Which film had your favorite Iron Man portrayal/performance?

I'm going with IM1.

Which film had your favorite Iron Man portrayal/performance?

Which film had your favorite Spider-Man portrayal/performance?

Reminder: This isn't necessarily asking you what the best film is. Spider-Man 2 could be your favorite Spidey film, but say, Civil War could have your favorite Spidey performance.

Apparently clowns are trying to in South Carolina.

http://ift.tt/2bJbUbV

Quote:

sinister-looking clown who has allegedly tried to lure kids into the woods in a small South Carolina town has been photographed. The picture came after a 10-year-old boy told cops two clowns tried to lure him into the woods saying, "we got candy." Some neighbors fear the clowns may be using a boarded-up house in the woods of Greenville as a base of operations. A sheriff's deputy says authorities are taking the reports seriously and a resident is trying to organize a neighborhood watch.
Well that's terrifying.

EDIT: Crap, my computer stalled writing the title, can someone change it to "Apparently, Clowns are trying to lure children in South Carolina".

Petition to change the National Anthem is gaining speed..

In the wake of Colin Kapernack's protest of the National Anthem, an online petition is circulating the internet to change the song to something less offensive: 'Escape from the City' from the popular 2001 videogame, "Sonic Adventure 2"

As of this posting, the petition has reached 9,192 signatures, but still has a way to go to get Obama's attention. Together, we can MAKE AMERICA FAST AGAIN

Bruce Lee's "Warrior" pitch being turned into a series by Justin Lin and Cinemax

Being a big Bruce Lee fan, I'm definitely happy that it's getting a chance to properly see the light of day in what I presume will be closer to what he envisioned compared to the movie version with David Carradine from some years ago.

Quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Cinemax has given a pilot order to Warrior, a crime drama based on original material written by Bruce Lee. Warrior has been a passion project for both the late martial arts icon and Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin who is executive producing the pilot with an eye to direct. The pilot was written by Jonathan Tropper, co-creator of Banshee, Cinemax’s first homegrown primetime drama hit.

Set against the backdrop of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the aftermath of the Civil War, Warrior tells the story of a young martial arts prodigy, newly arrived from China, who finds himself caught up in the bloody Chinatown Tong wars.

In 2013, Lin’s company partnered with Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, and Bruce Lee Enterprises to turn Lee’s material into a TV series.
Film and Television
Shutterstock Bruce Lee had spent many years working on Warrior, but it was never published or produced. Years after the Enter The Dragon actor’s sudden 1973 death at age 32, his daughter found a large collection of handwritten notes that Bruce wrote himself on the concept for the series that became the inspiration for the show. Perfect Storm Entertainment and Shannon Lee brought the idea to Cinemax in spring 2015, with Tropper coming on board as writer/executive producer.

Also executive producing are Perfect Storm’s Lin, president Troy Craig Poon and head of TV Danielle Woodrow as well as Shannon Lee of Bruce Lee Enterprises. The pilot is being produced for Cinemax by Perfect Storm Entertainment, Tropper Ink and Bruce Lee Entertainment.

In addition to his legacy as a martial arts and action star, Lee had strong writing interests and penned philosophy pieces as well as poetry.

Rumor: Squirrel Girl and The New Warriors

http://ift.tt/2cpSrT7

This is nuts: Marvel and ABC Studios are developing a New Warriors comedy series that would put the spotlight on little-known comic book heroine Squirrel Girl, TVLine has learned exclusively. Both Marvel and ABC Studios declined to comment, but sources confirm that the half-hour project is currently being shopped around to cable and streaming outlets.

Described as the junior version of The Avengers, the New Warriors are a superhero squad made up of teenagers, one of whom would include Doreen Green (aka Squirrel Girl). For the record, SG can do more than just communicate with the world’s vast squirrel population; she also possesses super-speed and strength.

Squirrel Girl — who in the comics would go on to serve as the nanny to Luke Cage and Jessica Jones’ daughter — made headlines recently when Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick expressed a desire to play the cheeky character on the big screen, telling Net A Porter, “My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!” (Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo in turn said Kendrick would be “perfect casting.”)

3DS RPG seemingly headed west.

The Brazil Advisory Rating Board has rated Dragon Ball Fusions for 3DS.
Publisher Bandai Namco has yet to officially announce a western release.

