Should Aquaman be the film with the sidekicks?

So judging by the actors cast in major roles I feel like Aquaman is the film would best be portrayed but more as soldiers than sidekicks. I feel like clearly Supernan being an origin and how young he is they won't bring in any sidekicks. Batman is going to be a film where all the Bat Family is grown up or dead. Wonder Woman is another origin and won't show sidekicks. Flash he's going to be too young to feature a sidekick that would only be a few years younger, especially with Flash the TV show featuring Wally this season. Green Lantern and Cyborg don't really do sidekicks and neither dies Shazam, his are more colleagues. So that leaves Aquaman. I do hope we see it as we haven't had films in a long time so it would be nice if DC did it to differentiate themselves from Marvel. He is the superhero with the next largest amount of sidekicks so it makes sense.
Personally, to fit in with the tone if the universe I wouldn't want the campy versions but ones that act more as soldiers. I'd like focus to be placed in Tula with Tempest, Aqualad and Lagoon Boy being under her control so that Aquamsn can deal with stuff on his own.
