For those seeing this in 3D and IMAX 3D, or those on the fence to see 3D or not. Spend the money for 3D, preferably IMAX 3D if you can.
This is quite simply the best post conversion 3D film to date, and perhaps the 2nd best 3D movie with Avatar taking the lead for obvious reasons.
The post conversion 3D technology has come such a long way, and the spectacle is unbelievable in this film. There are scenes that are just beautiful to see and harkens back to some of the great sci-fi movies of the past.
The 3D craze took off with Avatar, but I think audiences were so reluctant because the quality was spotty. In Avengers Whedon chose a different aspect ratio because it was easier to post convert, but after this film, I think people have found a way to go for the wider aspect ratio but still achieve a high quality of visual effects through the post conversion.
It will be interesting to see if Audiences will become more willing to embrace 3D with these breakthroughs in technology. It also will be interesting to see if any other film can match the quality of these visuals in post conversion 3D.