The Ganbarion-developed RPG was released in Japan earlier this month. The game focuses on the Dragon Ball series’ popular Fusion element, allowing never before conceived character combinations. It follows an original protagonist and uses a turn-based battle system where players select commands to perform attacks with a party of up to five characters.

Famitsu awarded Dragon Ball Fusions a 33 out of 40.

Live Fast Die Hot - Anne Hathaway

Warner Bros has acquired rights to Live Fast Die Hot by bestselling author Jenny Mollen. Anne Hathaway has come attached to star in a film based on the author’s experiences, and Gail Berman will produce with Hathaway. Mollen, whose book was published by Doubleday in June, will be executive producer.

The best-selling memoir chronicles the eccentric and exciting exploits of Mollen, who was forced to re-prioritize her impulsive, social-media-heavy life after becoming pregnant with her son. As Mollen embarks on trips to Morocco and Peru in hopes of self-reflection and discovery, she realizes that motherhood and confronting her past demons might not be as difficult as she once thought.

This is great news, with Anne also attached to the Oceans Eight movie. I can see Anne connecting to the first time mother themes. I'm excited to hear and see more from this project.

Sci-Fi 'Spartacus' "The Champion" in the Works

Quote:

Taken franchise director Olivier Megaton is attached to helm The Champion, a sci-fi action project written by actor-turned-scribe Hal Ozsan.

Steve Richards and his Endurance Media are backing the project, with Richards producing with colleagues Steve Barnett and James Tomlinson. Brian Spink will executive produce.

Described as being in the vein of a futuristic Spartacus, Champion tells of a man falsely imprisoned for an act of terrorism who must battle through the prison’s gladiator program to regain his freedom.

Endurance, which is financing the project, is aiming to shoot early 2017. Endurance is currently in production on the Ron Shelton comedy Villa Capri, which stars Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones.

WME-repped Megaton is best known for his action-movie oeuvre, having directed the Liam Neeson movies Taken 2 and Taken 3, as well as Jason Statham in Transporter 2. He also directed the Zoe Saldana action vehicle Colombiana.

Champion is the first script sale for Ozsan, who is better known for his runs on Dawson’s Creek (he played movie director Todd Carr) and Kyle XY. He was also a lead singer of a Sunset Strip rock band before nabbing recent acting gigs on Graceland, The Blacklist and Lucifer.

Is the over reliance on humour a problem in the MCU

For some reason the other thread was deleted instead of moved to the correct place but I thought it was a good subject.

Now obviously the MCU is very successful and most of the films are a lot of fun. But I know myself and others have a problem with the over abundance of humour sometimes. I think mostly it was bad in AOU when it seemed like the characters were fighting one another with one liners, almost like they were trying to one up each other.

I think it was at one of its worst in Iron Man 3 aswell when Tony Stark is cracking jokes even though he thinks Pepper is dead.

I think the film that balanced it best was Ant Man, the humour never felt out of place and when it was serious it was serious.

Affleck tweeted awesome Deathstroke test footage, cast him !

Super dudes ! Affleck tweeted some test footage of Deathstroke, looking badass.

Check it out....

@BenAffleck

( Sorry my phone won't let me copy/paste links)

Cast this iconic DC villain ( at least we know it won't be Will Smith, thank God !)

My picks.....

Scott Adkins ! ( or at least for the stunt work)

Michael Jai White ( black Deadshot, why not a black Deathstroke ?)

More to come later. Discuss !

BvS WareHouse Fight vs. Daredevil Stairwell fight

This year the superhero franchise upped its game in terms of fight choreography. We've been blessed with some incredible action scenes. In terms of hand to hand combat, I think the two standouts of 2016 are the Daredevil season 2 stairwell scene where DD lays a one take smackdown on a group of biker thugs and the Batman warehouse sequence from BvS in which after 25 years of cinema finally displays what a badass Batman is in combat.

If you had to choose, which do you feel was the better fight sequence?

Alison Brie to Star in Netflix Wrestling Comedy 'GLOW' From Jenji Kohan

The Netflix series marks the in-demand actress' latest TV role since 'Community' and 'BoJack Horseman.'

Alison Brie is hopping into Netflix's wrestling ring.

