Big changes?

So spider man and 2 where consider great then we had spider man 3 witch was consider bad then the amazing spider man witch was consider ok sligly good and now sounds like the amazing spider man 2 is bad. So with 3 movies in a row not being liked all that while do you think we could see some big changes going forward if this movie makes less then the first one? I mean that would be 2 in a row that have made less then the one before and if you think about it not nearly has many people are into this movies has the first 3 could we see new writers or derecter or something for the amazing spider man 3?

The OFFICIAL Mole Man/Tim Blake Nelson Thread

Quote:

Tim Blake Nelson is in final negotiations to join the cast of 20th Century Fox’s reboot of The Fantastic Four.

Josh Trank is directing the movie, which once again focuses on the Marvel Comics quartet of scientist-adventurers Reed Richards (Miles Teller), aka Mr. Fantastic; his best friend Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell), aka The Thing; his girlfriend Sue Storm (Kate Mara), aka The Invisible Woman; and her brother, Johnny (Michael B. Jordan), aka The Human Torch.

Toby Kebbell is playing the villain, Doctor Doom.

Nelson will play Harvey Elder, an eccentric and socially awkward scientist.

In comics lore, Elder is actually the Mole Man, shunned by humanity and leader of a subterranean group of monsters known as the Moloids.

Sources say the Mole Man will not appear in this movie but Elder’s appearance does set up the character to be the villain in future installments of the franchise. Fox did not comment on the plans.

Simon Kinberg wrote the script and is producing with Hutch Parker.

Is It Ever Acceptable for a Man to Hit a Woman?

I had a discussion about this at work today. It was a very interesting conversation to say the least. I'd like to know the opinions of you all. There is no neutral response to this question. There is no "a human being should never hit another human being." That's a cop out. It's either a "yes" or a "no." Insert any hypothetical scenario. Use your imagination.

Is it ever acceptable for a man to hit a woman?

Disclaimer: I am not an advocate for domestic abuse.

London Premiere

So like a good exciteable fanboy, I'm applying for every competition to win tickets to the Premiere in London. In the unlikely event I don't win (yeah right... :whatever: ) I'm thinking I might duck out of work early and go into London and see what's going on.

I've never done this before so I'm just wondering what goes on at these things? Do I need to get there like 4 hours early? Or can I rock up an hour or two before the Premiere and just hang around?

Just makes me more frustrated to be honest. There does seem to be some gold in this film at times.

What if this film gets nominated for a razzie

do you think it's possible the reviews so far hasn't been kind

Did Andrew Garfield know that this film would be mixed with the critics?

Why did he say screw the critics a couple of weeks ago it's like he knew whats the reviews are going to be

Change ONE thing in each film.

Thought it'd be a fun game. I wonder what will be harder, changing something in something good like SM2, or just picking one thing in a hot mess like SM3 haha

My picks:

Spider-Man - Changing the Goblin suit came to mind, but I have to go with removing the line: "You're the one who's out Gobby, out of your mind!" Please, please make it go away.

Spider-Man 2 - One thing that always bothered me is that Dr. Ock gets his own phrase wrong at the end of the film. Peter is reminding him that intelligence is a gift that should be used for good, and Ock responds with "A privilege". No, you specifically said not a privilege.

Spider-Man 3 - What to choose, what to choose... At the root of it, I'd have let Raimi use Vulture instead of Venom, but with what is there, I'd switch out the Venom/Sandman team-up scene for the cut version. It makes Marko more sympathetic and Brock more villainous.

What about you guys?

Lionsgate to expand into the gaming arena

Matter of time, they know how to franchise.

Plan a Disney/Sony/Fox crossover film

In the (incredibly unlikely) event that Fox, Sony, and Disney were to pull a Roger Rabbit and agree to at least one film where all their Marvel characters are able to interact...how would you go about making it? What storylines would you use, what characters, any scenes in particular you'd want to see? This is, of course, a pure fantasy experiment, so no suggestion is too crazy. Have at it!

And the most overused word in music is...

"Baby"

Every time I hear this word I think "couldn't you find one more original?" I know I'm being sensitive since it always struck me as a strange term of endearment for an adult. It's only recently that I realized how many years and genres of music it crosses.

SyFy developing Frank Miller's Ronin

Syfy Adapting Frank Miller's DC Comics Series 'Ronin'

Quote:

Syfy is joining the comic book craze.

The NBCUniversal-owned cable network is developing Frank Miller's DC Comic series Ronin and Oni Press' political space drama Letter 44, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

FollowingDarren Aronofsky's attempt to remake the samurai drama for the big screen, Syfy will produce DC's six-issue comic series Ronin as a potential miniseries. From Warner Horizon Television and DC Entertainment, Ronin was written and drawn by Miller (Sin City, 300). The comics, which were published every six weeks between 1983-84, centers on a legendary warrior -- the Ronin, a dishonored, masterless 13th century samurai -- who is mystically given a second chance to avenge his master's death. He finds himself suddenly reborn in a futuristic and corrupt 21st century New York where he must defeat ancient demon Agat, the reincarnation of his master's killer.

Syfy's takes place eight centuries after a Japanese Ronin samurai failed to protect his master from a demon. He awakens in a futuristic, nihilistic New York in the body of Billy, a medical experiment. Now Billy/Ronin is chasing the demon, which has reawakened. Both parties want control of a sword with magical properties and will stop at nothing to get it back.

A search is under way for a writer and the exact number of episodes in the Syfy miniseries has not yet been determined.

Meanwhile, the Ronin film adaptation has been lingering in development at New Line since 1998. Joby Harold and Chad St. John most recently signed on to pen the script with Gianni Nunnari on board to produce.

For Miller, this would mark the prolific and award-winning comics scribe's first title to be adapted for TV. His works have been turned into several feature films, including Sin City and its sequel, Daredeviland 300.

