Ok The final movie in phrase 3 is in 2019 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is coming out in 2018 so I think they should forget about The Amazing Spider-Man 4 and finish The Amzing Spider-Man franchise with a bang before handing over Spider-Man back to Marvel to Re-Reboot The Character for phrase 4

Bethesda confirms Prey 2 cancelled

Prey 2, the follow-up to 3D Realms' first-person adventure game, is officially cancelled and no longer in development at Human Head Studios, Bethesda vice president Pete Hines confirmed with IGN. Hines was unable to share with IGN the date or timeframe for the cancellation. He added that Bethesda believes Prey is “still a cool universe worth exploring” but it isn’t currently clear as far as how or when Bethesda would do another Prey game.

"It wasn't up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It's no longer in development," Hines told CNET. "That wasn't an easy decision, but it's one that won't surprise many folks given that we hadn't been talking about it."

Bethesda officially revealed Human Head Studios’ Prey 2 on March, 2011 as a sci-fi first-person shooter that places players in the role of U.S. Marshall Killian Samuels, now a bounty hunter on an alien planet.

Since its announcement, the game faced delays due to quality concerns and Bethesda denied numerous times that its development was handed off to Dishonored developer Arkane Studios.

Favorite Deadpool runs and stories

What are your favorite Deadpool runs and stories from the comics?

I think the best story ever written about the character is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, from Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn's current Deadpool NOW! run. An absolute masterpiece, which makes the best of Wade's past and humanity. A little short on comedy, but the story is a must read!

Other than that I absolutely love the character's first two mini-series:

The Circle Chase, written by Fabian Nicieza

Sins of the Past, written by Mark Waid

Both stories manage to bring out the elements which make Deadpool the beloved character he is today. Maybe he's not the fully formed character as he is today, but they're a great introduction to him and his world. Weasel also makes his debut in the first mini-series. Great art and atmosphere in both books. I like the somber tone, mixed with the character's crazy antics and dialogue.

Joe Kelly's run: Probably the ultimate Deadpool experience. From issue #1, Kelly juggles the comedy and heart perfectly, and throws us into the crazy world of the Merc with a mouth. We're introduced to characters such as Blind Al, Patch and many more, as we follow Deadpool's struggles to become a better person and finally come to terms with who he is. It's a pity the run later loses some focus later on, but Kelly & Co. were struggling to keep the series alive. Ed McGuinnes' artwork is just beautiful!

Gail Simone: My second favorite writer from the first regular series. Simone managed to shake up things and make the character her own. Her run is short, but fun as hell, and the Deadpool, Inc. idea could actually be used for future Deadpool movies, what do you think?

Paramount Taps Alex Garland to Direct Annihilation

With extremely positive buzz following yesterday's trailer launch for sci-fi thriller Ex Machina , Variety is reporting that Paramount has tapped that film's writer/director Alex Garland to adapt the script and direct the futuristic gothic horror film Annihilation, the first part of novelist Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach Trilogy.

The studio and producer Scott Rudin (also a producer on Ex Machina) acquired movie rights to the 2014 trilogy last year, with the first book "Annihilation" published in March, followed by "Authority" in May and "Acceptance" in September.

The logline for Annihilation focuses on "a biologist seeking answers about her husband's disappearance," but here's a more complete synopsis of the book:

A team of four (a biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a surveyor) set out into a place known as Area X. The area is abandoned and cut off from the rest of civilization. They are the 12th expedition. The other expeditions have been fraught with disappearances, suicides, aggressive cancers, and mental trauma.

This is somewhat familiar territory for Garland, whose 1996 novel "The Beach" (as well as the film of the same name) centered on an isolated island frought with danger. Garland, whose writing credits include 28 Days Later, Dredd and Sunshine, made his directorial debut on Ex Machina , which stars Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander, with A24 releasing it on April 10, 2015.

Easily the characters with the longest running history to Deadpool. It's only a matter of time before they show up. Especially with the rumored X-Force.

They were not in the 2010 draft. But the script has been said to have gone through changes. Specfically the third act, and they can easily take a certain other X characters place.

Scenes from the comics you'd like to see in the movie?