The Community and BoJack Horseman favorite has booked the starring role in the streaming giant's Jenji Kohan comedy GLOW, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

GLOW — aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling — is inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. The 10-episode comedy is set in Los Angeles and will showcase big hair and body slams and tell the fictionalized story of an out of work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers. The comedy is based on the professional women's wrestling syndicated TV series that existed in the '80s. The comedy was picked up to series in May.

I'd like to specifically talk about Ant-Man here, In the Ant-Man movie Hope says that "when you r small energy's compressed so you have a 200 pound man behind a 100th of an inch wide. you are like a bullet". so that means when he becomes big he still should have his normal strength which means he can not lift trucks like he did it in the movie right? what do you guys think about this?

Deathstroke: Is he in Justice League? If so, who is playing him?

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but it sure as hell looks like Deathstroke will be appearing in Justice League, based off the video Ben Affleck just posted on his Twitter feed. And if so, then my interest in this movie just went through the roof. Been hoping to see Slade in a movie for a long time.

What do you think? Is this from JL? And if so, who is that beneath the mask? It may very well just be a stuntman, but given that they zoom in on his eye, I'm think this might be a real actor.

How famous are these characters in their own world?

Compared to people in real life, how famous would these characters be? This is sort of a general DC universe question, but I think it works well in film.

With some it seems fairly clear. Lex Luthor is usually an Elon Musk or Donald Trump type figure. Presumably, he is world famous, and has a sizable Wikipedia page.

But then you have Bruce Wayne, who everyone seems to know. But would they? He's inherited a huge company, but aside from wealth, why would he be famous? Does the average joe know the heir to a Fortune 500 company? Certainly in Gotham, but outside of it, not so much.

Lois Lane and Clark Kent's fame also seems to vary depending on the adaptation. Lois Lane is usually at least a successful reporter. But in Man of Steel Clark Kent's professional life was an afterthought, so he may be a total unknown.

What do you guys think?

How should the X-Men films proceed from this point?

Well this has been an interesting year for the X-Men movies, with Deadpool being a surprise hit, while X-Men Apocalypse being a disappointment.

The X-Men film franchise has always been very hit or miss, not completely awful and a total failure like the Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider franchises, but never hitting the same finical heights of the Avengers, Batman and other such popular comic book franchises. The movies range wildly in terms of quality.

So, how should the X-Men films proceed from this point?

Puddin' time ! Rate Leto's Joker in comparison to other portrayals.

Hey folks,

Finally saw Suicide Squad - and for me one of the highlights was Jared Leto's Joker. In a messy and forgettable film, his performance was one of the points of distinction - far more so than Smith as Deadshot.

Great to see how committed leto was to the role and that he took it in a different direction - somewhere between Nicholson and Ledger, but with a ton of bling !

Personally I liked it - and I don't know why Leto is *****ing about his scenes being cut from the film - after all it ain't about him !

Still, I think us DC afficianados should have a civilized discussion about how Leto's performance matches up against the others - what we liked, what we didn't etc. Just live action for now thanks.

For me, Ledger is still far and away the greatest, but I would be bold enough to put Ledger at number 2 - because I felt he had a serious sense of menace.

Of course, I don't have a lot to go on, but hopefully we'll get a solo Batman v Joker film where he can really strut his stuff - chuck in Harley too, I thought they had a good dynamic. ( I kind of want it explained at some point that the reason he has all metal capped teeth is because Batman knocked them all out after J killed Jason Todd).

So, here's where I think the Joker performances stand at present.

1. Ledger, simply the best

2. Leto, crazy, menacing and freaky

3. Nicholson, big props for going all the way back in '89, a black comedic portrayal.

4. Cesar Romero, servicable but the laugh always bugged me.

I might write a bit more later on the nuances and subtle distinctions between Leto and Ledger - but I'm working 7 days this week, so I'm to tired to think straight.

Harmony Korine Is Adapting Alissa Nutting’s Scandalous Book ‘Tampa’

http://ift.tt/2bTz8x6
Per The Playlist, “during a Q&A last night at the Miami Beach Cinematheque, Korine revealed he’s working on an adaptation of Alissa Nutting‘s controversial and acclaimed novel, ‘Tampa.'” Much like the recent indie outing “A Teacher,” the film follows a young female teacher who seduces a much younger student. While Hannah Fiddell’s beautifully drawn film was more focused on the emotional fallout of the relationship, Nutting’s book is much more sharp, charged and, frankly, just plain dangerous.