Ronin marks the latest DC Comics title to be adapted for TV. WGN America is developing Scalped ; The Flash, iZombie and Hourman are in the works at The CW, NBC is prepping Constantine , AMC is readying Preacher; and Fox's Batman prequel Gotham -- which tells the story of Commissioner Jim Gordon -- is considered a lock for a series order, while that network is also developing The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Iconic movie score in recent years

One thing that annoys me recently is the fact that there hasn't really been MUCH iconic movie score that has been produced in blockbusters recently, especially in the past five years of so.

Has there been a movie theme that audience can easily hymn and recall without much trouble? I find it hard to easily recall the main theme from a number of recent blockbusters, even for major films like Avatar, Avengers and etc. Has there been a recent trend away from creating movie soundtracks that is iconic?

I mean would people even recognise the theme from Avengers if it was suddenly played by a orchestra?

The commercial potential of a new Hulk movie

As Captain America: The Winter Soldier starts to wind down a bit, positioning itself for a $700 M finish, we've seen that the Avengers affect is very real. Iron Man and Captain America almost doubled their previous outings' respective totals, and even Thor: The Dark World, with it's tepid critical response and proximity to major year end tent pole Catching Fire, managed to exceed the original film by almost $200 M.

All of these gains (over a combined $1 Billion between the three films) makes me wonder about the sequel potential of The Incredible Hulk franchise. Despite two low performing films, The Hulk was considered a major stand out in the Avengers, and an audience favorite.

Is that enough though? Is the general audience as wary of a third Hulk movie as Marvel is of making one? Can Marvel make a cost effective Hulk movie, with a high standard of CGI, when the $220 M budgeted Avengers only had Hulk on screen for a total of 4 minutes? Is Hulk's extreme anti-hero/ raging monster routine, which makes him compelling on one level, a commercial detriment?

We have Shazam, Metal Men, 100 Bullets, Fables, JL Dark, The Sandman.

Which are the other 3 in your opinion?

Mine. Well it's kinda difficult cause the love for DC tells me that maybe a Hawkman/Hawkgirl movie, Dr. Fate, Aquaman, Cyborg. but I think the most viable one IMO is The Flash. we had since the last SDCC some Flash plans from Warner not even confirmed.

Then talking in a objetively way I think Cyborg, Flash and The Hawks or Aquaman movies.

Maya Lord

Roland Emmerich Targets 16th Century Adventure Tale Maya Lord

Source: Deadline , John Coe Robbins

April 28, 2014

White House Down director Roland Emmerich is set to produce and develop Maya Lord, a big screen adaptation of the book by John Coe Robbins. Published in 2011, the 16th century adventure is officially described as follows:

Gonzalo -shipwrecked in a violent storm in 1511, he finds himself cast away on an unknown shore in the New World. A fierce tribe enslaves him and the other Spaniards in his small party. With little hope for escape, this brilliant and pragmatic adventurer searches for a way to advance in a strange new culture. Ix Zazil -the spirited and independent daughter of a powerful chieftain, she finds herself surprisingly drawn to the strange foreigner who has been thrust into her life from another world. Jeronimo -lost in the shipwreck with Gonzalo, this uncompromising priest rejects Maya ways, holds fast to his beliefs and remains a slave. Like his fellow survivor, he is convinced he is the better man for his choice. Based on actual people and events, this exotic historical novel follows these driven characters as they chart conflicting courses through a tumultuous world unlike anything they could ever have imagined.

Emmerich will produce through his Centropolis Entertainment and will potentially direct as well, although his upcoming slate is a bit full. He's next set to direct the civil rights drama Stonewall before tackling a much-anticipate sequel (potentially sequels) to his 1996 sci-fi actioner Independence Day .

What if This Was the Cliffhanger Ending? What's Yours?

This is taking into account if the cliffhanger endings are real.

I know it won't be, but what if after all the carnage of Darkseid (I mean, who else?) a scared and anxious Bruno Manheim is running through the allyways away from a really big shadow. That squealy investigative 1960s paperboy voice shouts out: "MR MANHEIM!" Bruno, feeling relieved at company turns around. The silhouette is visible, the guy asks in the same voice. "I have a question." Bruno states, "Sorry, no time, got to go." The guy's voice changes, deeper and a zoom in on Bruno's eyes which flash red. "Actually, my question is for your friend." In the pupil of Bruno's eyes, a visible image of the Question is shown.

Given the Question's recent N52 ties to the Council of Eternity and his role in Trinity War, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that Question could be wanting to be the one who figure's out Darkseid's attack.

What are your cliffhanger endings?

Plot holes or inconsistencies in Episodes 4-6.

OK. I made this thread to point out & them possibly find logical answers to plot holes I've encountered through the movies & source books.

One plot hole I encountered was the story of Davin Felth (an Imperial Stormtrooper) stationed on Tatooine patrolling the desert searching for the droids R2-D2 & C-3PO & also the stolen data plans to the Death Star.

The story goes that he was born around the time when the Empire was founded & enlisted as an eighteen year old prior to the Battle Of Yavin. Upon further reading his backstory, he appears to have a more independent nature, unlike other Stormtroopers & such.

Well, the plotholes or rather inconsistencies I found regarding him were that all Stormtroopers were supposedly cloned from one source, namely Jango Fett & weren't "born" as he was from womb. Another reason is that since all Stormtroopers supposedly come from the same source (Jango Fett), they should all have the same "voice" as Fett or Temura Morrison (actor who portrayed Jango Fett in Episodes 2-3).

I've provided a link on his backstory through Wookiepedia where you can read further upon this Star Wars character & please feel free to add input or contribute other plotholes you might encounter here.

Just read this in the latest Sci-Fi Magazine article about DOFP. In the interveiw with Daniel Cudmore he talks about about a scene that was supposed to be in the film, but never made it into the film.

