Star Wars: Acolyte - Kylo Ren Fan Film

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share a short film we made over the last few months. We shot it on the new RED Raven camera to test it out. I did all the VFX over the last month to try and get it finished before Rogue One.

The President Trump Thread

Discussed with some moderators if it was time for an official President Trump thread - and seems to be okay. I guess my view would be I understand we have a pretty vocal anti Trump group here, but I think there are some willing to give a chance and see how it pans how. Discussion of policies and decision making, rather than just rants could be a nice change of pace ;) Let's see what he can do as President. I'm sure it won't be perfect, but I'm going to have some hope that maybe some positive things can be accomplished. A lot of the same people voted for him, previously voted President Obama, so maybe some good comes out of our new President. Just not ready to condemn the entire scope of Presidency from campaign shenanigans.

Where is the Queen (Oliver/Thea's) fortune?

I know he was tricked into losing control of his company. But, that should not have affected his personal fortune. Also, even when he was shown to be broke. Thea had money.

Was this ever mentioned?

Is Fox killing the X-Men

I hate how Fox is been as greedy on the X-Men movies, it suck that there no longer in the Marvel comic books and other Marvel stuff like video games. Many X-Men fans don't like how Fox is hurting the series to the ground. I think Fox is still pissed at George Lucas because he sold Star Wars to Disney which also owns Marvel too. Before X-Men Star Wars was Fox top movie franchises, I think it's the reason why Fox is getting Disney back.

But since then the X-Men movies begin to suck. the Last Stand was bad, the two Wolverines movies didn't do so great, and X-Men First Class and Apocalypse weren't that good. Right now Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackson and, Patrick Stewart aren't returning because they are doing a X-Men reboot.

Well the onlygood that comes out of it are the first two X-Men movies, DOFP and Deadpool. Well Logan is coming up next year, and the 3rd and last X-Men movies but let see how they do. If all of them failed will Fox force to sell them back to Marvel, already Fanatics Four reboot is a flop, and no sequel isn't going to be made ,and Michael B Jordan is going to be the villain in Marvel the Black Panther movie which is a big hurt. I'm a big fan of the X-Men comic books for years and I don't like how Fox is hurting it. Why can't Marvel file a lawsuit against Fox because they are used there character that Marvel have the right too. I hope they will sue Fox in all. So what do you say

FDA Approves Large-Scale Clinical Trial for Ecstasy

Quote:

Ecstasy isn’t only for ravers—a small series of clinical trials have demonstrated taking MDMA can be an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. On Tuesday, the Food and Drug Administration granted permission for large-scale, Phase 3 clinical trials for MDMA, which is the next step in the process to get it approved as a prescription drug.

While rolling on Molly might sound like fun and games to you, it changes lives. The New York Times spoke to C. J. Hardin, a veteran who served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, who suffered from severe PTSD that left him a divorced, suicidal alcoholic who cut himself off from the world. He tried psychotherapy, group therapy, and almost a dozen different psychiatric medications. “Nothing worked for me, so I put aside the idea that I could get better,” he said.

But in 2013, Hardin was lucky enough to join a small clinical trial studying MDMA as a PTSD treatment. “It changed my life. It allowed me to see my trauma without fear or hesitation and finally process things and move forward,” he told The New York Times.

This is a huge step for the community fighting to legalize the medical use of drugs like MDMA, LSD and marijuana. The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, a non-profit founded in 1985 to advocate for the medicinal benefits of these illicit substances, has funded six Phase 2 studies that treated 130 PTSD patients with the drug. It will also sponsor the Phase 3 clinical trials, which will consist of at least 230 patients.

A 2012 study conducted in Charleston treated veterans, victims of sexual assault, police officers and firefighters who had struggled with PTSD symptoms for an average of 17 years. None of the patients responded to traditional PTSD treatments. “After three doses of MDMA administered under a psychiatrist’s guidance, the patients reported a 56 percent decrease of severity of symptoms on average,” The New York Times reported.

When the study ended, two-thirds of participants didn’t even meet the criteria for having PTSD. “On average, subjects maintained statistically and clinically-significant gains in symptom relief, although two of these subjects did relapse,” the study said.

Doctors have legitimate concerns when it comes to using MDMA as a prescription drug—after all, there’s a high risk for abuse, and in an era of rampant prescription opioid addiction, that’s scary.

So how does MDMA treat PTSD? Throughout a 12-week PTSD study, patients went through extensive psychotherapy, which involved three 8-hour MDMA sessions. In these sessions, psychiatric nurse Ann Mithoefer and her husband, Dr. Mithoefer, guided each patient through his or her past traumas, playing soothing music. The Mithoefer’s terrier mix Flynn often kept patients company throughout their journey.

“The medicine allows them to look at things from a different place and reclassify them. Honestly, we don’t have to do much. Each person has an innate ability to heal. We just create the right conditions,” Ann Mithoefer said.

The New York Times reports there’s also been research which shows that MDMA triggers “the brain to release a flood of hormones and neurotransmitters that evoke feelings of trust, love and well-being, while also muting fear and negative emotional memories that can be overpowering in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder.”

There are currently two drugs on the market approved to treat PTSD, both of which barely worked better than the placebo in trials. Edward Thompson, a firefighter traumatized by the frequent gory tragedies he responded to at work turned to benzos, alcohol and opioids to escape the persistent state of utter panic he felt trapped in. After taking MDMA in a clinical trial, Thompson was much better able to manage his PTSD and kick his drug addiction. He explained, “It gave me my life back, but it wasn’t a party drug. It was a lot of work.”