Synopsis:
Quote:

In Alissa Nutting’s novel Tampa, Celeste Price, a smoldering 26-year-old middle-school teacher in Florida, unrepentantly recounts her elaborate and sociopathically determined seduction of a 14-year-old student.

Celeste has chosen and lured the charmingly modest Jack Patrick into her web. Jack is enthralled and in awe of his eighth-grade teacher, and, most importantly, willing to accept Celeste’s terms for a secret relationship—car rides after dark, rendezvous at Jack’s house while his single father works the late shift, and body-slamming erotic encounters in Celeste’s empty classroom. In slaking her sexual thirst, Celeste Price is remorseless and deviously free of hesitation, a monstress of pure motivation. She deceives everyone, is close to no one, and cares little for anything but her pleasure.

Tampa is a sexually explicit, virtuosically satirical, American Psycho–esque rendering of a monstrously misplaced but undeterrable desire. Laced with black humor and crackling sexualized prose, Alissa Nutting’s Tampa is a grand, seriocomic examination of the want behind student / teacher affairs and a scorching literary debut.

Tom Holland Set To Direct ‘Rock Paper Dead’; Well-Known Horror Team On Board

Quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Fright Night and Child’s Play helmer Tom Holland next will direct the horror film Rock Paper Dead. Holland will be joined by a respected team of talent from that genre that includes Emmy-nominated Vincent Guastini (Requiem for a Dream), who will provide special makeup effects; the film’s co-writer Victor Miller (Friday the 13th); and composer Harry Manfredini (Friday the 13th). The film will start production next month for a 2017 release. There also will be a major merchandising push with Halloween masks designed by Guastini.

The film is about Peter Harris, aka “The Doll Maker,” a serial killer who returns to his ancestral family estate after being released from the state’s hospital for the criminally insane after 20 years – a “cured” man. Once inside the old house, anguished memories from a tortured childhood and visitations from past victims shake Peter’s resolve, but it isn’t until the lovely young Ashley enters his life that Peter makes a fateful decision, one that rekindles old desires that always have ended in murder.

Writer-director Holland’s other credits include numerous Stephen King adaptations including Thinner and The Langoliers as well as several episodes of Tales from the Crypt and Masters of Horror. He also wrote Psycho II. Rock Paper Dead will be produced by Amy Williams (Mothers and Daughters), Victor Miller and Kerry Fleming (who co-wrote the project).

Vincent Guastini
Guastini, who is a co-producer on the film, will provide the special makeup effects, including a line of serial killer-inspired dolls and masks based on the film. The dolls will be from the the Doll Maker’s collection of victim dolls and represent each of the serial killer’s victims shown in the film.

He also will create death masks that will be seen in the film. These items are then going to be part of an entire line of film-inspired merchandise items that will be available in stores around the time of the film’s expected release in theaters right before Halloween 2017.

Guastini trained under the legendary Hollywood makeup artist Dick Smith. His credits include The Last of the Mohicans, Requiem for a Dream and Saturday Night Live, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

Dev Patel's Lion

Quote:

‘Lion’ Trailer: Dev Patel Searches For His Long Lost Family

Posted on Friday, August 26th, 2016 by Jack Giroux

Producer Harvey Weinstein sees awards potential in Lion, one of the two contenders he’s betting on this fall. The other awards hopeful film coming from TWC, in Harvey Weinstein’s eyes, is The Founder, based on the life of Ray Kroc. While that biopic is about a man driven by greed, Lion is a more kind-hearted and inspiring tale, about a man (Dev Patel) searching for his family.

Starring alongside Patel are Rooney Mara, Nicole Kidman, and (an actor I’m always delighted to see) David Wenham. Wenham and Kidman, who co-starred in Australia, play Saroo Brierley’s (Patel) adoptive parents. At the age of five, Saroo found himself lost in Calcutta. Unable to find his family, the young boy was then adopted by an Australian couple. 25 years later, he decides to search for his birth parents and brother. Written by Luke Davies (Life), Lion is based on a true story that Saroo first told in his non-fiction novel A Long Way Home.

The drama is Garth Davis‘ first feature film, but he also directed five episodes of the acclaimed series Top of the Lake. Davis is already again working with Rooney Mara again on a Mary Magdalene biopic, so it’s easy to assume the two were happy with their experience on Lion, which looks like a potentially emotional and moving drama. Nicole Kidman has been making some excellent choices lately, too — The Family Fang, The Killing of a Sacred Dear, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, Big Little Lies, and Sofia Coppola‘s The Beguiled— so her involvement also inspires some confidence.