Even though some of us have read the leaked script, there's always room for a polish and changes, so... what scenes from the comics would you like to see in the movie?

Personally, there's one scene from the comics which defines the character's more serious traits. It's from the second Deadpool mini-series written by Mark Waid, Sins from the Past, when Juggernaut takes off his mask and Wade loses his cool and unleashes his rage (and fear), as his then love-interest Syrin was nearby, and he didn't want her to see his scarred face.

Unfortunately I have a very slow connection right now, so it'd take an eternity to post scans of the scene (if someone else can do it, feel free to post 'em).

It's a moment I love, and I'd definitely like to see something similar in the movie.

Sam Raimi is reteaming with the duo behind last year's remake of his cult horror classic Evil Dead. He and Rob Tapert will produce the thriller A Man In the Dark, directed by Fede Alvarez and written by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, through their Ghost House Pictures.

A Man in the Dark centers on a group of three teens who execute perfectly planned home robberies. Their final target is a reclusive blind man who's hiding millions of dollars, but when they break into his house, they find themselves up against a psychopath with his own secrets.

Ghost House's J.R. Young, Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce, and Eric Westerman will oversee the project for the studio. It will be shopped at AFM for international sales by Drake and Kahane's Good Universe. WME Global will conduct the North American sale.

Alvarez and Sayagues previously co-wrote the well-regarded Evil Dead remake, with Alvarez directing. Raimi, who wrote and directed the 1981 original, produced the remake with original trilogy star Bruce Campbell and with Tapert through Ghost House.

The pair broke in with their short Panic Attack!, in which giant robots attack Montevideo, Uruaguay. They're planning more Evil Dead movies with Ghost House, with talk of completing a new standalone trilogy.

They're repped by WME and Anonymous Content, and Alvarez is represented by Jackoway Tyerman.

Dan Freedman negotiated the Man in the Dark deals on behalf of Ghost House.

I really loved the new Evil Dead, so I'm in.

Did Iron Man 3 lay the groundwork for Civil War unintentionally?

Put your thoughts aside for Iron Man 3 for a moment and I think that Iron Man 3 either intentionally or unintentionally layed the groundwork for Civil War. What I mean about this is regarding Iron Patriot in IM3.

A lot of people think that The Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron will start the Civil War, but when you think about Iron Man 3, Rhodey is the liaison between Stark Industries and the U.S. Air Force and Feige said of Rhodes and the Patriot armor, "The notion in the movie is that a red, white and blue suit is a bold statement, and it's meant to be.

In the film, the president asks Rhodey to take up the moniker "Iron Patriot," and don the red, white, and blue suit, in order to be the government's "American hero" in response to the events in The Avengers.

Even at one point, Tony asks Rhodey about the Mandarin and Rhodes replies "This isn't superhero business, it's American business" which sounds a lot like the Registration Act and who the superhero's answer too.

Do you think they will touch upon this in Cap 3 and will Rhodey be involved considering he used to work for the government/Air Force?

Why do you think this is?

Aside from TIH every MCU franchise has had sequels shortly before release.

Only reason I can think of them not planning a sequel is due to a movie flopping but Ant-Man hasn't released yet so they are either thinking it'll flop and not devoting a slot for a sequel or they're planning on only having one movie for this then putting him on a team.

Perhaps the same is planned for Black Panther and Captain Marvel. One movie then onto a team instead of solos.

Does anyone else find it unharmonious that Phase 2 ends with Ant-Man now instead of Age of Ultron? Don't know why they pushed Ant-Man into Phase 2. I always thought that the intention was to end each Phase with an Avengers movie.

Michael Bay, Directing Benghazi Drama

No Transformers 5 for Michael Bay, Directing Benghazi Drama Instead.

The story recounts the terrorist strike on the U.S. Special Mission Compound & CIA Annex in Benghazi, 11 years after the September 11 attacks.

Scribe Chuck Hogan (The Town, FX's The Strain) has been tapped to write 13 Hours for the big-screen. The tone will reportedly be in line with Bay's other popular thrillers -- like The Rock -- and Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down.

Avengers: Infinity War Part I - Cliffhanger/Post-Credit Scene?

