Just watched Green Lantern 2. My review.

It was pretty awesome!

Spoilers!

-

Hal Jordan x-pilot flashes back to his mom now dying. - Jump ahead several years he has now apparently been thrown out of the Corps and replaced by Guy Gardner.

Hal is working for a group of scavengers collecting some powerful orb weapon.

He is pursued by Katma Tui who also wants the Orb, to deliver to her apparent Korugarian antecedent, who we later find out is Sinestro.

Sinestro looking all stony, now some kind of powerful space emperor, all in yellow helm and throne, apparently he got that ring we saw at the end of part 1, and is collecting the other colors to rule the universe.

In pursuit of the orb are also the irritable space rodent Ch'p (whose been genetically engineered) and Medphyll looking huge.

The Corps now lead by Guy Gardner, show up and imprison them all, where they run into the familiar musclebound bruiser Kilowog (now more human than cgi) whose also been imprisoned, he wants to kill Katma due to her association with Sinestro, and the annihilation of his people. Poor Kilowog he really just wants to be part of a family again.

Katma reveals that she is no longer with her fellow Korugarian Sinestro, as he wants to use the ring-gem for power. She convinces them to work together to defeat him, leading to their escape.

-

Sinestro finds out about Katma's betrayal and loss of the orb, and sends his minions after them.

While Jordan's group track it down and confirm it contains another powerful ring-gem requiring tremendous will to wield.

A battle ensues, Kilowog fails, Jordan saves Katma, and Sinestro's minions leave with the orb on-board their giant ship.

All lost, Jordan convinces Guy Gardner and the Corps to trust him again, and to allie the Corps with his group and the scavengers, to all go after the orb and the immeasurable power it contains, before it falls into Sinestro's hands.

-

Guy and the Corps attack the ship while Jordan and his group infiltrate. Eventually it blows and crashes on Oa with everyone onboard, Medphyll sacrifices himself to shield the group. (But no worry he is after all a sentient plant, we eventually learn he sprouts again)

Jordan manages to grab the freed ring-gem, but it's power threatens to consume him, but Katma, Kilowog and Ch'p join hands and together dissipate it's power over them, and lock it in the orb again.

The orb and ring-gem is as promised delivered safely to Guy and to the Corps who lock it away on Oa (I'm sure Sinestro is not finished with it).

Jordan's group of now self named guardians have their records expunged by the Corps and are now free to roam the Galaxy.

Oh and Hal might be part alien, apparently his dad survived the plane crash, ...weird!

Overall Green Lantern 2. Guarding the Galaxy was a pretty great sequel, looks like DC has finally got it's act together.