Here’s the synopsis from Tiff:
From the production team that brought us The King’s Speech comes Lion: the incredible true story of Saroo Brierley and his 25-year odyssey. Precocious five-year-old Saroo Khan is always up for an adventure. Eager to help his older brother Guddu with any odd job that will provide their family with much-needed money, Saroo follows Guddu everywhere he goes. One night the two boys are separated on a train platform in their native Madhya Pradesh, and Saroo winds up nearly a thousand miles away in Calcutta. Homeless in a strange city where he doesn’t speak the language, Saroo gets by on his street smarts until he is taken in by a government orphanage. When an Australian couple adopts him, he is taken to live with them in Hobart, Tasmania. It’s not until Saroo leaves that island as a young Australian man that he begins to wonder what became of his first home and the family he so adored. Ingeniously using satellite images from Google Earth, he finds a lead to follow up on. But the search for Saroo’s past threatens to overwhelm his present, and he finds himself further adrift than he ever imagined possible.
Lion opens in theaters November 25th.

Batman/Horror Crossovers

Batman (DC Comics) represents urbanization paranoia, so his nemeses are city ghouls who prey on sensibilities about pedestrian angst.

Scarecrow uses fear-toxins; Poison Ivy is an eco-terrorist; Two-Face is a rogue vigilante.

Gotham City symbolizes urban claustrophobia, and we've seen plenty of American noir/horror films focusing on urban hell --- e.g., Jason takes Manhattan, Dark City, From Hell, Escape from New York, etc., etc.

Since the city is a place where people meet to socialize, politicize, and trade, it is also a hub of general angst, and since Batman is the ultimate urban vigilante, arguably focusing more on urban insanity than Superman (DC Comics) and Captain America (Marvel Comics), we could consider the creative value of Batman-Horror comics crossovers.

For example, Scarecrow is a bat-villain who is not unlike the American horror film icon Leatherface, the chainsaw-wielding cannibal from the cult-favorite Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film franchise.

Video games such as Mortal Kombat have already explored the entertainment value of introducing horror film ghouls to traditional fantasy and vigilante-realm superhuman arenas.

Why not have the Dark Knight contend with the likes of the chainsaw-freak Leatherface or the dream-warden Freddy Krueger (from the Nightmare on Elm Street horror film series) in an urban setting, so as to pronounce a general interest in 'urban hell-holes'?

The Predator film series, for example, has offered us images of the hunting creature prowling the American city, and we've seen spin-off video games in which the Predator roams around an urban environment.

I'd love to see a comics-horror crossover film such as Batman v Leatherface, perhaps directed by a risk-taking film-maker such as Robert Rodriguez or Brett Ratner.

After all, isn't 'urban hell' a synonym for 'creative direction?'

Just thinking aloud...

Why are American Sportsmen generally **** at banter?

With a few notable exceptions Ali (loved far more in Britain and visited Britain a lot when he was unpopular over Vietnam in the USA) and Chael Sonnen, excellent at Bants, that rare thing a funny American. I mean your comedians are **** also and most of the good ones are dead and judged as great on one or two videos. American comedy, what a misnomer, a bit like American Intelligence. In WWII the Germans had a saying, "When the Brits fire we duck, when we fire they duck and when the yanks fire everyone ducks themselves included because no one knows where the **** it will go". Obviously they say it in German.

I just watched the McgregorlDiaz press conferences again and I am convinced Diaz didn't get riled by Mcgregor because he is some kind of retard and didn't understand the jokes, credit to him a tough retard but a retard none-the-less. Funnier still was the Bisping after fight with my almost namesake Luke Rockhold. Simply put he could not banter if his life depended on it, he thinks insults are all the matter, No! Rockhold you have to be funny. Brits are, yanks usually, not so much!

So why aren't Americans funny? At least in the comedic sense? I'll grant you, you do have a trump card in Comedy and if he gets in the Whitehouse the joke is on you. So again, why aren't Americans in any comedic sense funny ****ers?