Quote:

"There was originally supposed to be a fight between him (Colossus) and Juggernaut, which I thought would be a perfect way to start off the character' hate for one another. The fight didn't end up happening."

I would have liked to see this. I wonder why they decided not to?

The Amazing Spider-Man: The Clone Saga

I think that after ASM3 will come Sinister Six and Venom. They want to create a shared Spider-Man universe so I think the Clone Saga would be the next logical step.

How they could pull this off?

Have the following characters actually be clones of Peter Parker:

Ben Riley: a straight up clone of Peter, dyes his hair blonde at the end and goes off in the Scarlet Spider costume as a new hero.

Miles Morales: a mix of Peter and Aaron Davis (the Prowler)'s DNA.

Jessica Drew: use the story like in the Ultimate Comics where she is Arachne, Clone of Peter.

You can also have Tarantula and Scorpion be minor villains as they were clones of Peter in the Ultimate comics.

Your Ideal Justice League Trilogy

So I'd love it if the White Martians were invading Earth for the first one, or the star-eyed thingy, but I think at least two of the films should highly involve Lex Luthor as the main villain. "Destroy Superman...and the Justice League."

I think to make things more exciting, the sequel to Justice League should have the Injustice Gang...or Legion of Doom. With each of the Justice Leaguer's own enemies...Lex Luthor, Bizarro (if they possibly can, if not, the Cyborg Superman), Joker, Sinestro, Cheetah

Darkseid should return in the 3rd film, which means he should have an appearance before within the DC Universe films.

The third should also have a battle perhaps, against the Justice Lords...or Crime Syndicate of America, would be a bonus twist if they were all played by the same actors, thus using split screen shots.

This would be humungous.

My New 52 Donna Troy Concept Art

"Είμαι Donna Τροία, η τελευταία Titan. Κόρη του εμού. Αποστολή μου είναι να επιστρέψουν οι Τιτάνες του Ολύμπου και στη δόξα. Χαλάζι Cronus."

I think it translates to, "I am Donna Troy, the last Titan. Daughter of Rhea. My mission is to return the Titans to Olympus and to glory. Hail Cronus." Or the translation website lied to me.

Donna Hinkle always felt a little different but never thought it was anything more than what other children felt. She was always taller than her classmates, even the boys. She was never concerned about being social, more concerned about her work and her photography and her family. She was adopted when she was younger by the Hinkles after bouncing from home to home for a while. So her feeling sort of different never seemed like much to her, just probably something every young person feels. Currently she is a 20 something college student trying to major in the Fine Art of Photography. She is sort of an over achiever. She also has a sort of crush on her teacher, Mr. Terry Long. but Then somehow (I haven't gotten the somehow details worked out yet. ) Donna found out why she felt different. A long time ago, before the Greek Gods like Zeus and Herra and War, there were the Titans. Ancient gods doomed by a prophecy that one day a child of Cronus and Rhea would usurp the throne and kill the Titans. The legend has it that Rhea concealed the birth of Zeus, but she also concealed another birth. That was the Birth of Donna Hinkle. She had a child with a mortal and was worried about her daughter, so she sent her into the future and hid her existence from everyone. (To make sure she doesn't become Wonder Woman's aunt or something this birth would have taken place after Zeus was born but before Zeus defeated the Titans.)

Donna discovers that she is half Titan God, like a Hercules or Thor type character, who has been living among the mortals for years. Along with her knowledge of her true origins being unlocked her powers become unlocked as well. Like Wonder Woman she is strong, fast, and an excellent fighter. When her powers are activated she sort of glows from the inside and that is where the starry universe effect comes from. I had been playing around with this idea but i am not 100% sold on it, but her stone looking wrist bands, belt, boots, and neck thing, could either help her control her powers, or boost them, because she is new to using them and either too much or too little could be where her powers are at right now. She becomes Troia, and maybe tries to (brainwashed) to bring the Titans back to life and to the throne of Olympus.

This could all grow from the current stories in Wonder Woman with the Death of Zeus, Diana finding out she is his daughter. The First Born, Apollo becoming king, the Death of War, and so on. The Returning of the Titans could fit right in there along with Donna Troy, AKA Troia, AKA Donna Hinkle. Along with the prophecy about the Death of Zeus and his throne and the First Born, there could be something about the Titans returning and Rhea's secret daughter.

I think maybe at first, because of the activation of her powers and knowledge, Donna could be in a sort of trance state but eventually is freed from it and now has her powers and remains Troia and has her civilian life as Donna Hinkle.

(Idea: She could have originally been put on Themiscara with the Amazons, but when Cronus heard about this she was moved. Only not before Cronus had a sleeper program of sorts implanted into her to ensure his return.)

The idea behind all this is that DC is rebooting things and don't seem to want to have characters that are just duplicates. Wally is returning but is different in a different costume. Kid Flash is different sort of, and there are other examples. So my thinking is this could be how they could return Donna Troy, or Troia, to the comics. In one of the older stories Donna finds out she is a Titan who was sent to Earth. They want her to return to the Titans, but because her son will become a demi-gold of destruction she gives her godhood up to be mortal. My thinking is why not keep her a Demi-God. She could be like Thor in Marvel, or Hercules in Marvel. She is the last Titan, the daughter of Rhea. Her life means that the Titans could eventually return, and she is a threat to Olympus as well.

She would become her own character but still have ties to Wonder Woman's. She sees Diana as her mentor, someone to emulate and to get training and advice from.

I gave her the Universe star look she had in the comics before she died, and her armor has what I think is Titan symbols I researched. I also wanted her to have a costume that covered her from neck to toe but still looked cool. For her face I used a Greek Actress.