A promising step forward for our nation’s veterans who suffer in silence.

This is very interesting. I've had some very deep and meaningful experiences on X and can totally see how they would be able to help people overcome traumas they are having a hard time processing. I touched on it in another thread but there are similar experiences for helping the mind with LSD and other psychoactive substances.

Anne Rice to bring her 'Vampire Chronicles' to tv

Surprised this wasn't here.
If done right this could be quite excellent. Hopeful!

http://ift.tt/2fIjiWt
Quote:

Like many of her fans, best-selling author Anne Rice would like to see her most famous creations on television. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but in a Facebook post yesterday, the creator of The Vampire Chronicles said that she has regained theatrical rights to the seminal series of novels that single-handledly redefined the vampire genre in the 1970s and 80s, and is now beginning work on a proposed television series adaptation.

“The theatrical rights to the Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear! I could not be more excited about this! — A television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe,” Rice said. Rice says she’ll be developing a script for a pilot alongside her son, novelist and columnist Christopher Rice. The pair will also be creating “a detailed outline” for an ongoing show that would, she says, tell the story laid out over the novel series’ 12-installments “faithfully”.

The Vampire Chronicles began with 1976’s “Interview With The Vampire,” which introduced readers to Louis, a French colonial aristocrat in 18th century New Orleans turned into an undead bloodsucker by the charismatic and dangerous Lestat. The book’s sequel, 1985’s The Vampire Lestat, made the titular character the main protagonist and subsequent books have been largely centered on his further adventures, which include exploring the origins of vampires, an encounter with Satan, and in the next installment, due out November 29, a trip to Atlantis.

Theatrical rights were held for years by Warner Bros, which tried twice to launch the novels as a film franchise. The first, 1994’s Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles starred Brad Pitt as Louis and Tom Cruise as Lestat, alongside Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and Kirsten Dunst. The film was a solid hit, earning $223 million off a $60 million budget, but neither Cruise nor Pitt opted for a sequel. A second film, Queen of the Damned, based on the third novel in the series, was released in 2002. This time starring Stuart Townsend as Lestat and R&B singer Aaliyah in her final film role, the film flopped, taking in just $45 million from a much smaller $35 million budget.

Attempts to revisit the series on film have since then been stillborn. In 2012, Imagine Entertainment began early development of a film based on the fourth novel in the series, Tale Of The Body Thief, but the project was canned less than a year later due to creative differences. Universal acquired rights to the series in 2014 with an interest in bringing Body Thief to theaters, but ultimately didn’t move forward.

The experience of trying to adapt her novels for film seems to have convinced Rice to stay away from the big screen. “As many of you know, Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment had optioned the series to develop motion pictures from it, and though we had the pleasure of working with many fine people in connection with this plan, it did not work out. It is, more than ever, abundantly clear that television is where the vampires belong,” she said on Facebook.

Fans reaching for bottles of champagne should note however that the proposed television series is still very much in the early, early, early stages. Rice says she’ll be talking to potential producers once she and Christopher Rice have completed the pilot script and series bible.

What would you change?

Ok so the movie has been out for a few weeks now. At this point we've all had time to vent and digest the events shown.

While this was another solid film from Marvel we all have 1 or 2 things we'd like to change to make it something more. What are yours?

For me it was the timeline. Jan 2016 to Nov 2017 they have way to much crammed in. I think they could keep the plot and just setup the movie to begin around the end of Avengers 1 say fall 2012. This would allow for the site of Avengers Tower and the new sign and a timeline like this:

Nov '12 - Nov '13 accident & recovery, Dec '13 - March '14 petition the board, look for alternatives, and find out about Kamar-Taj. April '14 find Kamar Taj. May '14 to May '17 study at Kamar Taj. Then May '17 to Nov 17 to develop before Ragnarok.

That gives him a year of recovery from surgeries, 3 months of attempts to return to work, a month of searching for Kamar-Taj, then 3 years of study before taking on Kaecilius at the end.

The only other thing I would change and this one is a pretty major departure I wouldn't have killed off The Ancient One. Of the remaining Masters we've seen none seem prepared to take her place. It also gives Dr Strange a mentor because at the end of the movie he is not at Sorcerer Supreme Level yet.

What do you guys think?

Use of Kryptonite during Myriad?

I was watching the S2 EP2 the other night, and have just recently watched the last 2 episodes of S1 which included Myriad.

In S2 EP2, Jonn and Superman argue about the use of Kryptonite after Supergirl is injured by Metallo. In that argument, Superman says "If you had gotten rid of it (Kryptonite) when I told you too..." and Jonn cuts across him and says "We would've been helpless when Non and Astra launched Myriad, or have you forgotten that it was a force that even the Man of Steel couldn't defeat?"

My question is, when did the DEO use Kryptonite to defeat Myriad? The only time that I can see Kryptonite being used during Myriad is at the start when Lucy is shooting at Supergirl, and by Alex when she is having the fight with Supergirl. From what I can see, it was never used by the DEO to defeat Myriad. Did I miss something?

4 night crossover - have to watch all 4?

Hey guys,

I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere online. I was wondering if I have to watch all 4 episodes of the 4 night crossover, or whether I can just watch Supergirl and be safe that I won't lose the flow of the story, in other words, will Supergirl's appearance on The Flash for example be a pivotal point in the future story of Supergirl?