Rupert Wyatt To Helm Sci-Fi “Captive State”

“Rise of the Planet of the Apes” and “The Gambler” director Rupert Wyatt is set to direct the sci-fi feature “Captive State” which he co-wrote with his wife Erica Beeney.
Plot details are being kept under wraps for the film which will go into production sometime next year. Several studios and financiers are said to be chasing the property, but nothing will be locked until after the Labor Day weekend.
At one point Wyatt was attached to direct Fox’s “Gambit” but left that project which itself just lost Wyatt’s replacement Doug Liman earlier today. Wyatt has been busy on TV projects recently including AMC’s “Turn” and FOX’s upcoming “The Exorcist” reboot.

DC Classic Original Movies - new DTV line?

The New Batman: Return of the Caped Crusuaders movie is labelled 'a DC Classic Original Movie'. From Twitter:

"Might this 'Classic' labelling leads to more DTV's based on older shows/movies? I'd love Burton-verse movie."

Gary Miereanu [WB PR Guy]:
"Very astute observation. Watch carefully today ..".

https://twitter.com/SuperPRGuy/statu...03235236139009

Thisis a very exciting prospect, something that interests me more than the DC Original Movie line. We could get more Batman 66, Burton's Batman, Donner's Superman, Lynda Carter back as Wonder Woman etc.

Kevin Smith's Superman script? Batman Triumphant/Unchained? Justice League Mortal? Other known-but-unmade gems. Interesting thing about the first one in particular is people know a lot about it already (and Batman cameos, woulsd have been the first DC character crossover)

But a lot of people around are talking about resurrecting the 1989 Batverse so hopefully they've taken notice.

We could even get versions of old comics/Elseworlds that don't fit into the DCAOM world?

Jungle Book (2018) (Andy Serkis, Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch) (Warner Bros.)

Not only are Disney and Warner Bros. at war with comic book film universes, but they will now be engaged in a battle of Jungle Book films.

After Disney's wildly-successful, and critically-acclaimed The Jungle Book (2016), the company plans to release a sequel some time between 2018 and 2019, perhaps based on some of original author Rudyard Kipling's other Mowgli-related works, or based on their own, brand new material.

What many people do not know, however, is that Warner Bros. had originally announced in April 2012 that they would be developing a film based on The Jungle Book, while Disney made its announcement a year later in July 2013.

Warner Bros.' version stalled, however, with directors Steve Kloves (Harry Potter films screenwriter), Alejandro Iñárritu and Ron Howard all attached at various points to the project. Iñárritu left due to scheduling conflicts with Birdman and The Revenant.

The film finally found its director and star, Andy Serkis. Serkis will portray Baloo in the film, while Christian Bale will play Bagheera, and Benedict Cumberbatch will play Shere Khan. These roles were played by Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, and Idris Elba, respectively, in the 2016 Disney adaptation.

Disney's The Jungle Book sequel will likely be released in 2018 or 2019. Warner Bros.' film, Jungle Book, is scheduled for an October 19, 2018 release.

Warner Bros. Pushes 'Jungle Book' to 2018, 'Wonder Woman' Gets New Date
April 06, 2016 8:55am PT by Rebecca Ford

...

Jungle Book, which will be directed by Andy Serkis, is moving back an entire year, from Oct. 6, 2017, to Oct. 19, 2018.

Warner Bros.' Jungle Book movie is one of two competing films based on Rudyard Kipling's book of the same name. Disney's version, directed by Jon Favreau, comes out on April 15 in the U.S.

"I've got to say that personally I'm absolutely thrilled that Warner Bros. has changed the delivery date of our movie," Serkis wrote Wednesday. "The ambition for this project is huge. What we are attempting is an unprecedented level of psychological and emotional nuance in morphing the phenomenal performances of our cast into the facial expressions of our animals."

He also added: "So, every minute more that we have to evolve the technological pipeline will make all the difference. … The evidence is there already and it's off the chain exciting, so hang on in there. …This is truly next-generation storytelling, and it will be the real deal!"

Disney Claims Dates for Several New Movies; Confirms ‘Jungle Book 2,’ ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel
Brent Lang
Senior Film and Media Reporter

...

The “Jungle Book” and “Mary Poppins” sequels are farther along in their development process and will likely be among the films snagging those dates. This kind of flag planting is becoming increasingly common place. As studios plunge deeper into the tentpole business, they want to establish themselves in prime release dates years in advance.