Zack Snyder Directing Justice League

Quote:

Warner Bros. Details Plans for ‘Justice League’ Movie (Exclusive)

By Ben Fritz

8:26 PM ET

April 27, 2014

First came “Man of Steel.” Next up is “Batman vs. Superman.” And then, “Justice League.”

Confirming the studio’s plans for a movie based on its iconic super-team for the first time, Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman said the studio has set plans to make a “Justice League” movie.

Like “Man of Steel” and its follow-up, which starts production next month, “Justice League” will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in 2016’s “Man of Steel” sequel tentatively titled “Batman vs. Superman."

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” said Mr. Silverman. “’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”

A script is still in development and Warner has not set a release date, though the movie is unlikely to come out before 2018. Mr. Silverman would not comment on what other heroes might join Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in the movie. However the studio has recently been casting the role of Cyborg, a half-robotic hero who is expected to have a cameo in “Batman vs. Superman” and then appear in “Justice League.” Other DC heroes who have been in Justice League comic books include Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.

The plans for three superhero movies in relatively quick succession show how intent Warner is on catching up with rival Walt Disney Co.’s Marvel Studios in building a cinematic superhero universe after years lagging behind.

Although the “Dark Knight” trilogy was a hit, Warner’s other efforts such as “Green Lantern” and “Jonah Hex” have flopped. A “Justice League” movie with a young cast that was to be directed by George Miller of “Mad Max” fame nearly went into production in 2008 but was killed at the last minute.

Warner Bros. has several other movies in development unconnected to the Justice League that are based on DC superheroes and fantasy and crime titles from its Vertigo line of genre comics, said Mr. Silverman and Toby Emmerich, president of Warner’s New Line Cinema label. They include “Shazam,” “Metal Men,” “100 Bullets,” and “Fables.”

And while there are no plans yet for a “Justice League” spinoff featuring Ms. Gadot’s “Wonder Woman,” Warner executives said they are warm to the idea.

“That is our hope,” said Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing. “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”

Shadows of the Empire - Movie adaptation?

With he announcement that most of the past expanded universe is no longer canon, i think it's time to talk about the next big stories after the movies, which are the multimedia projects. The first one being Shadows of the Empire, which was set between Episode V and VI.

The story was quite popular with fans. So the question is, should it be once again canon? And if so, do you think it deserves a movie adaptation or a Game Reboot?

THe problem with a film is that the characters would need to be recast, which wouldn't suit very well and if viewed between the original films, would look kind of awkward. Not to mention that the general public that hasn't watched the original films would be kind of confused.

Or should Disney go ahead and call the original novel canon?

Why did the CGI claws suck so much in Origins?

I mean:

This movie was designed to be a blockbuster and thus had a very big budget. Why on hell did the CGI claws of Wolverine (especially in the mirror sequence at Hudson's house) suck so much? They look Roger Rabbit-esque.

The CGI claws in X1, X2 and X3 were great and impressing. They looked real.

I think they should have used prosthetics in Origins, since their CGI designers were terrible.

Why I want everything to revert

Not just Fantastic Four, or just Spider-Man, or just X-Men, but everything. I want them all to revert. A year ago, I was okay with Spider-Man and X-Men staying where they were and only wanted FF back with Marvel for Silver Surfer and other cosmic characters. I was perfectly fine with X-Men and Spider-Man existing in their own, harmless universes, and still am. But my position on whether that "harmless" part is true has evolved over the past couple months as I'm starting to see what Fox and Sony are trying to do.

In simple terms, in a worst case scenario, what Fox and Sony are doing right now could be detrimental to everything Marvel Studios has built and to the CBM genre itself. It's one thing to buckle down on a franchise a commit to releasing movies every couple years, it's another to try and stretch it completely thin while putting out mediocre products and having it effect movies MS and WB put out. Sony is trying to force villain movies out of the Spider-Man franchise, that FF reboot looks like a disaster waiting to happen, and now Fox is talking about putting out X-Men related TV shows. It's too much. I used to say that CMB/superhero fatigue was a myth, and I still believe that, but at a certain point, when there's 20 superhero shows on television and 15 superhero movies coming out a year, people will start lumping them all together. And out of those 30+ projects, there is no way that all of them will actually be good, and a couple bad missteps could hurt the entire genre.

Just look at TASM2. It's looking to be yet another lukewarmly received Spider-Man movie and is setting up to be the lowest grossing SM film so far, even after all the marketing Sony put into it. This kind of performance just gives naysayers more ammo to claim that SH films are repetitive and generic and prematurely write off other films of its kind in the future. That kind of stuff DOES eventually bleed into the mainstream, and with what Fox and Sony are trying to do right now, I really see it happening soon.

This isn't about wanting to see these character in the same universe as the MCU, it's genuinely concerning that Sony and Fox are trying to stretch these things out far beyond their natural limit to try and get a cash grab. If Marvel had the rights to all of it, they would not be stretching the properties so thin and milking them for all its worth. This whole bubble that is forming right now is really only heading in one direction in my eyes, and it's the implosion of the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises due to oversaturation. I just hope it doesn't affect the entire genre Batman and Robin style. :/

Are we still looking at a Batman/Superman movie with cameos, or is it JL?

I still feel the purpose of the casting for some of the superheroes will end up being small parts to show their existence and create the existence within their universe. When I see questions of "How will they juggle all of these characters?" it makes me wonder if I'm the only one seeing it this way. I would say it makes sense that some of the superheroes aren't even shown in costume yet. We just know these being with powers exist as Batman has been monitoring the phenomenon. Upon Superman being the first official superhero stepping out to the public eye, the two of them can bring together a team of people with abilities. Throughout the internet I've seen some people say "Don't call it Batman/Superman anymore, call it Justice League already" but I kind of think that's a jump to conclusions as much as any other idea at this point. If done correctly, it simply shows these characters exist and we won't need to retread as much origin wise.

What if they used Gene Khan?

