This is just a little survey I'd like to take out of curiosity after a few talks I had with some friends. It's not anything too deep so I'll keep it simple.
The question at hand is this: Would you rather win an Oscar for your excellent performance on a character, or have another character win an Oscar for an excellent performance of you?
All other factors are notwithstanding. For the first option, assume the right Hollywood connections for whatever role you wanna play aren't an issue and that you already possess the acting chops for the particular role you want (or you at least know you'll develop the acting chops for said role by the time your film starts shooting). For the second option, assume your biopic is based on either something significant you've accomplished or on something you've always wanted to accomplish and did so (otherwise you'd have no biopic). Which would you prefer and why?
I also ask you try your best to avoid loopholes (i.e. an actor winning an Oscar for a biopic on how you won your much older Oscar). I'm interested to hear your responses.