See below for dates:

UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) previously dated on 12/22/17 moves up to 7/28/17
UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) now dated on 4/6/18
UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION now dated on 8/3/18
UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION now dated on 12/25/18

UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) now dated on 12/20/19
Expect two Jungle Book films in 2018. Disney would be smart to place The Jungle Book 2 ahead of Warner Bros.' Jungle Book on the 2018 calendar.

Agony - Survival Horror (2017)

"I haven’t been to church since I was about five years old, but the trailer for Agony makes me think I should change that pretty soon. This isn’t hyperbole, I had chills watching this, and not the good kind."

http://ift.tt/2bnz3lw

Official Synopses:

You will begin your journey as tormented soul within the depths of hell, without any memories about your past.

The special ability to control people on your path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives you the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions you are in.

By exploring the hostile environment and interacting with other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require meeting the mystical Red Goddess.

The trailer was recently released. It is VERY NSFW so I can't post it, but if you're a lover of horror, definitely check it out. I'm really excited for this, and Scorn.

25th Anniversary for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System!

Man, hard to believe it's been 25 Years already. I remember it was the first console I ever got at launch. My dad and I went down to K-Mart and picked that, F-Zero, and Pilotwings up. I remember staying up pretty late playing it. I do remember it was a Friday, and the next week I started 1st Grade.

Still remember carrying this box to the counter. Too bad I threw the box away.

Many memories with this console, so many great games from Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy II and III, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country, Megaman X, Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Super Star Wars trilogy, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Mario RPG.

Jeeze I could go on and on.

But just figured since it was the 25th Anniversary to Make a thread to talk about the good old memories with the SNES.

Take it away Paul Rudd.

The BBC’s 100 Greatest 21st Century Films

By
Garth Franklin -

Monday, August 22nd 2016 7:06 pm

In the wake of a U.S. summer film season in which not a lot was well-received, and a culture more vocal about their differing opinions on films than ever before, a good list of ‘Top Movies’ always seems to incite some healthy and rigorous debate. Today, the results have been published from a BBC Culture commissioned poll of critics to determine the 100 greatest films of the 21st Century.
The results is one of the best lists of this type in some time. An excellent mix of titles from 2000 onwards and from filmmakers of pretty much every nationality. Some like the Coens, Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, Michael Haneke and Paul Thomas Anderson made the list three times while David Fincher, Abbas Kiarostami, Andrew Stanton and Terrence Malick got on there twice.
As always there will be debate over what’s missing, and you could easily include another hundred films of worthy additions such as: “Y Tu Mama Tambien,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “Punch-Drunk Love,” “Casino Royale,” “Collateral,” “Black Swan,” “The Quiet American,” “Munich,” “In the Loop,” “Mommy,” “The Others,” “Gladiator,” “United 93,” “Drive,” “Skyfall,” “Donnie Darko,” “A Single Man,” “The Bourne Supremacy,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “The Grey,” “The Incredibles,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “Batman Begins,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Departed,” “The Guard,” “In Bruges,” “Traffic,” “28 Days Later,” “Bowling for Columbine,” “Chicago,” “Best in Show,” “Whiplash,” “Gran Torino,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “The Ghost Writer,” “Argo,” “Django Unchained,” “Birdman,” “Calvary,” “Minority Report,” “Tangerine,” “The Avengers,” “The Descent,” “The Wrestler,” “Hunger,” “Adaptation,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” “Battle Royale,” “The Babadook,” “Borat,” “Secret Sunshine,” “Spider-Man 2,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,” “The Raid,” “The Raid 2,” “The Fog of War,” “A History of Violence,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Inside Man,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” “Brick,” “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” “Looper,” “Moon,” “Waltz with Bashir,” Snowpiercer,” “The Hunt,” “Primer,” “Memories of Murder,” “District 9,” “V or Vendetta,” “Before Midnight,” “Toy Story 3,” “Hero,” “Downfall,” “Little Children,” “Burn After Reading,” “Gone Baby Gone,” “Gravity,” “Prisoners,” “The The Imposter,” “Shadow of the Vampire,” “Erin Brockovich,” “Ex Machina,” “The Revenant,” “I’m Not There,” “Amores Perros,” “Starred Up,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Weekend,” “The Martian,” “I Am Love,” “Nightcrawler,” “Sicario,” “Aquarius,” “Creed,” “Clouds of Sils Maria” and one of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Whole The Flash story line for the birds now? [SPOILERS]

After Barry saved his mum in the season 2 final, it means that everything that happened in season 1 & 2 is now different and for the birds, though I liked the story. Does that mean that I will never get to see old Cisco, Catelyn, Joe or Iris again?