Or Zhang Tong, Tem Borjigin or any of the other Mandarin aliases while simply dropping the Mandarin title.

I was re-reading Director of SHIELD/Haunted the other day and it seems to me that they can still totally do this story with very little modification.

His motivation in that story (bringing about an apocalypse to bring about a new better world) is still totally usable, Extremis has been introduced and there's no reason it can't be a plot point going forward. As far as I can see there's really nothing that Iron Man 3 did that prevents them from still actualizing the Mandarin character as portrayed in that story.

Cast the rest of the Big 7 that are going to be in Superman/Batman.

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg confirmed to be here, and according to many sites, there's some other announcements for the rest of the team.

So I ask this.

Which other members are going to be cast and who you think/want are the actors that will play them.

We sort of have that Momoa is Aquaman

I think he could also be Hawkman or a villain but the first choice is Aquaman.

If Flash is on this I would rather have maybe Cooper but I think Chris Pine or an unknown for this one.

I want John Stewart over Hal Jordan in this but I would be pleased with hal or john.

If is John Stewart I'd put Idris Elba but if is Hal I'd put either Jensen Ackless or Ryan Gosling.

What about Dwayne Johnson's Role

I think he could be MM if he plays a hero.

That leaves the big 7 as

Supes, Bats, Wondy, Flash, GL, Cyborg and Aquaman or MM.

*SPOILERS* final battle with Electro

I wonder if the same people who were crying about Superman killing Zod when he was trying to kill everybody on earth in MOS, will whine about Spider-Man killing Electro when he was just trying to kill Spider-Man. Any other comixology users mad at Comixology for taking away in app purchases through iTunes and Google Play?

Now people either have to purchase directly from the web site or download each individual publishers app (if they have one). Luckily Marvel, DC, and Image all have separate apps so I'm good for now. At least until Amazon decides to screw us over the rest of the way with those apps as well since they are comixology based as well.

Is Internet fandom creating a double standart to Modern Blockbuster sequels?

It seems like it, years ago, when Indiana Jones 2 and 3 came out their reception was relativelly mixed, most of it was in magazines, the same happened with the sequels to Back to the Future. However, many kids grew up with those movies, as they grew up, opinion on these films started to change and they are all relativelly well received today. Places like Rotten Tomatoes didn't exist back in the day, so the scores there are mostly from modern or updated reviews.

The Empire Strikes Back also became much better received today, and even films that are still not considered great like Ghostbusters II have a certain following and rarelly appear in "Worst Sequels" lists.

Now let's go to modern days, the kids that watched those films are now adults, are are themselves more critical, and the films they grew up with inspire them now.

And nowadays you have new franchises, the ones i want to discuss are Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean, you get The Matrix Reloaded and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, neither one of them was exactly hated by critics when they came out, their reception wasn't all that different from the one the Indiana Jones and Back to the Future sequels received.

The difference between then and now is internet, when you have articles on the net constantly listing both on "Worst Sequel" lists or trashing on them it's difficult for different opinions to be easily accepted. Imagine if internet was around for the critics of the 80s, i really doubt that these now classic films would have been so easily accepted, as you would have gotten the critics and adults of the time dictating what is good and what is bad.

It's become popular to talk about double standarts or critics being "wrong", but i honestly don't think they're the problem, i think that it's the general atitude in fandom. I mean, you can say "First film was great, but all the sequels sucked" enough times before it becomes "true", when you get down to it in Indiana Jones and Back to the Future, the first films of each are also usually considered the best, with the other ones being entertaining and enjoyable, not that different from Matrix and PotC, difference being that those don't have 30+ years of nostalgia, and those who grew up with those films will just get shut down when they come to the internet.

This is just something i've been thinking for a while, Matrix Reloaded and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest aren't masterpieces, but i think the fandom in the internet vastly underrates them as movies, and in my opinion, that may not be letting the more positive opinions grow.

Construction crew unearths fabled Atari burial site

http://ift.tt/1fkbWr1

The truth is here!

Quote:

According to urban legend, a massive stockpile of Atari gear — including truckloads of the notoriously awful game E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial — has laid buried in a New Mexico landfill for over thirty years. Today, that story is no longer a myth. Construction crews have uncovered copies of the Atari 2600 game at a landfill deep in the New Mexico desert, near the city of Alamogordo.

Back during the so-called video game crash of 1983, a struggling Atari was stuck with truckloads of the game and other unsold hardware. With little recourse and a crashing interest in video games in North America, the company decided to dump its excess merchandise into a landfill, according to reports at the time. The story was never confirmed, however, and it's carried on as a legendary tale from a time when video games were near worthless. It reportedly cost Atari millions to get the rights to produce a video game tie-in to the incredibly successful Steven Spielberg film, but the resulting E.T. game was a massive flop and it's considered one of the worst titles of all time.

Today's dig became a reality thanks to an upcoming documentary, produced by Microsoft's Xbox Entertainment Studios. The documentary, which will focus on the changing landscape of the video game industry, is expected to come out next year, and it is part of a broader push by Microsoft to produce original video content for Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners. Its biggest project is a live-action Halo TV series connected to Steven Spielberg.

Critic bias towards this franchise?

So ASM got rotten reviews from critics for being "unnessesary" in doing the origin story. Ok you have a point but I think it's unfair but I can understand.

Now lots of critics are bashing it acgually because it's also f***ing unnessesary? F*** off. These critics should bury their head in shame. It's just childish, it's actually disgusting to think that these people are paid to have well thought out opinions but clearly they have the a very flawed and biased mindset. This is a lesson that critics are no more of value than yourselves. Critics that don't like ASM2 are fine but because it's "unnessesary" because you suffer from the horrible disease that is fanboyism then you need to simply grow up. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 General Questions Thread (SPOILERS)

Hey guys.