Just so you know, I am planning on watching all 4 nights, but just want to know whether I should program them to record (in case I forget about The Flash episode etc) or not. As you can probably see, I just watch Supergirl out of the 4.

Casey Affleck and Allegations of Sexual Harrasment Surfaces

Casey Affleck’s Dark Secret: The Disturbing Allegations Against the Oscar Hopeful
Quote:

The producer and cinematographer of his mockumentary ‘I’m Still Here’ accused the ‘Manchester by the Sea’ star of a long cycle of sexual harassment and verbal abuse.
Amy Zimmerman

11.23.16 3:00 PM ET

...

Casey Affleck has spent years teetering on the precipice of movie stardom. Recognizable last name aside, Affleck’s acting chops appear to not only rival—but surpass—those of his more famous brother. He was lauded for his twitchy turn in Gone Baby Gone and earned an Academy Award nomination for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

But the younger Affleck was undermined by his own passion project.

Coming off a hot streak of acting roles, Affleck made the unexpected decision to refocus his energy on an experimental documentary about his brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix. That germ of an idea eventually blossomed into an infamous project, 2010’s I’m Still Here. In this documentary turned mockumentary turned cautionary tale, Affleck chronicled Phoenix’s fake evolution from leading man to aspiring rapper, complete with notorious TV interviews and the general appearance of personal and professional implosion. Critics’ reactions to the film ranged from apathy to confusion to anger; one Slate writer declared that “The worst thing about I’m Still Here is the fact that it exists.” Even Ben Affleck admitted that his brother may have made a mistake with that one, noting, “I thought it was a really smart, creative thing that nobody else had thought of. But he did it at the expense of his acting career.”

It’s hard to paint the good-looking, headstrong brother of one of the world’s biggest movie stars as a Hollywood underdog. And yet, with Casey emerging as a frontrunner for the Best Actor Oscar for his work in Manchester by the Sea, the 41-year-old’s biography has been reworked to fit this winning narrative. In the film, Affleck plays a man whose life has been upended by a tragic event. It’s the sort of dark, emotionally exhausting performance that finds actors showered in awards and accolades.

Affleck’s turn has already garnered rave reviews, as well as magazine profiles that are usually reserved for Oscar favorites. A few of these stories—like October’s Variety cover story on Affleck—feature an aberrant footnote. Nearly 2,000 words into the profile, there’s a brief mention of sexual harassment. Asked to comment on two sexual-harassment suits (here and here) that were brought against him by women who worked on I’m Still Here, Affleck responds, “People say whatever they want. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how you respond... I guess people think if you’re well-known, it’s perfectly fine to say anything you want. I don’t know why that is. But it shouldn’t be, because everybody has families and lives.” The Daily Beast reached out to Affleck’s representative for additional comment to no avail.

Of course, Affleck’s family-man mumbo jumbo doesn’t really do justice to the severity of his allegations.

In December 2008, Amanda White agreed to serve as a producer on an untitled documentary headed by Affleck and Flemmy Productions, which ultimately became I’m Still Here. She had a decade-long history of working with Affleck. Over the course of filming, White alleged in the complaint that she was repeatedly harassed. On one occasion, she claimed that Affleck ordered a crew member to take off his pants and show White his penis—even after she vehemently objected. She claimed that Affleck repeatedly referred to women as “cows,” and recounted his sexual exploits with reckless abandon. In her complaint, White recalled Affleck asking her “Isn’t it about time you get pregnant?” once he learned her age, and suggesting that she and a male crew member reproduce.

White’s accusations go on, ranging from incredibly unprofessional behavior to actual physical intimidation. She described an instance where she was prevented from returning to her bedroom during shooting, because Affleck and Phoenix had locked themselves in her room with two women where they had sex with them (Affleck was married with two children to Phoenix’s sister, Summer, at the time—though the couple recently split). She also alleged that Affleck attempted to manipulate her into sharing a hotel room with him. When she resisted, White claimed, he grabbed her threateningly and attempted to scare her into submission. Affleck then allegedly proceeded to send White abusive text messages, calling her “profane names” for refusing to stay with him. White filed a $2 million lawsuit against Affleck in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 23, 2010.

As part of her producer duties, White was also asked to renegotiate an agreement with Magdalena Gorka, the film’s director of photography. Gorka had previously left the project due to an alleged similar pattern of harassment. In her complaint, Gorka described her treatment at the hands of Casey Affleck as “the most traumatizing of her career.”

Almost immediately after beginning work on the project, the gross comments allegedly began. Gorka claimed Affleck and other members of the production team openly talked about engaging in sexual activities with her, and jokingly suggested that she have sex with the camera assistant, a good friend of Affleck’s.

On the assumption that Affleck’s behavior wouldn’t—or couldn’t—get worse, Gorka said she stuck with the project, and traveled with other crew members to New York for shooting in mid-December 2008. At the time, Gorka was the only woman actively working on the film. In lieu of paying for a hotel, she said Affleck and Phoenix decided to have the crew stay overnight at their apartment. After a long shoot, she claimed Phoenix offered to sleep in the living room and give Gorka his private bedroom.