Following rumors yesterday that the long-running manga and anime series Bleach was going to receive a live-action adaptation, Warner Bros. confirmed today that it was indeed developing the project.

The film, which is scheduled to be released sometime in 2018 in Japan, will be directed by Shinsuke Sato (The Princess Blade, Gantz) and will star Japanese actor Sota Fukushi in the main role. Based on the manga, Bleach follows a high school student, Ichigo Kurosaki, after he comes into possession of the ability to reap souls. With the newfound powers, Ichigo must protect the human race from evil spirits and help those that have recently died move into the afterlife.

The news was announced in the most recent edition of Shonen Jump, a weekly magazine that carries different manga series. The anime ended its original run back in 2012, but the manga has inspired four animated films over the years and the comic series is still ongoing.

There’s no word from Warner Bros. on if it plans to bring the film stateside at this time. More information can be found on the official website.

Find the Next Big Marvel Star!

So, in multiple threads, when the subject of diversity comes up, the fact is often mentioned that rather than focus their diversity push fully on legacy characters, many of home are inevitably short-lived, instead they should be finding new or existing characters and pushing them to the spotlight, therefore creating lasting diversity.

So what characters, of Marvel's or your own creation, do you think could be the next big additions to Marvel's increasingly diverse stable of heroes?

White Lives Matter protest staged outside NAACP office

Quote:

It's a stark image that caught some in Houston's Third Ward off guard: Confederate battle flags waving outside of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Office.

Roughly 20 people showed up on Sunday, some with the red flag and assault rifles, others holding up a "White Lives Matter" banner, in a protest against the NAACP, according to local media reports.

"We came here because the NAACP headquarters is here and that's one of the most racist groups in America," Scott Lacy, a White Lives Matter member, told KPRC-TV.

The prime examples they cited were the NAACP's response to Black Lives Matter protests, protester Ken Reed told the Houston Chronicle. He said Black Lives Matter and other organizations have resulted in the "attack and killing of police officers, the burning down of cities and things of that nature."

White Lives Matter has formed as a directed response to the Black Lives Matter movement, a civil rights campaign stemming from 2012 that advocates against anti-black racism and is known for its involvement in protests against police killings of black men across the country. Some counter-protesters, using the phrase "White Lives Matter," argue that the Black Lives Matter movement is anti-white

Comic series that you think could work

I was rereading some old GCPD issues and it had me thinking . Is there any more comic series that would work really well that didn't focus on superheroes but did acknowledge them in everyday life . I enjoyed seeing and reading the Gotham PD stories of regular cops dealing with life and all of its craziness in Gotham. I was wondering if anyone else thought some more of these should exist. I've even enjoyed the Sugar and Spike series from the Legends comic . It's been pretty good and has a certain charm to it . They could range from serious to funny . A few ideas I had are .....

The Daily Planet : day to day adventures of the Planet reporters . Featuring Lois, Jimmy, Perry, etc. Sometimes funny but exciting world of the famous newspaper

Star Labs : straight up buddy comedy of two employees working at the lab getting into trouble with experiments gone wrong

Slam Bradley: hard hitting private investigator dealing with everything from cheating spouses to meta crime

Madam Xanadu: kind of like a tales from the crypt/dark side type series

Film Tax Incentives Are a Giant Waste of Money, New Study Finds

“The promise was this was going to diversify the economy, that they were going to draw Hollywood out of Hollywood,” Thom said in an interview. “In general, this does not pay off.”

USC research finds tax incentives for films are a poor investment

Nearly all 50 states have lured Hollywood productions with millions of dollars in special tax incentives for filmmaking, but new USC research shows the incentives fail to deliver the long-term economic benefits promised by industry lobbyists and lawmakers. “The incentives are a bad investment. States pour millions of tax dollars into a program that offers little return,” said lead author Michael Thom, an assistant professor at the USC Price School of Public Policy who specializes in public finance. “We looked at job growth, wage growth, states’ share of the motion picture industry and the industry’s output in each state. On average, the only benefits were short-term wage gains, mostly to people who already work in the industry. Job growth was almost nonexistent. Market share and industry output didn’t budge.”