I've noticed that a lot of you guys have been asking questions about the film, whether you've seen it or not, because you're confused about certain parts or a character's motives or whatever.

So if you have a question, post it here and somebody might answer it! :)

Florida mom goes on all day crack binge...then gives birth

A newborn baby is in critical condition today because his mother tried to out-Florida everyone else in her state. This depressing tale has everything: an all-day crack binge, a motel, giving birth in a bathroom, attempted murder charges, and an 11-month-old crawling around to witness it all.

I’ve emphasized the most Florida aspects of the story:

Chrystal Hassell, 37, told investigators she, her boyfriend and her 11-month-old child checked into a motel room at the Vacation Host Inn on Friday night in Ocala. She said that even though she was seven months pregnant, she started going into labor after smoking crack cocaine for an entire day.

Vincent Terry, Hassell’s boyfriend, left with the 11-month-old boy to run an errand, so Hassell delivered the baby alone in the bathtub. According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, Hassell even cut the umbilical cord with her teeth.

Why didn’t she call for help? Oh, she did. And… that just made things worse.

Hassell’s first call wasn’t to 911, though. It was to her boyfriend, who she told to hurry up and get back to the motel. But, as Terry sped to return, he was pulled over by Marion County deputies. He was wanted for attempted murder in Colorado.

The newborn was airlifted to a Gainesville hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The 11-month-old boy has been placed in foster care. Hassell is on suicide watch in jail, and faces child neglect charges. Also, she has a third child:

Hassell, 37, also has a 16-year-old daughter who was born addicted to drugs as a result of Hassell’s drug use during her pregnancy.

Welcome to Florida, kids. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

TASM2 vs SM2 Breakdown

*Spoilers follow* feel free to comment on this post, feedback on my posts is always appreciated. For the record I like both films. My internet timed out and I've had to re-write this all over again :cmad: .

Spider-Man

My personal favorite superhero and a really iconic character. Both suits were great adaptions but I like ASM2's suit better.

One of my main gripes with SM2 is the quips. We really only got "Here's your change!" and "I've an act for that!". Still, it's better than no quips right? In ASM2 you could really see the personality of Spider-Man, he's funny and witty!

For me ASM2 takes this part without question.

Peter Parker

More importantly is Peter Parker, after all Spider-Man is only half a story .Tobey Maguire gave a great performance as Spider-Man. He was at his acting best in Spider-Man 2 and the script made him likable, funny and he had this charm to him. Problem is, he's basically the same character as he was in high school. Garfield was witty and smart, funny and charming. Just as he was in his college years. They also showed Peter grow as a character really well from high school.

For me while both actors are great, I thought the script in TASM2 was better.

Villains

Spider-Man 2 had Doc Ock. While Raimi did change the character into a sympathetic one I thought he was fantastic. Really menacing and along with a great script visuals, he's the best thing in Spider-Man 2. Max Dillon had 2 cringey scenes. I thought they over done the goofiness with him talking to himself and that scene of him singing happy birthday was pretty cringy too. Spidey meeting him and the elevator scene was fine but honestly they went over the top in some scenes. Electro I did like, menacing and the visuals were fantastic, best looking Spidey foe IMO. I also felt more sorry for him as Electro. Dehann was great as Harry and as Goblin and the way Marc Webb tied the villains was great. They weren't fighting for attention, every villain has a purpose and having Oscorp as the web which ties all these villains and subplots let the film flow really well. Is there alot going on? Yes. Is it messy? NO! Rhino was mainly there to entertain. There is no depth to the character, they knew what he was, this little man in a big truck/suit and they embraced it!

While all the villains overall were fine and serviceable, with Harry Goblin being the best individually they don't hold a candle to Doc Ock, the best Marvel villain IMO. Though maybe I'm bias too as I think Doc Ock is the better character.

Love Interest

Emma Stone plays Gwen and Kirsten Dunst plays MJ. Gwen is smart, witty and I thought she had great chemistry with Garfield and I really loved her in the role, Emma brought her to life really well. Kirsten Dunst was OK at acting but the chemistry between her and Maguire felt lukeworm in some scenes. I liked how she was less whore-ish as it was really only Peter and John she was deciding between and she really loved Peter all along. Still, I never really found her that likable, she's the worst thing in Spider-Man 2

Score

Don't know what to say. I just liked Zimmer better but Elfman's is still great.

Action

Both film's had fantastic action and great visuals. They were really playful with the villains in SM2 and TASM2. The train fight remains my favorite individual fight but I felt the overall action in TASM2 was better.

The final action sequences in both had high emotional stakes too. Both certainly didn't have CGI fests.

In terms of action, it's a tie between TASM2 and SM2.

Theme/Story Arc

Both film's adapt well loved Spider-Man stories and have a theme. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2 the story arc is The Death Of Gwen Stacy and the theme is time.

Time links in well with this story arc. It was all about how we have little time and time with loved ones. Characters like Harry are dying, Norman is dead (apparently), Gwen's speech talks about how in our youth fools us into thinking we are immortal, Richard wishes he had more time with Peter etc. The first shot of the film is a watch and the final fight is in a clocktower, even Spider-Man trying to stop the gears was symbolic for time catching up with Peter and Gwen. It's a great theme for Spider-Man, he is a young person and Gwen's death was done well. It was brutal but sophisticated and the person she loves the most kills her.

Spider-Man 2 adapted Spider-Man No More! and it's theme was desires vs responsibility.

Really fitting too. We see the conflict of Peter wanting a normal life with MJ but he can't because of his responsibility as Spider-Man. What is interesting is at the end of the film, Doc Ock and Spider-Man both realize that they must give up their dreams for our responsibilities. Doc Ock wanted to build a better world but he realized he was destroying it and he saw through his ignorance.

Both films did an equally great job at this. While I personally like Gwen's death more and time is my favorite theme in literature both were done equally well. It was really inspiring Peter coming back into the suit in SM2. In TASM2 it was done well too, the hero watches Gwen's speech and he rises from grief and pain to fulfill his responsibilities as Spider-Man. I loved how it showed the hope Spider-Man inspires to people and the kid standing up to Rhino in the suit reminded me of when I was a young Spider-Obsessed boy, when I wore my Spider-Man costume I felt like I could take on the big bad world.

While Spider-Man 2 had the better villain, everything in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was done to the same extent or better.

*Feel free to agree or disagree with any points I made here and share your thoughts. Also I'd appreciate if you would comment on how well written it was . Thank You very much for taking time to read this post!:)*

Will Black Widow Appear?

Since it looks like Phase 3 is going to be

Ant Man

Cap 3

Doctor Strange

Thor 3

Hulk 2

Avengers: The Infinity Gauntlet

Black Widow should presumably be doing something during this time and since she and Daredevil have been so closely intertwined - starting as partners and then after Karen Page's death, lovers - it would feel awkward for her to not have more than just a small cameo. I mean, Scarlet Johansson is popular and making her part of Daredevil's supporting cast would easily gain viewers for that alone. Plus it's a good way to keep Widow in the MCU during this time.

For Season 1, I'd just have her be a sidekick who has her own agenda. Elektra would be the love interest early on but dies at the end of the season. During Season 2, Tasha and Matt trust each other enough to work alongside each other as equals while Matt is now dating Karen Page. Season 3 will start with Karen Page dying and Matt and Widow become an item.

It would be costly but Marvel is swimming in ungodly amounts of money right now and considering that BW presumably won't get her own film until Phase 4 and Feige has stated that he'd rather do Captain Marvel before Black Widow this is really the best direction to take the character.

Batman cursing

Obviously, Batman doesn´t curse in movies, tv shows and comics, but we all know it is mostly because of the kids.

Now, my question is: If Batman existed, do you think he would curse?

Instead of:

"Where is she?"

we would have something like...you know :yay:

Cyborg's look in Superman/Batman

What do you think cyborg would look like in BvS and then in JL?

Where's the talk of X-Factor?

If Fox is considering Gambit and Mystique films, then why not put them both in an X-Factor film as co-leads?

I mean, it's also a great opportunity to bring in Multiple Man, Rictor and Polaris and assuming they have the effects to pull it off, also put Strong Guy in. Valerie Cooper and Forge will both be present around the base with Forge as the team's mechanic and Val as the team's superior who's less than thrilled with how Mystique runs things.

Tonally, this will be far lighter than other films in the X-Men universe and would be more like Rush Hour with the meta awareness of Inglorous Basterds. Tons of running gags, one-liners and occasionally shifts in how the film presents itself with subtitles and framing to remind the audience that it doesn't take itself the least bit seriously.

The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can't even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy.

With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city...but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They've come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading.

"We can't let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet."

"What?! What are these monsters?!"

The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves.

At this point, who is more likely to steal the show?

With many movies, especially CBM's, there will sometimes be one performance that gets seperated from the rest and put on the pedestal.

Often times its the villain, most notably Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in TDK.

Sometimes, its the lead himself who is the most talked about element. In the eyes of many, the Iron Man films are solely defined by RDJ's Tony Stark. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was designed to be THE leading man of the X-Franchise, and that approach has been very successful...sadly, IMO.

Sometimes, however...there is a dark horse that no one saw coming. No one predicted just how popular Mark Ruffalo's Hulk would be when "The Avengers" came out. After all, not only was RDJ in it, but some fans were still upset that Ruffalo replaced Ed Norton as Bruce Banner.

There are a lot of iconic characters being represented in this film, all carrying the potential of a breakout performance. Which of the following do you see stealing the show in B vs S:

Henry Cavill's Superman

Ben Affleck's Batman

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor

Friday 13 is coming to tv as a series

Jason Voorhees is packing up his chainsaw and heading to television.

An hour-long drama based on the iconic horror franchise Friday the 13th is currently in development, our sister site Deadline reports. Though the new series will be set in present-day Crystal Lake — the setting of the original 1980 film — Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) are crafting a storyline that will show Jason in several different time periods.

“Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we’re confident will not only excite existing fans of Friday the 13th, but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake,” says Horror Inc. president Robert Barsamian, who will also produce.

The series, which is not yet attached to a network, will be produced by Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment. Sean S. Cunningham, who produced the original film, will executive-produce.

Great tribute to The Amazing Spider-Man #121.

Braveheart/Gladiator/T2/Matrix/Speed/TrueLies

These debates keep coming up in my life and I'm curious where people's preference come down between these various match ups in terms of quality and or viewing experience:

Braveheart vs Gladiator

T2 vs The Matrix

True Lies vs Speed

Pick one from each.

My preference for example being:

Braveheart

T2

Speed

Ray Fisher is CYBORG!

Ray Fisher to Play Cyborg In ‘Batman-Superman’

Quote:

After testing actors over the past couple weeks, Warner Bros. and D.C. have tapped theater actor Ray Fisher for the role of Cyborg in the untitled Batman-Superman pic.

Cyborg, while not a major part in the Batman-Superman feature, is a member of the Justice League and will become a much more significant role as Warner and D.C. develop more films related to the Justice League universe, sources confirm.

Fisher joins the Batman-Superman cast which includes Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot and Amy Adams with Zack Snyder directing.

Production is currently underway in Michigan.

Written by David S. Goyer, the screenplay for Batman-Superman is based on a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder.

Cavill, who plays Superman in the film, expressed a great deal of promise in Cyborg in the recent “Man of Steel” bonus feature, as well as the fictional research facility S.T.A.R. Labs, which appears in several DC Comics.

“I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity,” Cavill said of the Cyborg character.

S.T.A.R. Labs was also the workplace of Justice League characters Professor Hamilton and superhero Rampage, although it’s unclear whether they are involved in Batman-Superman.

Produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder, the untitled Batman-Superman feature opens May 6, 2016.

Disappearing posts

Hi,

Lately I've noticed some of my posts seem to be disappearing. To my knowledge they haven't contained anything offensive and usually if they do I get a message from a moderator so I thought maybe there's a technical problem?

I don't know if other users are having the same problem but it might be worth checking out. Maybe it's just my ipad doing something screwy before the messages get posted

TASM3 Plot and Opening Scene Speculation

Some TASM2 spoilers below...

Been thinking about this ever since getting confirmation of some of TASM2 questions.

So, in order to try to determine how TASM3 will start, I think we need to summarize where we are at the end of TASM2.

So, at this point Peter has just taken back up the mantle of Spiderman and took down Rhino. Likely TASM3 will happen months after this fight scene. I can't see them picking up right from that point.

Norman is dead, or at least assumed dead (there is speculation that his head is in deep freeze in chamber #3 - even though this wasn't in the European released film).

Harry is in Ravenscroft prison and it can be assumed that he doesn't yet control his turning into the Goblin ('It comes and it goes').

The Rhino is likely locked up in Ravencroft as well.

The Gentleman is at Oscorp ready to mastermind a mess of problems for our hero...

So, the real question is whether or not the Sinister Six will be in TASM3. This is something that I speculated on about a year ago, so I'm sticking to my belief. Since last year we've been given a ton of evidence to support that the Sinister Six is coming, and likely in TASM3.

So, if they are going to go with the Sinister Six they would need to use mainly characters that we've already been introduced to (unless they will tell this story over two movies, and not just one - though that is unlikely). So, who are we likely talking about:

- The Lizard (Curt Connors) is rotting away in a jail cell.

- Goblin Harry is an obvious choice.

- The Rhino could be the muscle and effectively take the place of the Sandman in a movie Sinister Six.

- Electro is a possibility since, as Jamie put it, 'electricity never truly goes away'.

Beyond these guys, we've been shown some hints:

- The Octopus tentacles indicates Doc Ock, or at least someone using his tentacles.

- The Vulture wings indicates the Vulture will be in there.

In addition, we need to speculate on who we've met and what part they can take on.

- We've seen Donald Menken, who looks so much like The Vulture I feel we must accept that possibility. Hey, someone will need to put those wings on.

- We've met Felicia, played by Felicity Jones. IMO she's a perfect fit for Black Cat, so this is likely to be seen.

- Dr. Kaftka wears glasses similar to Doc Ock's in TASM2, and it could make sense for him to be the field leader of sorts for an S6 line-up. It would also mean that I was right when I said that Electro was talking to "Doc Ock" when he said "You can't control it Doc". I know, it's a strech, but I'm sticking with it...

- Then we also have Alistaire Smythe, but it's hard to see him as anything other than the Ultimate Spider Slayer.

So, that's where we start off. So where to go?????

Alright, it seems very likely that Rhino and Gobbie would need to be broken out of prison. This seems like the perfect way to start the next flick. Heck, it would be action packed! If the Gentleman and/or Kaftka were going to do this, how is the question? Seems likely that they would use the equipment they have (and possibly other stuff that they've been developing) to do this. So that would give us:

Octopus and Vulture breaking out Rhino and Gobbie. Guess they could go stealth, like Black Cat instead, but action packed is normally better.

Now, would The Lizard come along for the ride? Would be an easy way to get Doc Connors back in the game and part of the Sinister Six.

That would put us at 4 or 5 members.

And if this is what happens then Harry, Aleskei, and likely Kaftka and Menken are accouted for. Possibly even Doc Connors.

I could also see a scene where The Gentleman or Kaftka state something about some piece of technology being needed and having someone taking care of it. That could segueway to an exciting scene with Spidey swinging around at night and sensing something near some company headquarters (it would be somewhere other than Oscorp I think). He investigates and meets the Black Cat. They go at it a bit, with her being all flirty and such, and then with the help of a little bad luck she escapes with whatever she stole.

This would make the Sinister Six team as follows:

1. Octopus - Kaftka (hey, their both doctors)

2. Vulture - I guess Menken could donn the wings

3. Rhino - Personally I'd like to see them get away from the mech and have him go through a cross species experiment

4. Gobbie - Just makes sense, I guess. Ultimately Peter will need to get some revenge on him.

5. Black Cat - Although she's just in it for the $. She'll turn on them and help Spidey in the end.

6. Doc Connors - This one is a maybe. Hey, he's in jail, so why not? He'd only do it for science, or because he's coerced. In the end I could see him use the serum, transform, take out a baddie and slink away.

The other options are Electro, Mysterio and Kraven.

- IMO, Electro's story has been told in TASM2, so let's move on.

- Mysterio is a fan favorite, so it would be very beneficial to Webb to include him. I could easily see him use gas to mess with Peter's mind, and maybe even make him see Gwen. What a great way to bring Emma back in TASM3.

- Kraven was in the original Sinister Six, but all he really did in that story was use some animals to try to stop Spidey. Since then though Kraven has become such a great character. Personally, I'd rather see him held out for a future movie focused on him as the main villain, with his brother in there as a secondary villain. Kraven's Last Stand, for TASM6, would be so amazing!!!!!

So, simply put, if they do go with Mysterio, as most fans want, who gets the boot from my list? My guess is either Black Cat or Curt Connors, and likely the latter. Guess they could just not use Harry-Goblin or Rhino, but I don't see that.

I believe if this is where they go in TASM3, we'll be in for an amazing film. Still much to flesh out, such as whether or not The Bugle will be in the story, how to introduce MJ, whether Eddie Brock is met, etc.

So, I'm guessing we have 2 years or so, so let's start the next debate...