According to Gorka’s complaint, she awoke in the middle of the night to find Affleck lying in bed next to her. She alleges that the actor was “curled up next to her in the bed wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He had his arm around her, was caressing her back, his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol.” Unaware of how long Affleck had been there or whether or not he had touched her while she slept, Gorka said she was “shocked and repulsed.” When she ordered Affleck out of bed, he allegedly responded, “Why?” to which she replied, “Because you are married and you are my boss.” Affleck then allegedly asked if she was “sure,” and when Gorka remained resolute, she claimed Affleck “left and slammed the door in anger.” Gorka then said that she flew back to New York, informed her agent of Affleck’s sexual advances, and quit the project.

When Amanda White contacted Gorka in January 2009, the cinematographer decided to give the film another shot. She said she had been unsuccessfully looking for work in the weeks since walking out on Affleck, and believed that having another woman on set would foster a safer working environment, and prevent further sexual harassment. If true, the presence of two women was hardly a deterrent.

Over the next few months, Gorka alleged that she was subjected to “a nearly daily barrage of sexual comments, innuendo, and unwelcome advances by crew members, within the presence and with the active encouragement of Affleck.” In addition to being berated and verbally attacked by the director, she claimed that she was constantly criticized for “refusing to be submissive” in response to his disrespectful comments and undermining rants. After months of work, Gorka once again resigned from the project due to alleged harassment and abuse. In what Gorka perceives as clear retaliation, Affleck refused to honor the terms of her employment agreement, which included a “Director of Photography” credit on the film. According to her complaint, Gorka continues to suffer from “humiliation, embarrassment, and emotional distress as a direct result of the harassment and abuse she endured during production.” Gorka filed a $2.25 million lawsuit against Affleck in L.A. Superior Court one week after White.

Amanda White also claimed that Affleck retaliated against her complaints. After White objected to Affleck’s behavior, she said he failed to pay her agreed upon producer’s fee. According to White, he also failed to pay her a “living wage” while she was working on the mockumentary. At the time of her complaint filing, White maintained that she had not been paid for any of the work she did on the film—a project she said she toiled on for over three months.

Overall, these complaints paint a decidedly different picture of Casey Affleck, leading man. In addition to allegedly harassing the women he employed, Affleck is said to have actively enjoyed putting them in uncomfortable positions, refusing to step in as the working environment on the project became increasingly hostile. In the words of White’s thorough and deeply damning complaint, “Affleck encouraged and participated in the harassment of Plaintiff and Gorka for his own twisted gratification.”

Furthermore, both women insist that Affleck’s treatment only worsened when and if they objected—a campaign of retaliation and verbal abuse that ultimately culminated in his refusal to honor their contracts. When his former employees first sued, Affleck vehemently denied their allegations, going so far as threatening to countersue. However, Affleck eventually agreed to mediation, during which a settlement was reached. While no details of any financial settlement were released to the public, it was reported that both women would receive due credit for their work on Affleck’s passion project.

As glowing writeups of Manchester by the Sea continue to roll in, Casey Affleck’s allegations merit more than an asterisk. Coverage of these types of cases often seems to operate according to an invisible scale. At first, unsavory allegations are cast aside in the service of palatable profiles. We subscribe to easy narratives; reporters don’t want to irritate stars with unpleasant questions, and fans don’t want to complicate their adoration with dark details. At a certain point, there is no longer an easy way out. The balance of public opinion shifts toward guilt, or, at the very least, suspicion. That’s why, after years of preserving Bill Cosby’s Teflon reputation, journalists suddenly stopped writing off the dozens of allegations that had been brought against the comedian. It’s why Nate Parker’s controversial past—which, although underreported, had never been a secret—suddenly became headline news in the weeks leading up to the release of The Birth of a Nation.

The Parker parallel is an important one. Of course, Parker was accused of a different, more serious crime—raping a female college student. Parker was acquitted, while Affleck settled. Then there’s the fact that Nate Parker is a black man. Like Affleck, the actor and director had been fast-tracked for critical acclaim and stardom. Considering the fact that Parker’s career has taken a fatal hit, we have to ask why Affleck’s history continues to be hidden paragraphs deep, or swept under the rug entirely. We can’t re-try either of these cases; given the facts that we have, journalists and filmgoers can reach their own conclusions of guilt or innocence. But readers should be given this opportunity. There’s no reason why the details of White and Gorka’s suits—which are available online here and here—shouldn’t be added as a crucial caveat in fawning profiles and glowing reviews. These types of allegations haven’t always acted as insurmountable obstacles to continued Hollywood success. Audiences have historically stood by men who have been accused of harassment, sexual assault, and abuse. But by selectively choosing which stars to put through the wringer, the media becomes complicit in this cycle of easy forgiveness and celebrity-related amnesia.

It seems a thread is in order for the new incoming President. What a stunning surprise of an election! Though nearly everyone here that's vocal on Trump is against him, I think there is plenty of room for hope. What kind of positive changes do you think are possible? What are your major concerns against our new President Trump?

India's Prime Minister Plans for Cashless Society

Quote:

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has an economic firestorm on his hands following his decision to ban the 500 and 1,000 rupee notes. In his monthly address on Sunday, Modi took his ambitions further with a call for a cashless society.

According to a translation by Reuters, Modi said, “I want to tell my small merchant brothers and sisters, this is the chance for you to enter the digital world.”

The ban has removed 80 percent of the country’s currency from circulation and brought commerce to a virtual standstill. But rather than backing up, it appears that Modi is doubling down. “We can gradually move from a less-cash society to a cashless society,” he told listeners.

