New titles announced at Inti Create Fan Festa 2015.  Inti Creates announced two new titles during its Inti Creates Fan Festa 2015 at Harajuku Astro Hall in Shibuya today. Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (3DS)  Following the success of last year’s Azure Striker Gunvolt, Inti Creates is developing a sequel for 3DS. Further details were not announced, but director Yoshihisa Tsuda shared artwork teasing a mysterious “Masked Man” boss. Thanks, Inside Games. Gal Gun Sequel (Platform Unannounced)   The next game in the Gal Gun series is in development under publisher Alchemist. Set at Sakurazaki Third High School one year after the events of the previous game, the sequel to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 rail shooter (or “3D gun shooting game”) is built on the Unreal Engine. Inti Creates shared a teaser trailer at the event, introducing characters Shinobu Kamizono, Maya Kamizono, and Kurona.   The new Gal Gun is due out in Japan later this year.   |
Cartoon Network’s ‘Adventure Time’ Heads To Big Screen At Warner Bros. by Anita Busch EXCLUSIVE: Adventure Time, one of the most popular shows on Cartoon Network, is being developed at Warner Bros. for the big screen as an animated feature. Created by Pendleton Ward at Cartoon Networks Studios, Adventure Time follows the escapades of 12 year-old boy Finn and best friend dog Jake who fight fiercely in a quest to protect their beloved Land of Ooo, usually from the Ice King who is searching high and low for his Princess Bubblegum. The project will be produced by the winning combo of Chris McKay and Roy Lee. McKay (on of the exec producers of The Lego Movie) was recently hired to direct The Lego Batman Movie at Warner Bros. and also was the genius behind Robot Chicken. Lee is producing The Lego Batman Movie and also produced Warner Bros.’ groundbreaking animated The Lego Movie along with Dan Lin. That film broke box office records when it bowed last year to $69M for the studio; it has since grossed a whopping $468.7M worldwide. Cartoon Networks Studios will be involved in the production as will Pendleton and who have some involvement in writing and producing the feature version. The Lego Movie filmmakers are also behind Ninjago, based on the ninja-themed LEGO line which anchors a hit TV animated Cartoon Network series of the same name. And, The Lego Movie sequel is also in development at the studio. It’s the brilliant little animated gift that keeps on giving and just as that movie spawned The Lego Batman spinoff, Adventure Time has the same franchise potential as it cuts across all demos to become a cultural phenom. Jon Berg and Cate Adams are overseeing the project for Warner Bros. The fantasy Adventure Time has a bevy of unusual (and cleverly named) characters ranging from Boobafina, Earl of Lemongrab, Cloud Groom, Evil Guy (voiced by Mark Hamil), Lumpy Space Princess, Flame Princess and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Cloris Leachman), to name a few. A number of celebs have lent their voices to the fun romp through the Land of Ooo, including George Takei, Pee-Wee Herman’s Paul Reubens, Neil Patrick Harris, and Andy Samberg. Leonardo DiCaprio is gunning for an Oscar and he’ll play just about anybody — or rather, everybody — to get one, as the four-time acting nominee is set to star in New Regency’s multiple personality tale “The Crowded Room,” TheWrap has learned. After nearly 20 years of circling the role of Billy Milligan, DiCaprio has committed to play the first person to successfully use multiple personality disorder as a defense in a court of law. Milligan was put on trial in the late 1970s after being accused of raping three women at Ohio State University, as well as committing robbery. Milligan had 24 personalities including Adalana, a lesbian who took responsibility for the rapes; Ragen, a Yugoslavian communist who confessed to the robbery; and Arthur, an uptight Englishman. Milligan’s lawyers argued that his alternate personalities committed the crimes without his knowledge, and he subsequently became the first person to be acquitted using the defense of a multiple personality disorder diagnosis. Milligan died last December, perhaps paving the way for Hollywood to finally tell his story. DiCaprio’s Appian Way will produce “The Crowded Room” with New Regency, which is currently producing DiCaprio’s next movie “The Revenant.” DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson will produce with Alexandra Milchan. Screenwriter Jason Smilovic will adapt Daniel Keyes’ nonfiction book about Milligan for New Regency, which has been developing the project for several years. |

Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen have enlisted two popular YouTubers to revive the classic 1970s children's TV series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart are set to star in a modern reboot of the popular franchise from Sid and Marty Krofft. Helbig will star as Electra Woman and Hart will star as Dyna Girl, two superheroes who move from Akron, Ohio, to Los Angeles in the hopes of making it big in the crime-fighting world. Electra Woman and Dyna Girl is a sci-fi series that aired a single season in 1976 as part of The Krofft Supershow. WB commissioned a pilot of a revival in 2001 that never made it to series. This version of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl will be executive produced by the Kroffts. Fullscreen will debut and distribute the series in the United States and Legendary Television Distribution will oversee global distribution. Chris Marrs Piliero, known for directing music videos for artists including Ariana Grande and The Black Keys, will direct the series. Helbig, Hart and their managers Ken Treusch and Sarah Weichel, respectively, will serve as executive producers. The project is produced by Tim Carter and Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner, which recently produced Dead Rising: Watchtower with Legendary Digital Media. "Legendary is no stranger to the world of superheroes and we're excited that Sid & Marty Krofft's Electra Woman and Dyna Girl will mark the first female crime-fighting duo for our brand," said Legendary Digital Media senior vp development and production Greg Siegel. "Partnering with Fullscreen to deliver top quality digital content for our global fan base is an exciting next step for our growing digital division. I look forward to seeing how Grace and Hannah bring these caped crusaders back to life." Added Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos: "This is basically our plot to break the Internet in 2015. After teaming with Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner on Les Miserables, director Tom Hooper and actor Eddie Redmayne are reuniting with them on The Danish Girl, a film inspired by the novel written by David Ebershoff. The film is a love story about Danish painters Einar Wegener and his wife Gerda. In 1930, Wegener was one of the first men ever to undergo operations to become a woman. Hooper, who won the Best Picture Oscar for The King’s Speech, hasn’t declared a follow to Les Miserables. He’s attached to direct this, and Redmayne will play the artist in what will be a most challenging role. Lucinda Coxon adapted the screenplay. Gail Mutrux developed the film and will produce through her Pretty Pictures banner alongside Anne Harrison and Linda Reisman. Working Title’s Fellner and Bevan will produce with Hooper. Hooper’s repped by ICM Partners and Independent Talent Group in the U.K., and Redmayne is repped by CAA and manager Gene Parseghian. |
Du nuh nuh nuh nuh, Inspector Gadget is coming to Netflix. The absolutely amazing 80s gadget adventure show is being resurrected in CGI form along with the amazing 80s spy show Danger Mouse and three other kids' shows. The best part? This is happening very soon. Inspector Gadget premieres on March 27. Obviously, we're all concerned that 21st century producers could ruin a 20th century classic, but the outlook sounds pretty good for now. Variety reports the plot of the new Inspector Gadget show will revolve around the dreaded Dr. Claw reactivating M.A.D., his global crime syndicate, and Inspector Gadget is tasked with stopping him. It remains unclear if Inspector Gadget will bring back the mustache he rocked in the original pilot. The Netflix better not change that theme song, though. |

This comes as Amy Pascal steps down/was fired after the events of the hack, and just a week after Marvel announced they were working with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rothman used to run Fox during one of the great studio's low periods. He was cheap, so the movies often made money, but Fox was turning out absolute **** during his tenure. What's more, Rothman hates superhero movies, and he personally blocked a Deadpool film and refused to allow Sentinels to be used in an X-Men film. Like, he said in a meeting 'no giant robots.' Rothman became famous among nerds for micromanaging X-Men Origins: Wolverine to the point where he demanded sets be repainted without telling director Gavin Hood. It's pretty likely that the Marvel/Fox split (which is so ugly I can't even tell you - the two companies literally trolled each other in the media, which is what led to that Galactus being swapped for Daredevil story at one point) has a lot to do with Rothman. And now he's running Sony. He'll likely bring his tight purse strings to a studio that needs to stop bleeding cash, but what else will happen? Sony, for all of its other problems, has been trying some fun stuff, stuff I can't see happening under Rothman. Will that 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover just go away now? And what's going to happen to Spider-Man? Last week I was pondering what exactly the Marvel/Sony deal looked like - what was written in stone, what kind of time frame Marvel has to work with Spidey, stuff like that - and it was because whoever followed Pascal in Sony's driver's seat was a wild card. Would they be into what Marvel was doing, or would they want to squash it? I feel like Tom Rothman could become the JJJ to Marvel's Spider-Man. We'll see what happens. I don't feel like this is great news for anybody who likes movies, to say the least. I really thought Rothman was done, that his eon had passed and he was moving on. Guess not. And to all the Sony publicists who will have to deal with Rothman's ire in the coming months and years: sorry, especially for when he gets mad about stuff we run here. |
