Universal Pictures has optioned rights to Matt Ruffs novel Bad Monkeys, a psychological thriller to be adapted as a feature by Bluegrass Films Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark. They will produce with Margot Robbie for her LuckyChap Entertainment, with Robbie also attached to star.The 2007 novel centers on Jane Charlotte, who has been arrested for murder. She says shes a member of a secret organization devoted to fighting evil and that shes working with the Department for the Final Disposition of Irredeemable Persons aka Bad Monkeys. Her confession lands her in the jails psychiatric wing and earns her countless hours of poking, probing, and questioning by a professional. Is Jane crazy or lying? Or is she playing a whole different game altogether? LuckyChaps Josey McNamara will serve as executive producer. Jon Mone will oversee production for Universal and Nicholas Nesbitt will oversee on behalf of Bluegrass. CAA, which represents Stuber, Robbie and Ruff, packaged the project. Robbie is now onscreen playing Jane in Warner Bros The Legend Of Tarzan, and her Harley Quinn is around the corner in Suicide Squad. She is now in production on LuckyChaps Terminal.
