevil versus iron fist for example in particular

Doctor strange to visit iron fist

http://ift.tt/1bCg8Co

What do you think? Would you like to see benedict cumberbatch appear in iron fist? I think it might be intriguing but hopefully it won't slow the plot down in the iron fist series.

It might be interesting that doctor strange was trying to get to K'un lun after his accident but unlike Danny he didn't make it and just got trained by a straggler or an outpost instead.

Or maybe doctor strange's testimony might be what encourages wendell to try to find K'un lun, kicking off the iron fist mythology?

E3 2015

It's almost May. Which means it's almost June. Which means it's almost time for E3!

The Players

Microsoft
I don't think any console (save for maybe the Saturn) has had a more blunderous start than the Xbox One, but Microsoft has done a very admirable job of attempting to right their wrongs and address customer concerns and feedback. Last year's E3 press conference was a great showing for them with a strong focus on games. Will they repeat that strategy this year?

Nintendo
Nintendo is such a puzzling and unpredictable company. On many fronts they're laughably behind the times, but every once in a while they bust something out so forward-thinking and so game-changing it's hard to reconcile that it came from the same company. When Nintendo announced last year that they weren't going be doing a press conference it came across as sad and submissive, but also worrisome given the terrible performance of the Wii U. The "livestream" (in quotes because the word doesn't really do it justice) they did instead was phenomenal and made press conferences seem instantly outdated and I fully expect the other hardware manufacturers to follow suit in the years ahead.

On the video game front, I'm unfortunately not expecting much. They confirmed Zelda is going to be a no-show. They're also only showing games releasing this year. Aside from Star Fox getting a proper first showing and possibly one of Miyamoto's new games making an appearance, I really don't see anything big happening. Or might they have some surprises up their sleeve?

Sony
The Playstation 4 is still a strong seller, and from a game perspective last year Sony had an alright press conference, but they fell into the trap of trying to bolt on too much non-game stuff to their show. Sony can't afford to waste time on crap like that this year because outside of Bloodborne, the Playstation 4's exclusive game lineup has been piss poor. They NEED to make some big game announcements, and they need to make several of them. Sony has barely anything announced for the rest of this year and they don't have a single big holiday game. Hopefully they'll have some cool stuff to show off. Can Sony redeem the faith that gamers placed in them at the outset of this generation or will they burn their audience?

The Third Parties

EA
EA will have their usual glut of sports games to show, however they also have some other stuff that might be of more interest to more people. For starters there's Battlefront, and there are two other Star Wars games they're working on as well. I'm not expecting them to give either of them a big showing, but it's possible there might be a tease for one of them. Then there's also Mass Effect. They already teased that last year, so I'm expecting a full reveal this time.

Ubisoft
I think Ubisoft's is the most predictable out of all the press conferences. Assassin's Creed. Weird French humor. Just Dance. Artsy small game. Tom Clancy. Repeat. Maybe some Rayman if you're lucky. Hopefully they've got something fresh this year.

The New Challengers

Square Enix
It's been a number of years since Square held a press conference at E3, but they're back this year and presumably with a lot to show. Final Fantasy, Deus Ex, Star Ocean, Tom Raider, and Dragon Quest are all pretty safe bets, but I wonder if they'll have anything new to announce.

Bethesda
For the first time ever Bethesda will have a press conference of their very own. No one knows for certain, but everyone is assuming this is the moment for Fallout 4 and Doom 4 to finally make a debut. Beyond that though, I have no clue what else there is for Bethesda to talk about and that's kind of exciting.

Schedule

Microsoft - ???
Nintendo - ???
Sony - ???
EA - ???
Ubisoft - ???
Bethesda - June 14, 7 PM PT
Square Enix - June 15, 9 AM PT

Do you have anything to add? What prognostications do you all have to share? What games are you most excited to see?

I think now is a good time to speculate or post images from the trailer that weren't in the film...

The Confederate flag

Starting this thread from a thread I saw on another forum. I've seen people have this flag on their cars, on their myspace/facebook pages, I've seen rock bands sporting it as well.

Knowing the origin that this flag was born on/from...what are your thoughts on certain people still expressing it in modern day?

EDIT: as for the poll, I didn't want to ask "is it wrong that people still use the confederate flag" or "is it racist that people are still using the confederate flag" or anything like that because technically in america, people have the right to use the confederate flag if they wish because of freedom of speech. but the question is moreso like a, do you get a smh feeling when you see it.

My Free Web Comic: Raised

Hi SHH Community:

I've been a reader at the site for a long time and a lurker on the forums for months, but finally decided to make a forum account. I wrote and drew my own comic book called Raised and posted it online for free. I'm not a professional, there are no ads, and I'm obviously not making any money off of it, so hopefully it is okay to post a link here in case anyone in the SHH community is curious. I'll also gladly accept criticism, since I plan on doing this again in the future and can always use pointers.

Its hard to give a brief synopsis of the story without giving anything away, but I will caution that it is not a superhero story. Rather, its a coming of age story with a twist. That's probably the best way to explain it without over-sharing.

Without further adieu:
