we have seen many comics to tv adaptations. i think the biggest one is obviously walking dead where amc is giving them the freedom to be a bit more graphic. and the ratings followed based on great storytelling and drama.
but most of the other shows were basically teen focused - like smallville, arrow and now flash.
but if you haven't see the trailers yet...check out the ones for daredevil that's coming to netflix april 10th.
imho, this is going to be a game changer. this show is going to represent a new way of bringing comics to life. it's a mini-series and there is more creative freedom and more importantly...TIME to tell a cohesive story with true character development. we can get the true insights for each character in this format and now that's it's not going to be on tv or cable...they can even go to more risky places.
getting an actor like vincent d'onofrio to commit to something like this is huge and shows just how much juice they have. i can see this leading to many more quality actors jumping in trying to get into something like this. and not just actors but writers and directors.
this is not a 2-2.5 hour movie where alot has to be crammed in. we can now get a true emotional investment for many characters at the same time.