The initial decision to ban the two notes is part of an effort to cripple a robust black market economy. Modi said that counterfeiting was rampant and claimed that the ban would aid in the fight against tax-avoidance, bribery and the funding of terrorism.

He admitted that “a 100 percent cashless society is not possible,” right now, but emphasized that he wants to set the wheels in motion.

Credit Suisse estimates that 90 percent of transactions in India are conducted in cash. Not only would a move towards a cashless society be a tough logistical hurdle but a cultural one as well. There isn’t really a strong install base for digital payment methods in India and people aren’t familiar with how to use them. Modi urged younger people who understand technology to teach the less-savvy.

While it seems likely that a move towards a cashless society would be an extremely long-term project, Modi has demonstrated his willingness to make bold decisions with immediately negative consequences. Even if dramatic measures are taken, digital payments bring a host of problems of their own—security breaches, privacy concerns and virtual black markets to name a few.

Interesting, I remember one of the campaign promises that helped get him elected was for all homes to have a toilet so people stop doing their business in the streets. This is quite the jump.

Ghost Rider Spin-off Soundtrack

I'm personally in favor of Ghost Rider doing for heavy metal what Luke Cage did for East Coast hip-hop. Assuming of course that Ghost Rider does get his own show and that it's on Netflix since a lot of these songs are too edgy for TV - even the ones which don't have profanity - simply due to satanic or violent lyrics which will be too much for ABC. These songs really define what Ghost Rider is about to me.

My suggestions for the soundtrack

White Zombie - Creature of the Wheel
Danzig - Devil's Plaything
Children of Bodom - Ghost Riders in the Sky
Behemoth - Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer
Rammstein - Fruer Frei
Emperor - With Strength I Burn
Mayhem - Cursed In Eternity
Anaal Nathrakh - More of Fire Than Blood
Zardonic - Raise Hell
Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today
Lamb of God - Remorse Is For The Dead
Deftones - Engine Number 9
Slayer - Born of Fire
Ministry - Jesus Built My Hodrod
Machine Head - I Am Hell
Gojira - Liquid Fire
Pig Destroyer - Book Burner
Strapping Young Lad - Consequences
Akercocke - Summon The Antichrist
The Red Chord - Lay The Tarp
Testament - Henchmen Ride
Megadeth - High Speed Dirt
AxCx - I Lit Your Baby On Fire
Dimmu Borgir - Spellbound (By The Devil)
Converge - Pheonix In Flames
Fear Factory - Slave Labor
Venom - Sons of Satan
Soilwork - Generation Speedkill
Cannibal Corpse - Sentenced To Burn
Deicide - Homage for Satan
Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem
The Haunted - Soul Fracture
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Susperia - Devil May Care
Darkthrone - To Walk The Infernal Fields
Cobalt - Arsonry
Arch Enemy - Burning Angel
Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil
Chimaira - The Age Of Hell
Melechesh - Sacred Geometry
Rage Against The Machine - Sleep now In The Fire
Rotting Christ - In Nomine Dei Nostri
Mastodon - March of the Fire Ants
Marduk - Baptism By Fire
Unearth - The Devil Has Risen
ICS Vortex - The Blackmobile
Type O Negative - Blood and Fire
Morbid Angel - Bleed For The Devil
Opeth - Demon of the Fall
Marilyn Manson - Burning Flag
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Metallica - Jump In The Fire

Comparing the Original Spider-Man Trilogy to the Original X-Men Trilogy

I thought it would be fun to compare the original X-Men trilogy with the original X-Men trilogy, both on an individual and overall level:

1. Which did you prefer, the first X-Men film or the first Spider-Man film?

2. Which did you prefer, X-2 or Spider-Man 2?

3. Which did you prefer, X-Men the Last Stand or Spider-Man 3?

4. Finally, what is the better trilogy?

MCU Head-Canon and/or fan theories

Anyone want to talk Head-Canon? Y'all can delve into other Marvel movies. But I'm gonna stick with the MCU.

If needed: Urban Dictionary definition of head-canon :P
Used by followers of various media of entertainment, such as television shows, movies, books, etc. to note a particular belief which has not been used in the universe of whatever program or story they follow, but seems to make sense to that particular individual, and as such is adopted as a sort of "personal canon". Headcanon may be upgraded to canon if it is incorporated into the program or story's universe.
The Incredible Hulk
The majority of the movie takes place long before Iron Man (2008), I'd say... between 2000 and 2002. Thus the disparity in Bruce's appearance in TIH (age ~35) and The Avengers (age ~45).

Thor
Each of the 9 realms refers to a habitable planet with sentient humanoid life in 9 different galaxies. "Midgard" being synonymous with "Milky Way" as well as "Earth" for ease of reference. The bifrost is a pre-established "bridge" or teleportation device that allows for intergalactic travel. Essentially this explains why the infinity stones (6 universal singularities created at the big bang) are all centralized to the characters in these films. Yggdrasil may also have some connection to the infinity stones.

Odin chose to put the Tesseract on Midgard because it had the least intelligent/corruptible life on it in (at the time) and it was relatively safe there to begin with. Its existence on earth spurred funding for Nazi Germany to seek it out and fund Erskine's work (in other words the catalyst for the entire MCU).

The Avengers
Coulson did die on the helicarrier. Agents of SHIELD is a "Jacobs Ladder" dream-like moment (as stated "jokingly" by Whedon) leading up to his death. The majority of Coulson's dream involves his obsession with heroes/desire to put a team of heroes together, his own paranoia about Hydra having taken over SHIELD, and random memories and concepts his brain put together (i.e. Sif) eventually culminating in the paranormal (Ghost Rider) as he gets closer to death. Granted, he does have remarkable foresight for a dead guy.

Iron Man 3
Killian was naive and figured "The Mandarin" was a myth/ghost story. He piggybacked off that name. Much to the chagrin of the real Mandarin (as seen in the one-shot).

The "brain slot" he mentioned while discussing Extremis was the same that allowed Strucker to enhance the Maximoff's brains/DNA using the mind stone.

Age of Ultron
Natasha was primarily using her innate talents in her "romance" with Banner as an asset to the team's overall success (similarly to how she did in IM2 with Tony). In other words, whether she was interested in him or not, she was just being a team player and was never serious about it.

Banner says "Ultron was just a myth." But the original idea came from Hank Pym earlier on in Pym's career. That's why these two world-renowned scientists are both aware of the concept.

Ant-Man
"The Quantum Realm" is one of the infinite dimensions discussed in Doctor Strange.

I think I have more that I can't think of right now. I'll add them as I think of them. I'd like to hear others if anyone's got em.

Knightmare - Batman Fan Film

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are having a nice Thanksgiving weekend. I wanted to share a link to a sequel for a fan film I posted here a few years ago that my friends and I created.

This new film is titled KNIGHTMARE and is about the Gotham universe. Here's a brief synopsis: "On the Eve of Thanksgiving, Batman and the Gotham Police tirelessly search for a missing Nightwing while attempting to track the infamous Holiday Killer and a new adversary who calls himself The Scarecrow."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxp1ZMyCcDY

We didn't have much of a budget to work with, but I'm proud of everyone for the hard work and dedication they put into bringing this story to life. We'd certainly love for any Batman/comic fan to check it out!

Thank you for your time!

Logan Box Office Prediction Thread

How much will Logan gross worldwide? I think it will make $300-$400 million if it's not well-received and $500-$600 million if it's very well received. I'm going with somewhere in the $500 million range based on the teaser trailer.

According the Wikipedia the budget is $127 million, so I think with anything over about $340 million worldwide and Fox should start to see profit from the theatrical gross alone.

For a frame of reference, Origins grossed $373 million worldwide and The Wolverine made $414 million.

Winner Takes it All....

It comes down to this. Any studio, Any Genre Film, Any set of characters, what is your favourite CBM of all time ?

Mine, above all, for many personal, deep rooted reasons, Superman (1978).

Winner Takes it All....

The "What movie was that?" Thread

Ever see a movie years ago but can't remember what it was? That's what this thread is about. And I'll start with a few movies that I've seen many years ago, but do not know anything else about them.

Movie 1: Gangster Film

I saw this movie probably in the late 90's/early 2000's when I was young. It was on television so I know it was probably somewhat old, but it looked like a 90's movie.

This film opens up with a bunch of people celebrating a man's birthday. They're talking, everyone looks happy, and the guy blows out the candles on his cake. At some point, these gangsters bring him to a playground and kill him (with guns, I think) and he dies on the merry-go-round.

I literally remember nothing else about the film. Does anyone recall what movie this is?

Movie 2: Horror Film

There is a film that opens up with a man doing laps in an indoor swimming pool. After going back a few points, he goes underwater and suddenly his leg is handcuffed to the ladder. He is stuck underwater and drowns. I was so frightened that I turned it off and never finished it, but a decade later and I keep wondering what this movie is?

This was easily a 70's-80's film.

Movie 3: Horror/Sci-Fi film

This is a film about a man who appears to be some sort of beast, and he does not die. He's lived for centuries (I think) and now finds himself in modern day. He makes friends with an attractive girl (I remember her being a blonde, but that could be false memory). There is a scene where she mentions she sleeps with him and she's wearing lingerie. He gets tired of living and at the end of the film, he finds a way to die and she watches with a group of people.

This looked like it could have been a late 80's/90's movie.

==================

If you are familiar with the movies I mentioned above, please let me know! And ask about movies that you've seen that you can't remember but want to know about.

Terrence Malick's WWII drama 'Radegund'

The Film Stage

Quote:

The film will debut in 2018, which is fairly in line with Malick’s standards — and even a bit early compared to some of his production timetables.

His drama depicts the life of Austria’s Franz Jägerstätter (August Diehl), a conscientious objector during World War II who was put to death at the age of 36 for undermining military actions. Also starring Valerie Pachner and Ulrich Matthes, there’s been rumors that Bruno Ganz, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Jürgen Prochnow are part of the ensemble, but those have yet to be confirmed.

Pro/Rel in MLS: How it could work.

My concept:

First, MLS grows to a 26 club MLS First Division. Afterwards, MLS opens up opportunities to enter the MLS Second Division (MLS-2).

Any club can apply, but in order to enter MLS-2, clubs must meet certain “Initial Entrance” (IE) criteria:

Stadium size (18k-22k)
Attendance (70% minimum)
Expansion Fee Payment of $20M

Expansion opportunities opens every 4 years, after the World Cup. The first expansion will bring in 8 clubs meeting IE criteria. Second expansion and each expansion thereafter will bring in a maximum of 6 clubs. MLS-2 caps at 26 clubs.

With the MLS crest, name, and brand behind them, MLS-2 clubs should experience increases in revenue and profitability. New MLS-2 clubs remain in the second division for a two-year probationary period. During this time, these clubs, regardless of success on the pitch, are ineligible for promotion.

After probation is complete, MLS-2 clubs will become eligible for promotion into the First Division provided that MLS First Division Fitness (FDF) standards are met. FDF standards include:

MLS Profitability Standard
Robust Commercial and Marketing Development
Sponsorship, including Stadium Sponsorship
Local TV Contract
Creation of a Reserve Team
Complete Academy system (u-13, u-16, u-18, u-20)
MLS Standard Front Office, Technical, and Medical staffs

Promotion/Relegation:

MLS relegates its bottom 2 clubs each year to MLS-2 and promotes two MLS-2 clubs provided the MLS-2 clubs are eligible for promotion.
Relegated clubs are immediately eligible for promotion the following season.
The two clubs promoted from MLS-2 will be the club with the best record and a playoff winner.
The top four clubs in MLS-2 will compete in an annual playoff.
If the Playoff Winner also has the best record, then the Runner Up in the playoff promotes.
If the Playoff Winner/Best Record/Runner Up is not eligible for promotion, no club from MLS or MLS-2 promotes/relegates.
If the Runner Up is the only eligible club for promotion, it does not promote.
The Runner Up only promotes if the Playoff Winner is also eligible.
The "Back-to-Back" Rule: If a club wins two consecutive MLS-2 championships, this club is hereby eligible for promotion in the following MLS season regardless of their current FDF standards position.

East/West:

Due to pro/rel, the Eastern Conferences shall be re-named the American Conference and the Western Conference renamed the National Conference. To keep with existing rivalries, no current MLS clubs will change conferences, and MLS-2 clubs will be promoted within the conference that suits them geographically

TV:

MLS works out a TV deal for the MLS-2. This is included within the framework of the new TV deal that begins in 2022. MLS-2 receives 33 nationally televised matches a year, including the MLS-2 Championship and playoffs games. Also, each MLS-2 club works out a local TV contract.

Revenue sharing:

Revenue sharing is handled on a 70-30 formula. MLS First division receives 70% of all total MLS revenues and MLS-2 clubs receive 30%.

USL relegation

If an ineligible club is unable to attain FDF standards for a period of 8 consecutive years, it re-enters a probationary period whereby the club must achieve and maintain FDF standards for two years. If after four years, the standards have not been maintained for two years, the club shall be relegated to the USL Third Division. The club shall be eligible immediately the next season for promotion into MLS-2. Footnote: USL Clubs are not eligible for promotion into MLS-2 unless they have met the IE criteria for MLS-2 or if they are an MLS-Reserve club.

Thoughts??

The Heroes CW Must Include for the Supergirl/Flash Musical Crossover

Before Joss Whedon is ready to direct the Musical Crossover for Flash and Supergirl, the are the characters that he and the writers and producers of the CW DC television series should include before they finish with the episode scripts and start filming and casting.

For the Musical

Here are the main characters and who Whedon should pair each of them up with for many of the songs he should include and why

Flash and Supergirl
Flash and Supergirl by Mark Marino, on Flickr

The main stars of the crossover who team up with the rest of the following characters against a band of metas co-led by Zoom/Black Flash and the original Silver Banshee fought by Superman who shall be refered to as Agatha McDougal while Music Meister appears as a secondary villain or neutral character playing the music for the characters to sing the words

Cisco and Winn
Cisco and Winn by Mark Marino, on Flickr

The two nerds of humor skilled in hacking almost anything by computer and because the both of them in seasons 2 and 3 of Flash and season 1 of Supergirl went through the same struggles with Caitlin and Siobhan and what they did that made their friends turn on them was by forcing and ratting out their personal secrets to others. They are also skilled in making specialized suits for the heroes they work with on their worlds.

Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost and Siobhan Smythe/Silver Banshee
Caitlin and Siobhan by Mark Marino, on Flickr

The two women who turned to the dark side betraying their friends for the rebounds and the setbacks they caused them and what they went through that made them become enemies to Barry and Kara as they are blaming them for messing up their lives. While Caitlin is driven into madness by using her powers for so long while struggling to suppress and get rid of them, Siobhan however was able to maintain control of her abilities while her powers within her continue growing by maintaining her sense of Optimism to keep the curse from killing her or corrupting her through the process of sharp ringings in her head. Even though actress Italia Ricci isn't expecting to reprise her role for the musical because of how loud Banshee is with her screams, still, Joss Whedon and CW would say otherwise. Besides having her reprising her role in Supergirl season 2 and Flash season 3's musical crossover would also be the first step to her character's redemption as she will no longer be an enemy to Supergirl as they take on the villainess that was truely responsible for all the hassle she's been going through who is none other than the original Silver Banshee fought by Superman. With Caitlin and Siobhan paired up for a duet in the musical crossover, they'll be sure to get to know each other while they help their friends take down the villains in the two part crossover.

Harrison Wells (Harry from Earth 2) and Jonn Jonzz/Martian Manhunter
Harry and Martian Manhunter by Mark Marino, on Flickr

Two experts of Team Flash and the DEO who have been through a lot regarding the people in their families even though Wells is lucky that his daughter is alive and that Jonn still lost his family back on Mars. Still one good reason they should still pair up for the musical is because of Jesse and M'gann and how they put up with them during stressful situations and are sometimes not sure how smart Barry and Kara are at thinking before making mistakes and maintaining control of their anger.

Jesse Quick and M'gann M'orzz/Miss Martian
Jesse and Miss Martian by Mark Marino, on Flickr

As the two girls that Harrison Wells and Jonn Jonzz easily relate to and with Jesse confirmed to appear in the musical crossover next year and with actress Sharon Leal known for her career as a popstar singer, she to shall reprise her role as Miss Martian for this musical two part event and because of how much potential M'gann has compared to Jesse Quick, these two should be a perfect pair while singing with the rest of the cast.

and last of all for main characters of this crossover

Jay Garrick/Flash of Earth 3 and Superman
Jay Garrick and Superman by Mark Marino, on Flickr

Two original heroes before Barry and Supergirl that are seen in the Arrowverse as inspirational mentors to the scarlet speedster and the girl of steel as well as their bold relationship with them in many different perspectives and have dealt with Zoom and McDougal before Barry and Kara.

Thin Ice - FOX Orders Antarctica-Set Comedy From 'New Girl' Creator

Fox Orders Pilot For Antarctica Comedy From ‘New Girl’ Creator Liz Meriwether
Quote:

Written by Meriwether, Ed Macdonald and Mark Grimmer, Thin Ice centers on a woman who reclaims her dreams when she finds herself at the end of the earth – in Antarctica – surrounded by a group of brilliant misfits.

“Fox has been and continues to be such a great home for me with New Girl,” Meriwether said. “And now I’m looking forward to making a pilot about the sexiest place on Earth: Antarctica. And, yes, we will be shooting on location, so I think we’re going to find a cast very soon,” she joked.

Who should challenge Trump in 2020?

I tried to include as many options as possible, even some of the more zany conspiracy theory ones.

I still think Cory Booker is the most likely option but Sanders does intrigue me. Also, if you want feel free to include who they might include as a running mate? I could see Cory and Warren teaming up with Keith Ellison as Chair of the DNC but I have no idea who Sanders would choose as a running mate

How do I prevent my contacts from finding me on Instagram?

Hi. I'm a gay guy. But I'm not fully out to my family and friends.

I want to use Instagram to get to know other lgbt people.

Hence, I do not want my family, friends, colleagues to find/follow me on Instagram.

But Instagram now prompts you to share contacts and allow your contacts to find/locate you on Instagram.

Is there a way to prevent this?

I don't really want to set my account to private because that means other lgbt people won't be able to see my photos freely. And making my Instagram account private means that my family, friends will still be able to find me on Instagram, then they will request to follow me. Then I will have to either oblige or block them ( which they will be unhappy if I block them)

I understand that there is a way to unsync/disconnect your contacts from connecting with you on Instagram.

But I'm concerned, if I disconnect/ unsync my contacts, can they still find me even though they still have my mobile number in their phones?

I didn't use my mobile number to sign up for my Instagram account. But I have WhatsApp and my friends, family, colleagues's mobile numbers stored in my phone.

Can someone help me with this? I will really appreciate your help.

Thank you. :)

Toys R Us is pulling a toy off the shelves after a scary situation for a Bellingham family.
The Hardens bought a Tonka truck from Toys R Us as a Christmas present for the grandson Friday night. On the drive home, they say it ignited in flames.
They stopped at a rest area to put out the fire, but when they drove back to Toys R Us to return the toy, it burst into flames again and set their truck on fire.
"The firefighter ... doused the truck with water and I'm, I still can't believe it, we almost shut I-5 down, and it was just a toy for our grandson, who would have known," says Delmond Harden.

The family says Toys R Us apologized and will give them a refund.
The company responded with this statement:

"Although this appears to be an isolated incident, out of an abundance of caution we are implementing a stop-sale and pulling the item from our stores and Toysrus.com pending further investigation. In the meantime, we are working closely with Dynacraft, the manufacturer, to determine the cause."

Warner Bros. looking to adapt Frank Miller/Geoff Darrow's 'Hard Boiled'

http://ift.tt/2flfayU
Quote:

Ben Wheatley, Warner Bros Circle Frank Miller & Geoff Darrow’s ‘Hard Boiled’
by Mike Fleming Jr

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros is negotiating to acquire the Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow comic book Hard Boiled, with the studio poised to set Free Fire‘s Ben Wheatley to adapt and direct. The film will be a co-production between Solipsist Films and Hollywood Gang, produced by Stephen L’Heureux, Bernie Goldmann and Gianni Nunnari. Solipsist did Miller’s Sin City, and Hollywood Gang did Miller’s 300.

Miller’s got those credits and Darrow also is widely considered one of the great artists of his generation, and the third big brain on the Matrix films, which he helped the Wachowskis design. Hard Boiled debuted in 1990 and focuses on insurance investigator Carl Seltz, who learns that he’s really a homicidal cyborg tax collector codenamed Nixon. A fellow robot informs him that he’s the last hope for their race to escape their programmed slavery.

WME and Independent Talent Group-repped Wheatley has heat from Free Fire, the raucous actioner that stars Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson, Sam Riley and Cillian Murphy. A24 acquired after the pic following its Toronto bow. It will be released March 17.

Couldn’t confirm Hard Boiled with Warner Bros, and there has been prior talk of adaptations, but I hear this is going to make.
