The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (2016)

So this would happen in place of the planned Sinister Six film.

- Introduce the symbiote following Gwen's death and use the crashed space shuttle for its origin. Spider-Man accidentally becomes bonded with it rescuing the two astronauts; Peter is in a state of sorrow, so the symbiote can feed on that.

- Cast Jensen Ackles to play Eddie Brock. The astronauts are taken to the hospital when we're introduced to Brock who manages to sneak in one of their rooms and tries to get an exclusive interview for the Daily Bugle. One of the astronauts says something about a black goo, and when Brock presses for more, he's dragged away and kicked out by a couple of security guards.

- Sinister Six are the villains. One of the members is Chameleon who disguises as Spider-Man and tries to frame him for all kinds of crimes. This prompts the Bugle to publish an article written by Brock claiming Spider-Man to be dangerous to the public. During one scene, Brock is able to approach Spider-Man and question the wall-crawler about his recent behavior. Spider-Man starts to blame Brock for all the negative press before throwing him against a nearby police car. Eventually he exposes Chameleon to be a fraud and proves himself innocent. In an attempt to clear its name and save face, the Bugle fires Brock.

- After realizing it's starting to take control and resisting the urge to kill one of the villains, the climax sees Spider-Man remove the symbiote in the tower of a church using the sound of the bell to weaken it.

- In a mid or post-credits scene, Brock is in the same church and begging for a way to redeem his career as a reporter. He pleads for the Lord to help him. To give him a sign of some kind, as the symbiote begins descending from the tower. It engulfs his whole body, and the screen goes black.