As you all know, the third Avengers movie is going to be split into two parts. We've seen this done before, and we all know what's going to happen... There's going to be a HUGE cliffhanger scene at the end of Part I!

Let's get the conversation rolling as to what might happen, also the post-credits scene. I have a feeling the cliffhanger is going to leave everyone like this. :wow: Perhaps a lighthearted scene to have us walk out with after the credits? Jokes, I hope they lay the smack down on us for both!

Ragnarok storylines in the comics to read or re-read before the film

I posted a version of this over in the main Thor: Ragnarok thread, but I thought it might be better to have a place just to talk about what comics we expect to see influence the movie, and a place for new readers to see what comics they should check out between now and the release. As I'm sure I'll miss some the first time around, I can keep updating this first post for people to check out.

So:

In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the end of the world. It starts with the death of Baldur. Most of the gods die in battle (Thor is killed by Jormangund, the Midgard Serpent; Odin is killed by Fenrir the Wolf, etc), and the whole world, moon, and sun are destroyed in various ways (the sun and moon are eaten by giant wolves, for example). There is a three year winter on earth (if I remember right), but eventually the remaining gods start things over and the human race re-starts. (This was from memory, so if I made mistakes let me know and I'll fix it!)

There have been several versions of "Ragnarok" in the book, and a lot of Asgardian time and effort was spent delaying the Twilight of the Gods.

We have:

Thor Volume I #273-278

This had the death of Balder (one of my favorite covers ever, with Thor holding Balder like a pieta), mortals in Asgard (Red Norvell), etc. I don't expect this one to really influence the film since we are missing some key players, like Balder. However, I do suggest this run for anyone who likes the Thor of this era. I have fond memories of reading this as a kid (even though I never much liked Red Norvell)

Thor Volume I #349-353

Walt Simonson's "Surtur Saga." This is a biggie, and the one I think will influence the film the most. It has Loki, Thor, and Odin teaming up to stop Surtur, and is the culmination of a lot of long building plot threads. It's really a definitive part of Thor's history, and very Ragnarok-esque. (To be honest, I highly recommend reading the entire Simonsson run, which goes from 337-382. It has been a big influence on the movies so far, and it is revered for a reason!)

Thor Volume I #380

Thor vs The Midgard Serpent (his adversary in the mythological Ragnarok); Thor has been cursed by Hela with brittle bones, and is the most vulnerable he has ever been. It is not exactly a re-telling of Ragnarok, but a lot of mythological aspects of Ragnarok are referenced and incorporated. (Also, for those who haven't read it, it's a beautifully written and illustrated issue that can stand on its own.)

Thor Volume II #80-85

Oeming's tie in to Avengers Disassembled. This had Rune Thor (a super-powerful version of Thor who gained the Odinforce), the destruction of Those Who Sit Above In Shadow (who were sort of a set of "gods for the gods"), the "death" of every Asgardian (who were later resurrected after the Thor comic returned from hiatus by JMS). It's a great run, and not very long. It incorporates a number of elements and visuals from the mythology, gives wonderful closure to decades of Thor stories, and (I would guess) will have some influence on this film.

Other possibilities:

-"Ragnarok" is the name of the Thor Clone... the less said about that the better, and I hope that this film has nothing to do with that.

-Wasn't there a story in the Ultimates where Loki brings an army from the 9 realms to attack earth or something? I'd stopped reading the Ultimates by that time, but I remember seeing artwork from it online.

-There have multiple appearances of Surtur, and pretty much every time he shows up, Ragnarok is mentioned. I can add some of these later.

-Some other storyline from the comics that does not specifically deal with the Norse Ragnarok, but is very end-of-the-world-y. (think Celestials, Godbutcher, etc).

-Something completely new, not based on a storyline from the comics (like The Dark World).

I'm sure there's some that I forgot. Like I said above: if anyone tells me what I missed, I'll add it to this post. I pretty much did this from memory, except I had to look up a few issue numbers, so I'm sure it can be revised.

I hope we see ramonda. She would be amazing played by angela Bassett plus it would give the film a lot of star power.

Wakanda is as essential to the movie as any of the characters. It matters as much as New York does to spiderman, as london does to sherlock.

With that in mind, how would you like to see wakanda represented?

I'm hoping for a lot of inspiration to come from Pretoria in South Africa but with the expensive extravagance of futurism of Abu Dhabi included.

I know we've talked about this in the past but we got held up because we only had one thread and we had to keep moving the conversation onto other areas but how would you handle comedy in black panther?

Marvel loves comedy so would you have a Thor level zaniness to things? Or perhaps a comedic sidekick like Ross? If so who would you cast?

Having surpassed a $1 billion dollar box office gross for his most recent film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Michael Bay is looking at telling a very different kind of big screen story. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bay is eyeing 13 Hours, an adaptation of Mitchell Zuckoff's recently released, officially described as follows:

"13 Hours" presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack.

Chuck Hogan (The Town) has adapted the screenplay for the project, which is set up at Paramount Pictures with Erwin Stoff producing.

Although unconfirmed, 13 Hours is rumored to be a smaller-scaled film, targeting a budget more in line with Bay's recent Pain and Gain, also released through Paramount.

Should s.w.o.r.d be introduced in this movie?

I think it would be a wonderful way to expand carols supporting cast and the marvel u in general. Plus it would make it easier for a kamala khan cameo.

Should Avengers Infinity War Part 1 have another villain?

A big issue with a lot of two part films is that the first film is a lot of talking and setup, with all the action taking place in the second part. The easy way to remedy this in my opinion is to work a villain into part 1. Maybe this villain possesses the final Infinity Stone that Thanos needs for the gauntlet, which would work it into the plot organically, but I really feel like Infinity War Part 1 needs some sort of defining action that allows it to stand alone better as a film. Since they obviously won't be defeating Thanos in part 1, maybe Kang or Korvac could work?

This thread is for Mar-Vell, the male Kree hero who originally bears the name Captain Marvel.

Who do you want cast as him, and when should he appear in the MCU? How should he die? In the same way as the comics or more heroically in battle (eg at the end of Avengers: Infinity War Part 1) so that it leads directly into Carol's movie afterwards and focuses on her without having it be too much of an origin tale?

I'd say that they either need a big star as Mar-Vell, or an immediately likeable actor who seems like leading man material and could easily have been the star of his own franchise had Marvel decided to go that way.

Perhaps someone like Armie Hammer as Mar-Vell?

MCU Phase IV!

So, we finally have Phase III all set-uo, but let's keep ignoring the present and focus on the more distant future, what are your expectations for Phase IV?

I trust that Infinity War will mark the end of the Thanos storyline, what threat awaits the MCU next? For the films that open this new era in the franchise i vote for Iron Man 4 and a new Hulk movie, sort of like a paralel to 2008, when Iron Man 1 and TIH started this whole engine.

As for the event closer threat, these are some of my candidates:

1. Kang

He's one of the primary Avengers villains, considering we've going through Ultron and Thanos, i think he has high chances of being the next best foe for the heroes.

Maybe he could be foreshadowed through Phase IV, building up his power.

2. World War Hulk

One of the Phase starter films could be something like Planet Hulk, then by the end of the Phase he comes back to earth in order to get his revenge on the MCU's Illuminati.

3. Skrulls

We don't know if Marvel Studios own their rights, or if Fox still has them, but they're powerful enough to serve as a good challenge, even in a post-Thano world.

4. The Liberators

This may be a more difficult suggestion but it's possible, some time ago it was mentioned that The Avengers would take some inspiration from The Ultimates, so why wouldn't another one of the Avengers films take inspiration from The Ultimates 2? The Liberators wouldn't have to consist of the same members, in fact, they kind of seemed more like a modern version of the Masters of Evil.

The idea could be interesting to have on film, as an answer to the USA using super people various nations decided to create their oun team and launch an attack on the USA

5. Return of an old enemy

Someone like Ultron may return, more powerful than before, could form an interesting intergalactic challenge, in an universe still recovering from Thanos, now having to deal with this robot multiplying like a virus.

Considering how difficult it seems to fit in new movies into the schedule, I am always looking for a way to fit other characters into existing franchises as supporting characters.

I would love to see Dr. Strange interact with the other supernatural characters. Playing Obi-Wan/Pr. X to the whole bunch sort of.
